How much money should we be spending on players pre-season?

Do you think our current squad good enough to win League 1?

Do you think we should be making 2 or 3 signings or 16 or whatever it was last pre-season?

Who any good would want to come to us anyway?

Do we want a squad of around 25 or 40+ again?

Who will buy our current players, if we want to buy more?

Do we sign up and coming youngsters for cheap prices or another Howard for millions?

We need a clear out and we need to play more of our talented youngsters rather than bringing in people ahead of them.

If we sign 1 or 2 (max) free transfers to add some experience who will come in and genuinely improve the team then great but the answer is not spending loads of money on players who want a pay day at a club who's spending is out of control.

Pocket change. The odd clever bargain in, along with the kids, overpriced crap out.

Doubt we'll be throwing that much at it - probably the money for Bell, funded by cashing in on a few players.

if we sell some of the guff that we bought this season it should leave us with a couple of m to spend on some young promising players who want to fight for the right to play in the championship wrather than wallow in their own pity of been sold out of the prem into a champinship team.

not that im still angry or anything...

Spend the money getting a manager who can organise and motivate what will be left of the currant squad.

I wouldn't give Holloway a penny

Not even if he needed a wee wee and was really busting and needed to spend a penny or have an accident?!

£500k-£1m. We've got capable players here at the club, including the youth, so one or two additions and some outgoings should be fine.

Less than a million on transfer fees. On a small number of players... the rest of the inbound players will be freebies.

Hopefully we'll generate a little bit of cash by flogging fluff players that some other deluded manager might rate in the division we just fell from (Hayles). This was a hope we all had for last summer, and that didn't go too well, so I'm not holding my breath.

We might generate more generous sums by flogging relatively prized assets (McAuley and/or Hume spring to mind). Hopefully not too many 'prized' assets will be sold. One or two just to balance the books and give us a little to spend on one or two 'quality' players.

We might shell out to get rid of a few shockers prematurely, but I'd rate this as somewhat unlikely at this time.

The net spend will be less than a million... hopefully not negative (that wouldn't be very ambitious).

£1m-£2.5m.

Although instead of blowing it on one player, i.e. Campbell, spread it around more. That should be enough money to build a decent squad size and of good enough quality to get us out of this division. Well, I don't see why we aren't good enough to get out of this division with the squad we have now :dunno: If we can hold onto the key players of course.

£500,000 - £1,000,000 for me.. to get 2 or 3 talented youngish players at a reasonable price who can make up the squad alongside our current crop of youngsters

more importantly though get rid of the "old hands" like howard and hayles who just seem to lollop around the pitch looking depressed - they were brought in for their experience and to help the younger players (allegedly) but i suspect have caused more problems than they've solved. get a decent price and we'll have a net income rather than an outlay

Are you assuming we're going to be keeping the likes of Mattock, Stearman, Weso, Hume, Gradel, etc?

I think the only way we're going to keep these players is if Milan puts an unreasonable value on them, which, tbh, I wouldn't put past him.

I hope he does!

I hope we keep them all, but i seriously doubt it!

I don't care how much we spend, I just hope that we sign players that are proud to wear our shirt, kiss the badge, show some pride and passion on the field!

Hit the nail on the head. Money is not important.

Yep. 100%. They're called the academy. Bring them in.

"....you can make your mighty bids

we'll be playing all our kids

And you won't beat the Leicester anymore"

How come the kids automaically have passion and pride for playing for Leicester?

I don't think 'bringing all of the kids in' is the right approach.

Yes, bring in one or two or three, but no more. Bring them into positions where pace is required - centre half, centre midfield, wings.

Anyone just watch the Leeds v Carlisle game? I couldn't tell the difference between that and any game I've seen at home all season. As I've said before, the football is so dire in the championship, it can't get any worse. Based on the game I just watched - I'll stand by that.

Bringing the kids in is not the answer. We need strong, physical, commited nutters in the team. We are too weak, we need strong, tall, big, physical players not afraid to get stuck in - and then put some fast, pacey, commited youngsters around that.

It's going to be nasty next season, we need players who aren't afraid to put themselves around a bit. We need nutters.
