AoWW Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 Ta. (If I'm gonna be an effective sycophant I need to pay more attention)
James. Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 I hate being on the fence a lot. I do it too much.I liked the post, but it was a bit cruel and stickying it is doing little more than sticking a big middle-finger in the guy's face. Whether you think thats deserved or not, this isn't the place. You and a few others in this thread need to get off your high horses and learn to smile a bit more. This is harmless fun. Thracian is big enough and old enough to take it and to be perfectly honest with you he probably finds it quite flattering that Manwell has taken the time to write it. Everyone knows Thracian is an integral part of the forum and keeps the lively debate going. There will always be times when that crosses the line and personal insults fly from both corners but this thread isn't about that. F**king relax. It's funny.

Mostly yes, I agree ; but recently the line gets crossed a little too often and (to me )its obvious from Thracian's replies that he no longer finds much of it very funny. Some of the subject matter and insinuations seem deeply offensive . Some posters cannot accept that he regularly proves himself more knowledgable about football and choose to attack him for the occassional peccadillo that subsequently is blown out of all proportion

It was only possible to write because of his strong character. And this place needs more strong characters.
Manwell Pablo Posted 23 January 2008 Author Posted 23 January 2008 A valiant attempt at wit, spoilt only by your inability to count as well as to spell.Predictable applause from the usual sycophants, but I doubt it'll impress the rest of the forum.. So basically it would be funny, if it were spelt correctly. From you I'll take that as a complement. I do love it when you criticize my English, and then make basic grammatical mistakes in your reply, and believe you me this isn't the first time.
Hullfox Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 Some posters cannot accept that he regularly proves himself more knowledgable about football Was it not he that once quoted that the pen is mightier than the sword? Maybe it was Darth Vader but either way your going to have to help me out here and provide a link or two.
The People's Hero Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 This should be taken as a light-hearted humorous thread - I certainly found it to be amusing and it's not as if Thracian can really dispute any of the stuff in there. The fact is, Thracian loves confrontation. I've risen above it and stuck him on ignore. If he wants to continue having swipes at me - he is welcome, I simply won't see them. Please though - this is an appeal to the humourless amongst us out there, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop throwing your toys out of the pram everytime there is something amusing posted. If you don't like what (for example) Hullfox, Daggers, Fez, Mablo, Alexikokopops, Finners post, then stick us on ignore. Believe me, I've got plenty of 'your lot' on ignore. It's a lot easier that way. It's pretty sad that I'm having to make this appeal to a couple of old men really who should know better.
Alexikokopops Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 Ignore that bit about sticking me on ignore. If any of you stick me on ignore I will come to your house and I will cut you.

You just try it, son. I'm cuttier than the captain of the Cutty Sark making cutting comments about the Cutting Crew's latest album whilst docked in Calcutta in cutting season.

Alexikokopops Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 I was wondering who the first person to make that joke would be. My money was on Stez.

It won't make em sound any sweeter but it's gracious for the conductor to name almost the entire Swan Lestas orchestra! And for the contribution they make on his behalf who can blame him. Any chance block voting can be erased from the FoxesTalk awards this year? :D

Rincewind Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 Am I on ignore. Of course if I am this won't be replied by whoever has me on ignore so it is a pointless post before anyone points this out.

Rincewind Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 In a strange sort of way being ignored I feel like one of the incrowd now. I think I have ever put one person on ignore. It was a while ago and they were far worse than Thrach with their views. I just got fed up of replying in a civilised manner. Forget the username now. But I wasn't the only one who had enough of them. Had to laugh at a poker mag I have though. One person in a letter complained about another player threatening him at the table. Said he'd written to the sites management but had no reply and said he was disgusted. The reply from the Ed? Turn the chatbox off or play on a different table. Also unless the bloke knew where he lived it would be very difficult and expensive to locate him just to wallop him. Some of the players I'm up against live in Canada and other parts of the world.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 Waaaaaaa, this thread is running away with itself. I tired reading it all, but by the time I've read one page another appears. I read what Manwell had to say - and he often disagrees with me - and I thought it was well constructed and funny, though cruel. But the best humour always is a little, isn't it? However, as a guide it was rubbish! I still don't understand Thrac OR Manwell for that matter. This is the number 12 bus isn't it? My dog likes bacon sandwichs with brown sauce on wholemeal bread. Hello? Nurse! Who's that nice bloke with the gladiator avatar?

It was really, really funny, is that better? Manuel was pretty well-intentioned about the whole thing. I have no problem with it now that its unstuck and know that Thracian's not quite as offended as he seemed at first. It's just got a bit hairy for a while when it was stuck, almost the kind of thing that could drive someone away from a place, and I don't wanna see that happen.
Thracian Posted 23 January 2008 Posted 23 January 2008 Even Sir Fynwy laughed, so it has to be funny. I found it quite amusing too but when Sir Fynwy and I laugh at the same things I have to start worrying.
