SamL Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Did anybody else get a lecture from the stewards about the FA clamping down on standing. After the Bristol home game, the FA are going to have people in the crowd to watch for persistent standers. If anybody stands up persistently the club will be fined. I hope this is in the right forum.
lildave3 Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 In other news, we had a top steward today. Had a laugh, didn't have a go at us once.

samingram_uk Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Stewards in the back of L1 are top blokes, hand out mints and everything
Staf Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 There was a steward playin round with the norwich fans today
Raj Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 If you view stewards with abit of respect and not some kind of scum you will realise that the majority are decent folk. If they stay in the same areas(which most should) they should build up a decent rapport with the fans. The ones in L1 are fine.

I just think this whole standing issue is so stupid, isn't there bigger things to think about, I mean what do they think will happen?. 1000's stand every week without incident, just leave the fans alone. Its so over the top.
Simi Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I think if this clap down does go ahead, then it could completely backfire against the clubs and put a lot more pressure on them.
Floating Fox Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I think if this clap down does go ahead, then it could completely backfire against the clubs and put a lot more pressure on them. I think it's them talking bollocks....For starters, the FA don't have a say on the stewarding.
Simi Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I think it's them talking bollocks....For starters, the FA don't have a say on the stewarding. Perhaps they said FLA? Or just got it mixed up. Reading SUSD - There is some evidence that it could be happening.
RowlattsFox Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I think it's them talking bollocks....For starters, the FA don't have a say on the stewarding. It is what Kevin Barclay told us, whether he was telling the truth or not i'll let you decide. Basically, starting at the Bristol City game there will be attempts to clamp down on standing in both the Kop and L1, it won't work, especially in L1. As far as i'm aware you will recieve atleast 2 warnings and if you continue to stand then you will be ejected. The FA or FLA (i wasnt really listening) are getting on the clubs back regarding standing, why our stadium seems to get more warnings then other stadiums that have more people standing i don't know. Maybe we are an easy target because we dont have a huge amoumt of standers? or maybe Kevin is making these warnings up? who knows. I heard from another steward yesterday that Kevin has been trying to implement these plans for a while now but Tim Davies had been objecting the idea. Initiatives like this have been done before though and they don't usually last very long.
Koke Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I've been to Villa Park at least 4 times this season and every time I go there we persistently stand up at the Holte End. No stewards, no police, no nothing. I don't see or hear that Aston Villa being fined so is it all talk and no action by the FLA or something?
filbertway Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 The stewards should be told to sit down as well.
RowlattsFox Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 The stewards should be told to sit down as well. I would gladly sit down, my legs start to ache after a while
lee7 Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Steven Coddington, works in G block, fooking nutcase, Isaw an old lady getting out her chair to configure her wedgie, when he belted her in the face and left her for dead.

Surely the FA have got something better to do than sending out scouts to lookout for persistent standing.
lee7 Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 this will never work. as soon as the stewards tell people in L1 to sit down they will just sing stand up if you love leicester which will get everyone standing then they will have to try and get everyone sitting down again.

This would also happen in the small minorities of people that stand up at the back of the Kop. I won't be sitting down, fact.

purpleronnie Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 It would have come from the FLA not the FA.

It would be the FLA. I fear this will backfire on the club, especially if they target L1. Although I doubt stewards have the balls to do that. This is what Barclay doesn't see while he sits in his office barking out the orders. The two warning thing never seems to work either, in past times you just tend to see them isolate a couple of people and then make an example of them. Which is what I expect to see if action is taken. Tim Davies was a big loss to this club, always pro standing and has been at the forefront of a lot of the good things to come out of this club.
purpleronnie Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 I thought L1 had an agreement from the club to allow them to stand? The atmosphere is bad enough without them making it worse.
lcfc_jme Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Kevin Barkley. What an absolute cocknose.   The FLA.  FA "spies" in the stands.  !!! Iain Hume. Preston at home will be fun.
Raj Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 I thought L1 had an agreement from the club to allow them to stand? The atmosphere is bad enough without them making it worse. Theres no 'agreement' between the club and L1 as such They just realised that with the amount of 'standers' in L1 it just wasnt worth taking a hardline approach, as it'd cause mayhem and not worth all the bother!!! So they tolerate it.(begrudgingly!) This is the first i've heard of any such action. If the club does try and implement a rule like 2 warnings and you are out,it will be fun to watch!!!!!
