purpleronnie Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Caught up with an old friend (steve) the other week who is now a teacher and he was telling me about a recent fight at his school. He stated it was the first real fight he had heard about whilst at the school. We talked about how common they were back in the day (80's) than they seem to be these days. This got the old memory banks working. I reminissed about all the fights I could remember. I remember two lads fighting after school one of them was a known trouble maker the other a young kinda tough but nice lad, they shadow boxed a bit then the younger guy hit the other lad on the nose he went down like a sack of spuds shouting 'my nose, my nose'. Another I remember was between a lad who I didnt know but seem to be able to box but never looked tough fighting a lad from my street he had him pinned down and punching him in the face I saw him a day later both eyes were closed and black. Another I remember for the worst reason...I missed it, and apparantly it was an epic fight. I was now at the grammar school it was between this lad dean and another lad who was someone you didnt even look at out of fear of a beating. For some unknown reason I decided to go round my mates house at lunch time instead of going to see the fight. On my way back to school I saw dean his shirt was ripped and had blood on his face, but he had won and apparantly spun the other lad around with the winning punch, even though it was over 15 years ago I still am pissed I missed it. This got us thinking about fights we had been in ourselves, my friend steve (teacher) had never been in a fight, I recalled a couple of my fights. The first was against some lad I cant remember his name, I would have been about 14 (late 80's) and for some reason he didnt like me I think it was after I got a bit mouthy after a football game and for some reason even thought I never directed any insults towards him he decided he wanted to fight, it quickly spread around the school and I was a little skinny kid back then and want looking forward to it, so after the school bell went I headed home with my mates and it looked like the other lad wasnt turning up, until I looked over my shoulder to see him sprinting towards me, I took off, I just keep running in circles away from him and eventually he gave up, it was the just before the holidays and I spent the whole holidays dreading going back but when I went back I become friendly with a friend of his and that seemed to work, phew. The only real fight I had was with a friend (again not a close one) I cant remember how it started but we were into it and I remember him hitting me in the face and it didnt hurt, the next day my jaw did hurt and I actually discussed it with my opponent and he said his head still hurt which I was happy with. The fight itself ended in stalemate. I came close a few more times beforwe I learned to stop mouthing off, but I also started going to the gym and bulked up a lot....just incase. Are school fights less common now or do kids still rush out to see the latest fight?
Samilktray Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Fights didnt really happen much in my last 3 years of school and havent done so this year. The memories of people running towards the fight like bees to honey was great though.

Same really, stops really after you've finished secondary school. But at secondary school there was some funny ones, and like you say it's hilarious to see swarms of people rushing towards it. For the record, never been in one myself.

The People's Hero Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 I ended up being dragged in to one at uni. Luckily we were more numerous and less drunk than the other lot.
Cal Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Im rough as fook, And have knocked everyone who has dared face me out.
Samilktray Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Closest thing to fights at school nowadays is Ched constantly pestering me with jabs.
Zingari Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 i've never ran away from a fight in my life there's too much chance i'd get caught so i bloody well scarper off in my car
Stevosevic Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Never been in a proper fight myself, only handbags. But when i was in year 8, some lads in year 11 were fighting after school with some lads from another school in the car park, everyone saw it as they walked away from school and one of the boys ended up being stabbed.
The People's Hero Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 I actually recall seeing an amazing fight in Elements at Leicester University. The bouncers waited AGES before intervening. Boy did I scarper quick!
Cal Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Ive seen a sick 'fight' which was more like a gang war, where a bloke got his head stamped on and bounced off the pavement like a ball. I'll never understand how people can do that to someone.
Manwell Pablo Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 If you lot like spectating fights, come to Ashby, one every weekend.
The People's Hero Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 I don't go out drinking in Maidstone anymore because of the amount of fights and the police's attitude of letting them have it out.

What a strange way of policing. Do they stop burgelers by letting them steal all the shit they want until they are rich, meaning they can retire from burgling and therefore no longer be a burgeler, meaning the streets of Maidstone have one less Burgeler on them. Actually thats quite a good idea.

BigGibbo Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 I've been a regular on the Hinckley night scene (if you could call it that) since I was 15 need I say more?

Simi Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 There's been a fair few little scuffles over the years. Nothing more than a couple of punches to the face and then all the teachers come out!
General Smuts Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Like TPH i got dragged into one at uni, which involved my mate. They're were much more of us and i dnt remember actually hitting anyone, more of the old headbutts against each others type. My mate however showed me his hand the next day where hed hit some fella and he had no knuckles and his hand looked like a fried egg Other than that theres fights every week at our 5-a-side, i had to intervene in one not an hour ago in fact.
