Fighting back at the glory hunters?

How do you do it? How do you silence them?

I'm having really trouble at the moment, Everyone taking the piss out me and my club because of the wasters we watch on the pitch, and they had even more to laugh and take the piss out of when they listened to the Radio Leicester Phone-In last night. Its only friendly banter but can go abit too far sometimes.

Their all the usual Chelsea, Liverpool, United "fans" who really know how to support their clubs

I use the same old thing "How many times you been to see your team this season?". Reply "Last week, On Sky"

So today I decided to show them how easy it is to be "one of them" i've decided to "support" Man Utd, I've got my old United shirt out from when I used to support them as a kid (Until I saw the light and changed allegiances to Leicester ) and show them how much of a United fan I am - I'm doing it mostly to wind the Chelsea fan I know up. I might get my old Leicester shirt with Heskey on the back, that might get him biting abit, maybe.

So how do you silence the glory hunters?

I'll admit our team is shit, I'm not gonna lie for our bunch of wasters but when someone slags your team off it's hard to stay quiet and its hard to reply when what they are saying is true.

I allways used to say 'Ive seen your team more times then you have you thick ****'.

Or How many games have you seen?

Edit. Just seen your Sky quote. Just laff back at that.

To be fair I laugh at the Radio Leicester moan in most of the time.

As Raj says AK47 is the tool.

Seriously if you can't make a glory supporter look stupid then thats a poor show. I get by by knowing more about their clubs than they do. Point out they aint football fans, offer to explain the offside rule to them or take them on a day trip to Manchester one day etc.

True a lot of them won't know their next few fixtures. If i ask them that they struggle and go red.

I just laugh it off most of the time and make a comment to deny the fact that we are where we are. I just say it'll all be alright and we won't be playing League One football next year.

Some people say that I must be mad to go every week, but I'd rather be mad than not go at all.

Has anyone every gringly watched "Your on skysports".

Oh my god. "And heres bellend #1, a Manure supporter from Southend"...."Bellend #2, A Liverpool fan from Exeter"

Same here actually and I did it today, I came up with a fairly very easy football trivia question and asked it to the Chelsea fan "Who scored the fastest goal in an F.A Cup final"...He hadn't got a clue, now really i'd say most football fans could tell you the answer to that, but a "fan" of the club who did it didn't even know, Outside the top 4 he knows fuk all about football really as you say.

Just play up to it, like I used to do. I have the ability to laugh at my own team, they don't. You know deep down that you are a better supporter than them, and they do to.

If not, just follow Raj's example

Roberto Di Matteo.

Even I know that - without having to cheat.

But this mainly due to the fact that he used to play for my local team when he was younger.

We've got one lad at college who thinks he's the biggest Yanited fan ever. This is all because he buys every home and away shirt, watches every match on Sky and learns all the words to the chants. I think he's been to one of the knock-off Champs League games and that's it.

At the end of the day, they can have all the success they want, but I gurantee they won't feel the passion we do. That feeling when you get drawn against Forest. The feeling when you score away at Preston. None of the feelings like that, 'cos it's not in there blood. That's something you'll always have over a glory fan.

There's a "Villa fan" at work who is constantly banging on about them and their result at the weekend but hasn't been to a game for the whole 18 months I've been working there. Actually no, that's wrong, he went to Arsenal v Chelsea at the Emirates earlier this season when someone got him a free corporate ticket (and constantly banged on about that the day before he was going as if he was going to the Moon).

So in the lead-up to our game there this season he was going on about how we were going to get slaughtered and I was laughing it off. The next day I sent him a link to the BBC report of the game saying I was having trouble opening websites and could he see if it worked on his computer. He didn't even know the score until he clicked on that link. I can't imagine not knowing a Leicester score even five minutes after the game had finished if I couldn't go to a game for whatever reason. For the Hull home game I was at a wedding and was still checking my phone every five minutes even during the ceremony.

It's just a whole other world for some of these people.

I'm getting a whole load of abuse at college at the moment from the big four "fans".

All the usual Leicester are shit and going down bollocks we've all heard before but it pisses me off when they actually know nothing about the team or their "own" team.

Really there is no way to fight back at the glory hunters. You will get them everywhere you go and they will always win because their team wins every week. The only argument you have is that they've never (or hardly) seen their team play. And even that doesn't work.

Most of the glory hunters at our school know not to wind me up about Leicester. I always drop in little comments about how they "support" there clubs. I always get the sense that in a way they are jealous about how I can follow Leicester and they can't follow there "club".

I've helped to convert one ex Yanited follower in my time. He now knows how it is. :P

What a fantastic few sentences. I couldn't agree more.

Supporting Leicester City is a way of life.

Agree with that bad boy. Well said.

Yeah, we all feel like shite now, but when you support your club through stuff like this when something good happens, or when you do get success, you realise how much you love, care for the club and how proud you are. And you also feel part of it and real connection with the club.

Equally at times like this you wonder if any of those times or anything good can happen!

I've tried explaining this too them, but they won't really listen.

I go to a physio who is a physio of a non-league team and he realizes why I go Leicester (Slightly better quality of football - Only marginally though) but at the same time doesn't quite understand why I pay so much to watch Leicester, when I could go and watch this team and get to know the players personally, travel on with the team to games, e.t.c, and really feel a part of the team, and feel success, e.t.c.

Which I suppose you feel an even more euphoric feeling as part of that even close knit unit when you get success, which a "real" fan (Unlike the glory hunters) I can understand. If you explained that to a glory hunter they wouldn't have a clue what you were on about though.

You it all kicked off today with the Chelsea fan because I said "Looks like you season's fooked now ah?" and he just replied with "But your going down ain't you?" I said "Yeah but i'm talking about 'your' team"..."Ahhhh nah your going down, 'C'mon Leicester'...Ah well season tickets will be cheaper next season ah?".

Basically I was saying Chelsea have almost fooked it but he was using Leicester to change to subject for his 'teams' failure.

I also know a Man Utd fan, but he is sound, He doesn't take the piss, he doesn't constantly go on, and he seems to show the feelings of a real fan, when they lose he's as bad as me when Leicester lose, basically he doesn't act like the glory supporter.

My boss is a spurs fan, leicester born and bred, leicester family, everything, same goes for my general manager, he's an arsenal fan and some of the lads i work with support man u, nobody has ever lived outside leicester and it pisses me off when they take the piss.

One of my best friends is a man u 'fan' and knows every chant, every fact, every single thing, how many times has he been to watch them? never. half the time he wont even watch their matches all the way through on t.v. I would love to make him shut the fook up. ideas?

Oh and whenever it was that man utd lost and city won on the same day (it did happen, honestly!) he suddenly became a city fan until the results went back to normal! AGHH!

When I was at school, I always got "Leicester are whatever and whatever" from the glory-hunters, but then they compared their team's results to ours (this was when we were in the Premiership), as if it was some kind of marker. For instance, I remember one time when we played Leeds and beat them 3-1 at Filbert Street, and some Man Utd "fan" came up to me and said "well we beat Leeds 4-0 or something like that so we are better than you". Well I know that don't I?

Anyway, if you notice, glory-hunters are insecure, always trying to find ways of telling us they support the best team around, whereas, to us, real fans, we don't care about proving ourselves to other fans, we will support our team forever with a passion they will never understand. Even now, we are terrible, but I feel quite smug, because I am a true fan, and know what it's like to support a proper club, and not choose the easy option to follow a good team.

As the song goes- I'M LEICESTER TIL I DIE! :scarf::scarf: , whereas they'll be Man Utd til Chelsea or Arsenal win the league.
