I'm not sure money is all that much use in League 1 - relatively speaking of course.

What I mean is that, although we will be able to afford good players, they will probably not want to come to a League 1 club so the money we have is irrelevent. Having said that, it could give us the opportunity to snap up any young talent from Leagues 1&2 where other clubs cannot afford to.

Either way, I don't think a huge amount needs to be spent on the squad as it is. We will have to see what the situation looks like after players start being sold/released though.

I think the only money spent will be that generated by player sales. We may have to pay fee's to get some younger hungrier players.

To be honest, we should think about selling players before starting to talk about whom to buy.

The past few years of mismanagement have been nothing but shameful in that regard and we need to change that pattern.

Now.

How come the kids automaically have passion and pride for playing for Leicester?

How come the so-called "proven" and "experienced" Premiership and Championship players hardly ever showed that so-called "passion"?

AGREE!

Is it true we have about 40 players in the first team squad???

Thats a fcuking joke!!!We'd be lucky if 5-6 are good enough to play regular.

Problem is,whos gonna buy these wankers?

There are really two issues here.

1 How much do fans think we should/want us to spend.

2 How much will we actually spend.

Personally I think most signings will be funded by any sales we make and this will be necessary to change the squad. Now I know supporters (some) are suggesting stability but this current squad does not have the right balance/approach/quality and team ethic to get us out of this league. That is not to say that individually they are not good enought though some clearly are not but we simply do not function as a team.

As a fan I would hope that if whoever the manager is wanted a particular player then we would be able to at the very least compete to get that player. Personally I think we will spend somewhere between 500k and 1m on transfer fees net of outgoing players so total spend could be more like 2.5-3m which might include transfers/signing on/agent fees and wages though largely funded by the sale of certain players.

If we could keep our current squad I would say 500,000 - 1,000,000 pounds. If not maybe £1.5m - £2m

MM promised 4.5m of 'funds' available for the second year in his tender document to the board before his purchase.

Yes but that didn't assume all the wastage in year 1

And it certainly didn't assume year 2 would be in league 1.

We need to sell, not buy

You'd expect Mandahitch to flash the cash to ensure an immeadiate return to the championship. Its not about how much but how good will the players be should we sign them.

£0

We need a clear out and we need to play more of our talented youngsters rather than bringing in people ahead of them.

If we sign 1 or 2 (max) free transfers to add some experience who will come in and genuinely improve the team then great but the answer is not spending loads of money on players who want a pay day at a club who's spending is out of control.

AGREE FULLY!

27% of voters so far think we should spend more than 2.5million

can we call this 'another example of why not to listen to fans' poll?

I voted for seventy billion trillion pounds.

silly billy....

we all no that mandaric isnt that genourous!!!!

It's not always about transfer value, it's about the players.

We need to spend however much is neccesary to get a decent team together to challenge for promotion.

Even with some players leaving, we still have a team capable of winning the league. Throwing pointless amounts of money at the situation isn't going to change much.

How much money should we be spending on players pre-season?

Do you think our current squad good enough to win League 1?

Do you think we should be making 2 or 3 signings or 16 or whatever it was last pre-season?

Who any good would want to come to us anyway?

Do we want a squad of around 25 or 40+ again?

Who will buy our current players, if we want to buy more?

Do we sign up and coming youngsters for cheap prices or another Howard for millions?

It's not a matter of how much we spend.

Any fool can chuck money away as we have demonstrated in dramatic fashion this last season and more.

Winning things is about putting a team together and a new manager will first have to assess, yet again, what he's already got available.

As for who we sign it is all about what's needed. First and foremost it's ability that counts, not age.

I would say though that the squad size needs to be limited. Lst season we had far too many players milling about who were never going to contest a first team place yet were allowed to hinder the progress of others who might.

The fewer disgruntled players about the place the better.

But as a priority we seem desperate for three things.

More pace, greater threat from far more positions and more players capable of offering fast and consistent support from the back.

Why we find it so hard to attend to those simple needs I don't know.
