Finnegan Posted 29 March 2008 Posted 29 March 2008 Mh. Firefox updated earlier this week, aye? Has anyone noticed a huge increase in pop-up adverts since, or have I got a virus / spyware problem that AVG and Ad-Aware aren't finding? Massive coincidence if it isn't related to the update, as it started happening the very first time I loaded up Firefox after the update. It isn't just 'dodgey' sites, either, I seem to be getting them everywhere. The bit that seems most perculiar is some of them are opening up in Internet Explorer. Which leads me onto my second question, is it possible to uninstall internet explorer?
Samilktray Posted 29 March 2008 Posted 29 March 2008 Another problem i have with firefox, it always loses my shortcut things.
Finnegan Posted 29 March 2008 Author Posted 29 March 2008 Another problem i have with firefox, it always loses my shortcut things. Never had that. Never had a problem with Firefox, this is the first time and it might not even be Firefox that's the problem. It just seemed like an odd coincidence to me.

It just seemed like an odd coincidence to me. I updated Firefox a few days ago, and straight after for 2 days it kept saying something about a server being down and basically wouldnt let me on any site on firefox. Odd, even odder was that i was on msn and internet explorer was working

Worked after a restart.

Worked after a restart. I tried that, but to no avail, but i am on it now, seems to have fixed itself, was rather irritating as i had managed to just about remove IE so basically had no internet!

I have got Adblock Plus enabled though, which seems to stop the majority of 'em anyway. Just bear in mind if you're thinking of uninstalling IE that there are still some sites around that will only work in Explorer.
Jordan Posted 29 March 2008 Posted 29 March 2008 My Firefox problem is not being able to download lost of things. If I go to a site that starts automatic downloads, I'm good--but if I try to right-click on something and choose "Save Image/Link/Page etc. As," or try it in the File tab, it doesn't work.
Dames Posted 29 March 2008 Posted 29 March 2008 My Firefox has actually improved since the update. Before it kept not connecting to pages but that problem seems to have been solved now.
SamL Posted 29 March 2008 Posted 29 March 2008 I haven't experienced any problems with the new update, if anything it's improved.
DB11 Posted 29 March 2008 Posted 29 March 2008 I use FireFox and there was an update but no difference in pop ups
Webbo Posted 29 March 2008 Posted 29 March 2008 I use FireFox and there was an update but no difference in pop ups Me either, in fact I haven't noticed any difference at all.
Daggers Posted 29 March 2008 Posted 29 March 2008 Nope - no problems her....hey, what's that? Oh my God! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..............
SamL Posted 30 March 2008 Posted 30 March 2008 I have noticed that since I installed the update, if I have more than 4 tabs open it is more prone to crashing. It's crashed 3 times today already.
StroudFox Posted 30 March 2008 Posted 30 March 2008 I have noticed that since I installed the update, if I have more than 4 tabs open it is more likely to crash. It's crashed 3 times today already. Mine has been crashing a lot more and not connecting to web pages but not sure if it because of the browser or router or laptop!!
SamL Posted 30 March 2008 Posted 30 March 2008 Mine has been crashing a lot more and not connecting to web pages but not sure if it because of the browser or router or laptop!! Try using Internet Explorer, if everything works fine on that then it's the browser. I have quite a lot of trouble with my router as well, some nights I lose my internet connection every 10 minutes or so.
Simi Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 Come to think of it, mine has been crashing a lot more lately. Quite annoying to be honest, as I always seem to be half way through reading something.
