Steve Gerard is as hard...

So one of Gerard's ex's, a certain Lauren Ashcroft, has revealed what apparently has been common knowledge on Merseyside for more than five years - that the Liverpool and England midfielder was the victim of a sustained vendetta waged by another of her former boyfriends, a notorious local villain by the name of George Bromley Junior.

The Screws were able to grant Lauren her expose as a result of evidence given by John Kinsella, a defendant in a robbery trial. Apparently, he had been approached by Steve's father Paul several years ago to sort Bromley out. One of the first things that Paul Gerard did was to alert Liverpool FC to what was going on so that his son could be provided with the appropriate security.

Given that all this was common knowlege in Scouseville what I would like to know is:

1) Why did The Screws publish a story a couple of years back attributing Gerard's loss of form at this time (2001-3) to his parents' marital difficulties? Who in the Anusfield hierarchy was responsible for this cover-up and why did The Screws humour the Red Shites?

2) Why do the Kop still sing 'Steve Gerard is hard' when this evidence suggests that he is anything but (he promptly dumped the girl when the trouble started, put up 12 foot railings around his house and ducked a fist fight with his tormentor - could you imagine Vinnie Jones beating such a brave retreat?)?

3) Why didn't all those (supposedly) passionate, bubble permed, red blooded Koppites who idolise Gerard and who are known for their 'pro-activity' make this hoodlum 'behave', posing as he did a real danger to their team's prospects? Could it be that they are as lilly livered as their chicken hearted hero (sorry about the mixed organ metaphor)?

The worst part of it all is that Scousers will still bang on about their 'identity.' Maybe it's just their capacity to peddle such shit and believe in it that makes others stand in awe of them - Boris was right!

Didn't someone threaten to shoot his legs?

I think anyone who is supposedly 'hard' would be scared of this guy - hes a gangster, probably doesn't use his own fists, and probably has weapons. What's he suppose to do?

Do you ever smile? Are you ever positive?

1) £££££££

2) What does fan songs have anything to do with it? They're probably just some youths who find going in with lunging tackles and taking some hits makes you "hard".

3) Why would they know about this? Why should they take such a (unofficial) story seriously at the time? And are you suggesting a horde of people should've ganged up on the guy and his friends or what?

What an unbelievably stupid post. I wonder how hard you'd be if you were being threatened by a well known gangster...to ridicule someone for this is beyond stupidity.

I like how your "full low down" comes from some slag who sold her story to the News of the World aswell.

He would......as long as there was a PC in the way, and if he was behind it.

I like how your "full low down" comes from some slag who sold her story to the News of the World aswell.

I would be very grateful 'frenzal' if you could describe to others on this board what it is like to be clinically brain dead. You clearly have given very little thought to the points that I have raised - particularly why the NOTW participated in a cover up over this issue (to suggest that this was done for money as one of your cataleptic friends has done is no explanation at all as virtually all commercial decisions at root have a financial imperative).

A more reflective reading of my post will reveal that I have not ridiculed Steve Gerard - I have ridiculed the myth that has grown up around him and the Scouse culture that has generated this myth (hence my reference to Boris Johnson). I know plenty of people (and know of plenty more) who are not easily intimidated and have taken on criminals who attempted to threaten them. I notice you avoided my rhetorical question so I'll pose it again:

Do you think Vinnie Jones would have ducked a challenge to a fist fight?

Your assertion that the story is not true simply because (as you put it) they are the words of a slag shows that you are both ignorant and prejudiced as well as thick. If you didn't have the memory of a goldfish you might recall much of this came out in a court case last week. You also overlook the fact that in reporting this the NOTW is contradicting its own earlier story about Gerard's parents' marital difficulties as being the reason for a decline in his playing form.

Next time you feel compelled to give your tuppence worth on this board simply because someone has made you feel intellectually insecure or because your equally brain dead mates have gone piling in sit back, read again and think. And when you've done that...

Switch off the PC and do something else...

Granted my reply was quite obnoxious and calling the woman who sold her story a slag may well have been harsh, but your reference to her story in the NOTW as being the 'full low down' is ridiculous. It's a subjective viewpoint from a third party who was 15 when it all happened and most of her own comments in the article refer to the nature of her relationship with Gerrard and not to the threats he recieved. And why twist my words? Where did I assert that it wasn't true, I implied that it should be taken with a pinch of salt. So how about you try reading things properly before labelling others as "braindead."

As to your qustioning why "The Screws" and those at "Anusfield" humoured "The Red Shites" and have only just published the story officially now then perhaps it is because of the fact that details have been released in court? I worked as a reporter for a local rag for six months when younger and though I'm no expert on media law the things you can publish without some kind of evidence to back it up are limited...although this hasn't necessarily stopped papers owned by Murdoch in the past. The authorities may well have been aware of the events at the time but if nobody involved was prepared to make it public then any newspaper would have to print the story based on hearsay, which could easily land them in trouble. As to them blaming his poor performances on his parents marital strife I don't know.

Who cares if fans sing Steve Gerrard is hard when he's not? It's just a football song, why sing you fat bastard at Frank Lampard when he's not fat? It's banter and nothing to be taken seriously. And why bring Vinnie Jones into it? I take it you're trying to imply that his hard man image is justified and Gerrard's isn't? It's a pointless rhetorical question (though it clearly isn't rhetorical as you put in a direct way and the answer isn't implied) because nobody could possibly know whether Vinnie Jones would have a fight with a gangster or not. Or perhaps you've taken his Guy Ritchie films to heart? The fact is it's irrelevant as to whether he would or not. Liverpool fans don't sing about Gerrard being hard because they think he's tough off the pitch but because of what he does on it...although after watching his diving in the Blackburn game he didn't look all that hard.

As to why the Liverpool fans didn't get involved then perhaps it's because they're not vigilantes...most of us would consider that a good thing. It just seems your entire post is pointless, on the one hand trying to conjure up some conspiracy theory as to why the events were not reported earlier and on the other to have an unjustified pop at Scousers. You clearly see yourself as quite intelligent because of your rhetoric but your post has no substance and any idiot can ask meaningless rhetorical questions and present them in a sensationalist way.

Come on then Durnerz, don't keep us in suspenders...

His Mrs (Alex Curran) was doing sexual favours in return for cocaine with a local gangster known as 'Pancake' (Because he flattens people, ironically)

This lead to Gerrard demanding a DNA test on his daughter Lexie.

Why is it that you seem to find such pleasure in patronising people who dare to be even slightly critical or questioning of your posts? Perhaps it is a way of making yourself feel more intelligent? Whatever the reason, it really is not an endearing quality. I would suggest that it is yourself who suffers from insecurity regarding your intellect.

The way that you slip in words such as 'cataleptic' is something I find particulary humourous. You do this only because you believe that there are people on these boards who won't know the term, and that the fact that you can gives of an air of intelligence. Its not the case. It does not prove that you are eloquent.True eloquence is the ability to put across a point in such a way that it can be understood by anybody. All it proves is that you know the term for a sufferer of a medical condition.

I'd do something about that inferiority complex if I were you LeeCovFox. How about investing in a thesaurus (for someone who claims to know what 'cataleptic' means you don't half drop a lot of 'malapropisms' arf! arf!)?

Must say I'm just a little nonplussed to see you defending the dubious right of witless, humourless ****** (can't believe on this occasion that so many failed to see my tongue superglued to my cheek) who attack any Chandler post without first consulting their (shrivelled) grey matter to er... get away scot free.

It probably comes as a surprise to you that scumbag 'rights' rankle a little with someone like me who subscribes to that old school motto: 'He who doth dish it out must also taketh it.'

OK LeeCovFox, you can pick up that chip of yours and put it back on your shoulder...
