truecityfaneric Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 What, like the Bristol City fan who was on 606 once, saying, and I quote "League 1 is awful. We are far too big for this league. We should be walking it"? YES - But are you far too big for this league? Or is it just your suppoters heads? Leeds are a good example. Why are you so anti Bristol ? I once heard a leicester supporter say that 'we should be in the prem if man u are there, so should we be there!' But its not just one on here saying it - is it? You don't get it do you? You will find out next season. Does leicester produce anything but a great rugby team ? please list!
Ashley Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Not all bad is it? (If Darlo go up for the second ground) Doesnt Darlingtons ground hold 25,000? Peterbrough Away Stand At least this stand holds 4,000.
Corky Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 YES - But are you far too big for this league? Or is it just your suppoters heads? Leeds are a good example. Why are you so anti Bristol ? I'm not anti- Bristol, I don't even care about Bristol, I wouldn't even have mentioned the place if you hadn't come on here. I expect it to be hard. Some Leicester fans are saying the things you think are "arrogant" (they are not by the way) because they are struggling to come to terms with what has happened to our football club. Come August, we know what to expect, we, as fans, will be ready for it. The majority will treat League 1 teams and supporters with respect. It will take a while to sink in, that's all.
Chimp Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Hey, that's quite nice actually, got quite an atmosphere, with all the trees and hillocks... makes me feel like I should bring a picnic. The more I look at these pictures the more I'm looking forward to next season, it's going to be an adventure.
act smiley Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 I have some seriously high expectations of Peterborough away.

Colchesters fantastically named new stadium (THE CUCKOO FARM) hahaha. great piss taking oportunity for us away fans. as if its not bad enough for them being called inbreds they now play football at the cuckoo farm. oh dear.
Sods Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Looking forward to. Northampton. Franchise Peterborugh Yeovil Carlise Leyton Orient Hereford Southend Swindon Cheltenham Leeds? Brighton Millwall Tranmere if its on a friday night. Ones i just can't stand thinking about but will most likely do regardless. Doncaster. Darlington. Huddersfield. Oldham. Hartlepool.
Len Finsbury Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Living in between Cheltenham and Swindon means a few away games with very little travelling - good times!
StroudFox Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Living in between Cheltenham and Swindon means a few away games with very little travelling - good times! So I am not alone in these parts!!
Basingstoke Fox Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 So I am not alone in these parts!! This is going to be a great season
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 These are the kind of venues hosting our club next season. I fear for home results when the away teams realise the Walkers Stadium has running water! What the shit? That looks like my Victorian Premier League team's home ground, and we get about 500 people to a game Having said that, the atmosphere there is awesome.
act smiley Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 It doesn't look like that anymore, its been redeveloped - that part is now a small covered end-terrace, like this Still somewhat small, though. I think its the smallest in the league at about 7000?
londonfan Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 lads, before you go disrespecting other clubs try doing some research: that terrace you're posting pics of at cheltenham doesn't exist anymore, it was replaced more than two years ago with a new 1,000 seater stand as shown below: so yes its small but not as bad as you're getting hysterical about
Cheltenham_Dave Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Whaddon Road looks like this now. The away end (holds 1000) is the new stand behind the goal. That has replaced the picture at the top of this thread.
act smiley Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 So I guessed the wrong end then? Oh well! To be honest, I'd have rather gone to that original one, at least its something a bit different. Bit disappointed that most of the grounds are just half-size bowl ones instead of interesting old ones with character and terracing.
Cheltenham_Dave Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 That original away end had great atmosphere, crap view, it's much better now, It's still small and close to the pitch, it won't feel like a championship bowl. The other end is a terrace, and the other side is a stand with terracing in front (only about one third of the pitch long, straddling the half way line). Best thing about WR is you can drink in a proper pub, leave at 2.45 and still make the kickoff. Most new grounds seem to be in the middle of nowhere with a lego bar to go with the lego ground.
act smiley Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 The other end is a terrace, and the other side is a stand with terracing in front (only about one third of the pitch long, straddling the half way line). Fat lot of good that does us away fans
Cheltenham_Dave Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 That old stand has a bar beneath it, You could use that before/after the game. Away fans (even in colours) are welcome.
Ozwin Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 I'm so going to some away games. The atmosphere will be awesome at grounds like that. With our fans we'll be making the stadiums expand with noise.
bryanj Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 The new Carlsberg stand has replaced the old uncovered end.
Daggers Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 I preferred Dagenham Dave. He has a garden shed as big as that.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 He has a garden shed as big as that. I have a Barry Hayles as big as that
Simi Posted 6 May 2008 Posted 6 May 2008 Can't beleive the disrespect to these grounds. I'd choose them over ours any day of the week. To the fans that feel they've been disrespected , I can't wait to visit these grounds.
