Man guilty of 'first date' murder

A fitness instructor who said a woman stabbed herself 31 times while on a first date with him has been found guilty of her murder.

Karl Taylor, 27, of Covent Garden, London, was jailed for life with a minimum of 30 years at the Old Bailey for killing Kate Beagley.

Miss Beagley, a 32-year-old manager from Surrey, was found with head and neck wounds in a wood in Hertfordshire.

Taylor told the court she committed suicide using a knife he dropped.

Miss Beagley's naked body was found four days later dumped in Oxhey Wood.

She had been driven there by Taylor in the boot of her grey VW Golf car, which he told police he had intended to steal when he met Miss Beagley.

The prosecution told the court he went intending to murder her, with the knife placed up his sleeve as the two of them sat in the Roebuck pub in Richmond Hill.

Taylor stabbed Miss Beagley to death as they sat on a park bench at a beauty spot overlooking the River Thames at Richmond.

Peter Clarke QC, prosecuting, said Taylor told police he stabbed her during an argument after telling her: "All I want is your car."

The court heard Taylor told police: "She pushed me away. She was grabbing me and I stabbed her in the throat.

"I constantly and consistently cut her in the neck because she was going for my face."

Taylor stripped her body and washed it with mineral water before dumping it.

Mr Clarke said Taylor later threw the murder weapon, her clothing and unwanted belongings on the roadside by the M1.

He later showed off his "new car" to friends and family and sold Miss Beagley's mobile phone to a friend.

I can understand why someone like this would be jailed, but I'm still not sure why someone from Beaumont Leys should go to prison for letting a labrador bum him up the bum in the privacy of his own home

I lived in Beaumont Leys for the first four weeks of my life. I have never forgiven my parents for the stigma attached to me because of it. If that wasn't enough, my dad is a brummie too. Fortunately I am good looking and intelligent, so the cross isn't too much to bear.

I'm not about to start a 'do it with a dachschund' campaign, but I do have some sympathy with him, actually. However sordid and unnatural this bloke's behaviour was, what harm did he do? He let a dog shag him up the bum - now correct me if I'm wrong, but the dog is a willing participant in all this. Shame may have been brought on his family, but if his lad hadn't have grassed him up to the Old Bill, no one would have been any the wiser

I'm still at a loss as to why the daft sod videoed it though

Yeah you were a nice guy. I can't remember the context but I do remember you were slightly below average height with short blond hair, probably late 20's early 30's.

(this is not how I imagine you in the waking world, to clarify I haven't really imagined what you look like in the waking world, I'm not stalking you or obsessed with you, honest)

Well, you're in the right age range, but on the height and hair you're about as far away as you could be.

I sometimes dream about people that I not only haven't met but have no idea who they are. Where are they from? What do they want? It's probably the dead trying to get an important message over - I'm a rubbish conduit though, so they're wasting their time.

I once dreamt that I fell off a skateboard and then snogged Danni out of Neighbours*. It was triffic

Perhaps you should try falling off skateboards more often? :dunno::P

Oh, and I'm always dreaming about people I've never met. Sometimes you then meet them and realise how completely wrong you were - really weird experience. :S
