blue blood Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I didnt go to the match but it sounded bad on the old wireless..He was playing pool at Rileys last night with Alnwick - he won't be able to do that little habit for much longer if he's injured big time. On an aside, Steve Walsh did apply for the Leicester job after Megson left, didn't have the required badges. I was speaking to his son last night in Life he does not have a pool table at home?
davieG Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Source City boss Glenn Roeder had no complaints about Darel Russell`s red card at the Walkers Stadium yesterday.Roeder told canaries.co.uk: "I've looked at it now and can have no complaints and Darel will be disappointed in himself to have lunged in the manner that he did. Darel Russell is not what I'd call a dirty player. I don't think he's got a history of doing things like that and I would think he genuinely went for ball but missed it completely and he's caught the lad, and it does look nasty. I can't blame the referee at all". "He gets punished now and so do we because we don't have him for three games now, and with our squad being pretty small and lightweight is not going to help. But nevertheless it gives someone else an opportunity in the next three games." Russell faces a three game ban, ruling him out of the Championship games at home to Barnsley and Blackpool, as well as the trip to Watford.
Thracian Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Sitting half way up H block I looked straight down on the Russel challenge on StearmanOne of the nastiest, most cowardly challenges I've seen in a long time. I believe as the ref took action they can't lengthen the ban but it was the sort that if went to a video hearing would get longer bans Horrific. The answer lies with Glenn Roader. And if I was Roader I'd tell his agent on Monday morning that he could find the guy another club. I would then circulate the clubs to let them know why he was available.
lildave3 Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Hope it's not too bad, he's improved his performances so much under Holloway. But Chambers is a more than capable replacement should he miss games.
Daggers Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 But Chambers is a more than capable replacement should he miss games. As much as I agree about the change in Stearman under Holloway, I thought Chambers offered much more down the flank yesterday.
Simi Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 As much as I agree about the change in Stearman under Holloway, I thought Chambers offered much more down the flank yesterday. Agreed. He has much more drive than Stearman when going forward and his final ball is often a lot more convincing than Stearmans. A very adequate back-up who was unlucky not to take the right back spot when Stearman was playing crap.
lildave3 Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 As much as I agree about the change in Stearman under Holloway, I thought Chambers offered much more down the flank yesterday. Well he did. But don't forget he came on when we already winning quite comfortably, I think he had a hell of an easier ride than Stearman. I can see cases for both of them to start, and it's a very good thing to have 2 capable right backs for Holloway to choose from.
clazkel Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I hope Stearmans injury isn't too bad. I was abit annoyed at Holloway though after the match when he didn't really stick up for Stearman as he said he used to play like that and there are too many players ponsing around in their red boots (or something like that). Hopefully now he has seen the footage he will realise it was a nasty challenge and the guy deserved to be sent off. Stearman has improved soo much and good on Holloway for sticking with him!
Flynny Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 He has much more drive than Stearman when going forward and his final ball is often a lot more convincing than Stearmans. What? His final ball is appalling, it's his worst attribute by far. Stearman can stick a pretty decent cross in. Stearman isn't quite as good going forward, mostly because he lacks Chambers' pace, but looks more sound defensively. A lot fairer way to assess is talking about Chambers when he played a full match, against Plymouth, where he gave a performance that Stearman would have been slated for, rather than when he came on with us 2-0 up, a man down, and space to run into. That might actually be the worst put-together sentence I've ever written.

Spot on. He looked fantastic going forward because him and Hume had so much space to work with. Zsolt out wide when the opposition had 10 men gave our right side much more room in which to maneouver. Roeder's decision to replace Mo Camara with Jamie Cureton was positive, but tactically naive because it allowed Hume to have an almost free reign down that side, which naturally made Chambers look good going forward. Stearman over Chambers because he's a much better defender and isn't that much worse than Chambers going forward. I think we'll miss Ricky.
Rimmo08 Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 good Srearman is shocking he has probarbly been are worst problem down the wing cus he is lancky and can't kick a ball to save his life. Clapham is ten times better.
Rimmo08 Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Does anyone know how the lad is? I've read a few threads but cant see anything about him. Not good to see someone stretchered off with no attempt to get up. horrible challenge and hope the cnut gets more than a 3 match ban. And he had the balls to have a go at the ref about it! Mate stearman is shocking the team is better off without him he can't kick a ball to save his life.

Clapham is ten times better. Yeh that Srearman's awful. However, there are a few minor faults with your argument. 1. He's not a winger, is he? 2. Since when has being lanky a reason for being a bad footballer. Is Peter Crouch Liverpool's worst problem? 3. I saw Stearman kick the ball several times yesterday. 4. Last time I checked, Clapham was a left-back, and Stearman is a right-back. 5.

Clapham is ten times better. I think thats abit harsh, i think hes improved so much recently because hes had a run in the team. At least he tries to be positive and get forward rather than defending all the time, and you very rarely see him pulling out of a challenge.

AmericanScott Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Were you saying bad things about Stearman when he scored the equaliser against Forest? I'm pretty certain he "kicked" the ball then.
Flynny Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Were you saying bad things about Stearman when he scored the equaliser against Forest?I'm pretty certain he "kicked" the ball then. Prrft, lucky scuff. Srearman out.

I agree he should be punished, fined or whatever. But if it's true that he's not got a history for such bad challenges, then getting rid of one of their best players would be cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Thought I'd stay quiet in the interest of keeping the peace though
The Stig Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Wow.Just... wow. I know, some people never fail to amaze me either. Stearman has improved a hell of a lot recently, we'd miss him if he had a spell out. Having said that the kids out of control, playing pool the night beofre a game, the youth of today
