  1. 1. Were standing permitted at grounds, what would you do?

Just reading the thread about the Southampton stewards and talking this morning to a couple of Peterborough fans who still have a terrace made me think how much I'd like to have some form of "safe standing" in the higher divisions, like the sort seen in German grounds.

The kind of people who answer these kind of polls are generally the kind who want to be able to stand. However, I seem to remember the FSF did a proper survey and it came out as 20% wanted to use it and over 80% thought it was a good idea.

I would love to stand up at matches, there would be a better atmosphere, you don't have to be with the same people every week, and you can move around during the match.

It would be great to have standing areas behind both goals.

Many of us would like to stand. Get yourself onto www.standupsitdown.co.uk

There are many things you can do to get your views aired, some may not work but it's worth a go. I'm sure a few people on here would talk to you about Safe Standing areas (Standupandsing, Ched etc.) If you're serious about standing, do something about it.

Safe standing would be good for everyone, no doubt about it.

Unreserved seating is needed as well.

Standing is great but only if the tiering is steep enough and the problem with steep tiering is that it makes standing more dangerous. I'm averge height (5ft 10) and when Iv been to watch Colchester in the home end I often cant see all that much despite being right on the half way line. This is because the tiering is only about 3 inches! In the Colchester away end the tiering is a bit higher and it does not get so overcrowded (especially last time!) so seeing the game isn't an issue.

So I'd like to stand but not at the expense of an obstructed view. I also like having my seat so I don't have to turn up extra early to the game just to get a good position. The main reason I have a season ticket is because of the seat I have.

So I have some mixed feelings towards standing.

You could still have a seat, the whol stadium wouldn't be standing

If sitting safer than standing. I don't know how some people fit in the seats and feel like I'm voluntarily placing myself in a vice for 90 minutes. Basically there's a race in my row to get sat down first because one in every three has to sit forward while the others sit back.

The seats were made for stick insects.

So perhaps its all about size. Small people like seats; not cramped for them and can see. while tall people like standing!

I wouldn't stand but I wouldn't be bothered about it as long as people aren't standing in front of me.

There should be a designated area / stand for it.

I stand most of the time in N block anyway, but I like to sit down at halftime so I don't really know. :dunno:

A combined 51 from 55 votes would like to stand or see standing at football matches again. If that's not evidence enough, I don't know what evidence would be.
