Cheese Me Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 I'm assuming we won't be able to get him permanently now. Anyone know any more? Apologies if this should be elsewhere, wasn't sure where it should go but really curious to know if anything's been said.
Ultra Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 Unless he's ready to take a big pay cut in return for regular first-team football, no.
MikeyT Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 I guess in dreamland it would be fantastic to sign him permanently but just cant see it. Like the other poster said, cant imagine he would take such a big pay cut. I did hear from somewhere (i forget now) that he was on £15,000 a week so pffffft to any chances of signing him!
Corky Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 Would love him to stay, he would be feared by the rest of League 1, but I can't see it. His wages are quite high and probably won't fancy a season in the third division.
iancognito Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 There'll be more than a few takers for him at Championship level, so I can't see it, unless he wants to stay closer to his family in Brum. I'm surprised there weren't any takers for him in the bottom half of the Prem. People like Boro, Fulham, Wigan etc must have at least a squad place for him.
step Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 If are to have any chance of getting promoted then we need players like him
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 He did say he wanted to come here permanently but that was before we were relegated. As things stand, I can't see him playing in League 1 next year & I'm sure there'll be championship clubs interested. Shame though, I liked what he brought to the team & his attitude generally.
coale39 Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 I would be absolutely amazed if he stayed. He will go to a champ team.

Joinesy77 Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 Wont stay. Wages are too high anyway and got other midfielders so not biggest loss. reckon he'll go to a championship club.
!!Davio!! Posted 9 May 2008 Posted 9 May 2008 He would be so class in league 1, but will go to a championship club, he was only with us for a few games and he still was more inventive than any of our other midfielders and proved that he's more than able to be a great player in the championship...so we've got no chance of getting him playing in league 1...simple fact is, he's now better than we are, sad to say but it's true!

He might be if he could stay fit.
Bryn Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 He might be if he could stay fit. I fail to see your point. Is he renowned for being injured?
Bert Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 No.And he was too injured for my liking anyway. Well that's done it then hasn't it.
Guest shearfox Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 Hard to say really he did seem to enjoy it here, but we will have to see what happens and whether we are willing to offer him a good deal.
Daggers Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 Well that's done it then hasn't it. Did he give you value for money?
Corky Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 Did he give you value for money? Yes he did. That goal against S****horpe meant my lonely pilgrimage to Filbert Way wasn't wasted.
Joe. Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 He's definitely not a league one player. So yeah, I think we have no chance with him now.
SamL Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 He's definitely not a league one player. So yeah, I think we have no chance with him now. Can't argue with that. If we had stayed up, I think there we would've had every chance of signing him. He wanted to stay with us. But unfortunately, we've been relegated so I can't see him wanting to play in League One week in, week out.
Thracian Posted 10 May 2008 Posted 10 May 2008 He's definitely not a league one player. So yeah, I think we have no chance with him now. It would take an extraordinary deal or an incredibly inspirational advocate to persuade Hendrie to play Division One.

His wages are quite high and probably won't fancy a season in the third division. Yes but he is coming towards the end of his career now, he would be guranteed first team football with us in League 1, which he probably wouldn't get in the Championship, unless he went to Forest or Swansea or summat. He was on the bench a bit at Sheff Utd.

He was on the bench a bit at Sheff Utd. Well its up to Hendrie himself. I'm sure Sheffield United don't want him. He has always struck me as arrogant and big-headed, so will probably think he is too big or good for League 1 and won't bother with it. Hope I'm wrong though.
