davieG Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 From the Merc Milan: I'm still backing Ollie by Dan Nice Milan Mandaric has reiterated his support for boss Ian Holloway ahead of Leicester City's crucial Championship clash in Cardiff. In a meeting with the Foxes Trust, City's owner admitted he was so “choked” after Saturday's defeat at Coventry that he did not feel like lunching with his daughter the following day. But Mandaric told the supporters group's annual meeting on Monday that he was behind Holloway, whose problems mounted last night when relegation rivals Preston beat leaders Stoke City. That shock result means Preston, whose assistant manager is former City boss Rob Kelly, are now level on 37 points with City, putting huge emphasis on the match between the teams at the Walkers Stadium on Tuesday - and Saturday's trip to Ninian Park. Mandaric told the Foxes Trust meeting, which was also attended by City's new chief executive Paul Aldridge, that he had met with Holloway following Saturday's 2-0 defeat at the Ricoh Arena. Matt Davis, a member of the Foxes Trust board, said Mandaric spoke of his disappointment at the result, but assured fans the meeting with Holloway was to simply “talk through his concerns”. Davis said: “After the Coventry game, he said he was choked, and did not even feel like lunch with his daughter (the following day). “He met with the manager after the Coventry game to talk through his concerns, but reiterated he won't be changing the manager regularly.” Davis said Mandaric and Aldridge also addressed a number of other issues. These included agents' fees, season-ticket prices, the state of the Walkers Stadium pitch and the possibility of setting up a new fans' forum. City paid out more than £1million to agents in the last six months of last year and Davis said: “Milan said the agents' fee should be no more than five per cent of the contract. He said you can't do business without agents. He would far sooner give the money to charity but knows it's part and parcel of the game. “Paul spoke about a fans' forum, meeting every six to eight weeks with 20 to 25 people. “There would be a different group each time and nothing would be off limits. “He also spoke about the pitch. He said there were no problems with the surface, just the debris. “It drops to one inch below the surface and no water gets through. It smells foul because of rotting matter.” Davis also said the Trust, which has around 700 members on a “rolling basis”, would be setting up a poll to discuss season-ticket prices for next season.
ASH17LCFC Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 Big week for Holloway. We lose our next two games and he will be gone, he's had enough time now to turn it around and has done no better then Martin Allen would of.
Fat Ron Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 Dare I say, If we lose by 2 or more clear goals against Cardiff I think its the end for Ollie. Milan has said he wont be changing the Manager regularly but looking back to last season, Rob Kelly went and we were in a similar position. I just hope that we can go into the Preston game with at least a points cushion, if we dont then we are seriously in danger of falling into the bottom 3 and losing pace with the teams around us. Time for the talking to stop and the players to graft.
Aeropars Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 If by Preston winning the players still dont get the situation to sink in then we are in serious trouble. Looking at the teams around us and their next games it really starts to make me nervous. I think Preston will be the turning point. If we dont have a win by then I expect Ollie to be gone. I still back him but i'm starting to doubt his ability in this situation. I'm mixed about his signings as well. If i were him i'd be looking at loans still go get us out of this predicament. I wonder if he thought about getting Nugent in on loan like Ipswitch have.
Exiled Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 ah, the dreaded vote of confidence. He'll be down the jobcentre by this time next week then
Babylon Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 If i were him i'd be looking at loans still go get us out of this predicament. I wonder if he thought about getting Nugent in on loan like Ipswitch have. I've lost all interest again... god how depressing.
Joe. Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 It's a crucial period for Holloway now. I still think even if we went down he should be allowed to stay on and get his own team together ready for next season. But somehow I don't Milan would be as patient as I would be. He's got big games coming up now to save his job.
Manwell Pablo Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 I've lost all interest again... god how depressing. I can't believe Im going on Saturday I must be made. Massive week for Holloway.
Exiled Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 His P45 would make interesting reading. Wonder what his pay out will be for a couple of months of incompetence.

Bernie's Love Child Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 Regardless of how we do against Cardif, if we lose badly to Preston, he's gone I think.
MikeyT Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 Our club is cursed!!!! I didnt know that Preston had won!!!

Time for the talking to stop and the players to graft. Haven't lost by more than 2 goals all season. So he should be ok I find the whole situation baffling when you look at our goal difference (which before Saturday was the same as 3rd placed Bristol City ). I would bet a large sum of money that the teams just below and above us have all been heavily turned over on more than one occassion this season. Maybe that's it, maybe we've just never had that "wake-up call" to tell the players how bad they are?

STUHILL Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 Cardiff is important, but I feel Preston will be the killer blow if we lose! I see Ollie having 2 games to save his job. Shocking we are in this position again!!! Billy Davies for me plz
Monk Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 Milan's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Confidence has nothing to do with it.
FleckneyFox Posted 27 February 2008 Posted 27 February 2008 Yeah. im not so bothered about who is our manager right now. The biggest issue is we stay in this league which is increasinly becoming more unlikely.

The players aren't bad and the fact we've not been turned over and have done well against some of the top teams in the division goes a long way towards proving it. What City lack is inspired leadership both on and off the field. You don't lead by fostering disharmony. Holloway's opening gambit was to make it clear he wanted his own players. Big mistake even accepting it was true. What he should have said was: "I've no idea how good you all are but you sure won't recognise how good you're going to be in future." "So let's get the balls out and start as we mean to go on - by having some fun and playing some FOOTBALL." No chance of disharmony. Tension gone in an instant.

Well Balls is one of the things they are lacking! If they had any they wouldn't know what to do with them. Can you imagine them playing pass the parcel!

I think you should be manager... even if we got smelllegated I bet we'd win the inter club squash tournament.
