Master Fox Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Remove that sig now. It's making me horny feel free to lust all over it
purpleronnie Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 TBH one of the few good things about playing at the lower leagues is grounds like Cheltenham, beats our boring bowl every time.
kyleolly Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 You still have to pay £20+ to get into shit holes like yeovil
SamL Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Cheltenham brings back bad memories. I'd booked a Travelodge for the pre-season friendly last season, only to get there to find it wasn't open. The severe flooding had meant it had to be closed due to a lack of water (Health & Safety). They didn't even contact me to tell me. So I trekked all the way there on the train, walked round in the blazing heat for 3 hours looking for the place. Never did see the ground due to the friendly being canceled as well.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 I class that as bad. Better than this wank-hole any day of the week. Went there for a friendly in 96, it was great. Can't wait to go to London Road. May as well make the most of a bad situation. Was that when Rooster smashed a ball just over the bar into the City end? Think he might have scored in the 80=something minute? Loads of Leicester fans made LOTS of fires in the away end. Got photos somewhere.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Better than this wank-hole any day of the week. Absolutely that is even worse than the Walkers, St Marys etc. They sponsor corner kicks ffs!! And the corporate stand where at the start of the game they want some noise and its dead silent
Basingstoke Fox Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Admission Prices Seating: In2Print Stand: Adults £18, Concessions £12, Under 16's £7. Stagecoach West Stand: Adults £17, Concessions £11, Under 16's £7. Family Area: Adults £13, Concessions £9, Under 16's £5. Terrace: Adults £13, Concessions £9, Under 16's £5. Concessions apply to over 65's and students (who have first registered at the Club, to obtain a Student Membership Card). Now thats good! In the terraces!!
Shrenchel Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 All those photos like proper grounds I'd fooking love go to, far from unappealing. As SUSD said though, a lot of them aren't as good now they've been turned into all seaters. Much prefer them to the boring Walkers esque bowls of Coventry, Hull, Southampton, Reading etc though. Gutted I won't get one last trip to Ninian Park though.

At least you didn't have to live in the area at the time. 2 weeks without running water is a nightmare.
SamL Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 At least you didn't have to live in the area at the time. 2 weeks without running water is a nightmare. I know pal. I can't begin to imagine what that would be like. I remember seeing all the trucks driving by with a load of water on. Me missing out on a night in Travelodge was nothing compared to what the local residents went through.

It was such good fun!!

Wouldn't have been Rooster in 1996, I can't remember too much about the match, actually. Drew 1-1 and according to Of Fossils and Foxes, Steve Walsh scored.
Guest Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 I was hoping for more standing. Oh well, League 2 should provide that.
Staf Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 I dont think these away days will be that bad for atmosphere they are old fashioned and closed in which is good and unlike a lot of new grounds in the championshiop these smaller grounds generate a good atmosphere although i wpuld rather be going to Bramall Lane than Huish Park

I'll be there.
Guest Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 i wpuld rather be going to Bramall Lane than Huish Park I wouldn't; we haven't won there for about 10yrs! Let's explore new territory!
thecannon Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Im looking forward to these away day trips . I know there is some grounds what has terracing. I have never been to a terraced ground. Is the atmospeare better?
HUFCPoolie Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Not all bad is it? (If Darlo go up for the second ground) Oh it is trust me! Darlo only average 3000 fans in a 25k seater stadium We call it the echo chamber.. Nice little song we got for them too. "there here there there there every fckin were empty seats empty seats

truecityfaneric Posted 5 May 2008 Posted 5 May 2008 Im not joking when I say this. Basingstokes ground is better than that It's about time reality got a grip on some of you so called footie fans. Cheltenham Town's ground has been redeveloped and is quite adequate for the likes of visiting teams like yours. It wasn't too many years ago, you where playing in a very similar stadia - I dont know how you managed though, you are sooo bigheaded you must have only fitted a few hundred in there at once. You have been relegated because you just weren't good enough this season. Why not be 'big' enough to take it and prove that you truly are the 'Big' club you keep claiming you are. By the way - both Bristol Football Clubs have in recent years taken at least 35,000 fans to cup/play off finals at the millenium and new Wembley Stadiums. They are both in the process of building new stadiums that will make your crisp packet stadium look what it is - much too big for a lower league club who have some supporters who think they have a God given right to the higher leagues. Enjoy your stay in league 1 ! As I'm sure you will be there quite a while. Such arrogance deserves no less.

What, like the Bristol City fan who was on 606 once, saying, and I quote "League 1 is awful. We are far too big for this league. We should be walking it"?
