Thracian Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Judging by the comments of Hull City's manager on This Is Leicestershire, our pitch is getting something of a reputation. It's described by Phil Brown as apparently "not the best". Seems almost like we're inviting guests to our sumptious new home then serving dinner on a messy tablecloth. Are City seriously saying that's the best they can do? Even from the stands it looks appalling and it cannot do anything for the flow of football or the confidence of our players.
Thracian Posted 22 March 2008 Author Posted 22 March 2008 At least good teams can't play football on it. Can't say we've excelled either!
Flynny Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 It should be supposedly getting better now, but I've not seen it for a couple of weeks and today's weather isn't going to help. They had to delay doing something to it that they've now done or something, didn't they? Also Thracian, weren't you saying a couple of weeks ago that old pitches were absolute bogs and good players still played good football on them?
Sods Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Our pitch is a joke. But to be honest we haven't done that bad on it since its been shit. I think all of us would like to see a carpet, but the fact is we have won a FEW games on it.
Bert Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 This is all true. But tell me what can we do about now? I bet you can't.
Babylon Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Are City seriously saying that's the best they can do? Have they said that... if you spoke to a groundsman, they would say to relay it properly you really need a 6 weeks break to let it bed properly. Something went tits up this season, it's never usually this bad. Get it relayed in the summer, sort the drainage and start again next year.
Monk Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 I thought the pitch looked fine today. Shame about all the shit on it though.
Finnegan Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Agreed with Monk. Don't think it looked especially bad today and Hull showed no interest in playing passing football. Or any football, come to think of it.
Moreton Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 I thought the pitch looked fine today. Shame about all the shit on it though. yeah i agree. looked half decent
Staf Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 I thought the pitch was better today it will be interesting to see what Ollie blames for todays defeat.
C-man Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 I thought the pitch was better today it will be interesting to see what Ollie blames for todays defeat. He didn't blame anything did he? He just said Hull were man for man better than us, and he was right.
Zingari Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 I thought manure was good for the grass? then we should have a bowling green for a pitch
Asha Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 He didn't blame anything did he? He just said Hull were man for man better than us, and he was right. Agreed, and he gains my respect for it. Any manager who blames the rub of the green can suck my frube.
Ultra Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Agreed, and he gains my respect for it. Why? Several of our players are on Premier League wages. Not that you'd know it from today's performances..
Thracian Posted 23 March 2008 Author Posted 23 March 2008 I thought the pitch looked fine today. Shame about all the shit on it though. It was certainly better than it has been - and I've no reason to believe we'd have played any better had it been like a giant snooker table.

There would have been more balls on show, entertainment full of colour and the net shaking somewhat more. Perhaps the odd one or two might have arrived on cue unfortunately all that happened was that we were snookered
