City Lad Posted 6 February 2008 Posted 6 February 2008 Plymouth Argyle chairman Paul Stapleton has hit out at former manager Ian Holloway ahead of Saturday's game against Leicester City.In a statement, Stapleton revealed that Holloway had asked the Home Park board of directors not to renegotiate the contract of Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, who subsequently exploited a clause in his Argyle deal to sign for Wolves. Speaking publicly for the first time about the January transfer-window, in which several top-line players left the Pilgrims, Stapleton has laid much of the blame for their departures on Holloway. The Pilgrims chairman also divulged that midfielder David Norris, who joined Ipswich Town last week, had been promised a move by Holloway without the agreement of the Home Park board of directors. In a further disclosure, Stapleton also told how the board had wanted to keep Hungarian international Akos Buzsaky, but had been persuaded by Holloway to let the midfielder join Queens Park Rangers. He also claims the seeds of Dan Gosling's move to Everton were sown by Holloway. However, asked why he has only now spoken out, Stapleton said: "I know some people will think that the timing of this is not the best, seeing as we play Leicester at the weekend, but these things have been on my mind for some time now. "I've got to say what I think, and I've got to let the fans know something of what's been going on. These are the facts." Link Sounds like sour grapes to me.
Staf Posted 6 February 2008 Posted 6 February 2008 Sound like sour grapes to me aswell i really do hope we beat them there will be so many of them on here if we dont
Joe. Posted 6 February 2008 Posted 6 February 2008 ****ing hell even their board are at it. Just shut up and get on with it. It's football.
WetFlannel Posted 6 February 2008 Posted 6 February 2008 Seems like hes just trying to cover up for his inability to run a football club. If he had some ambition and money, Ollie would of stayed. He knows that, but I see hes trying to get the fans on his side.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 6 February 2008 Posted 6 February 2008 What he's said is: However, asked why he has only now spoken out, Stapleton said: "I know some people will think that the timing of this is not the best, seeing as we play Leicester at the weekend, but these things have been on my mind for some time now."I've got to say what I think, and I've got to let the fans know something of what's been going on. These are the facts." What he means is : "Shit, our team is awful now. Better stir up some atmosphere from the supporters and make sure the players are up for this game."

STUHILL Posted 6 February 2008 Posted 6 February 2008 Sounds like poop to me!! It almost sounds made-up!! Why would a manager want to get rid of his best players against his chairmans wishes?? What a load of crap!! I feel sorry for holloway, he moved because the Chairman was going to sell all his players in Jan, and look, he has!!
Leicester Lass Posted 6 February 2008 Posted 6 February 2008 If their fans believe that then they are really ****ing stupid. I'm getting bored of Plymouth now, I'll be glad to get the game over and done with at the weekend so they can bloody leave us alone.
