OriginalRobboFOX Posted 2 June 2008 Posted 2 June 2008 ...is a city so far up its own 'a-hole' its untrue. Discuss.
The People's Hero Posted 2 June 2008 Posted 2 June 2008 Since their bit of investment and some tasteless 'arty' architecture has gone up, I'm inclined to agree.
James. Posted 2 June 2008 Posted 2 June 2008 What is "Liverpool"? I don't think we have "Liverpool" in London. I'm guessing it's not very important.
The People's Hero Posted 2 June 2008 Posted 2 June 2008 What is "Liverpool"?I don't think we have "Liverpool" in London. I'm guessing it's not very important. I'm guessing he's talking about Liverpool Street Station.
Guest Posted 2 June 2008 Posted 2 June 2008 ...is a city so far up its own 'a-hole' its untrue. Discuss. I went to Uni in Liverpool. I say went, I didn't make it past Freshers Week. Horrible, horrible place.
Daggers Posted 2 June 2008 Posted 2 June 2008 I went to Liverpool and my entire house got stolen. Really, if it wasn't nailed down, which it was.... [carries on with tired old stereotype for another fifteen pages]
Sparky Posted 2 June 2008 Posted 2 June 2008 I enjoyed the place , decent weekend there with plenty to do
Raj Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Liverpool!!! I Hate anything to do with Liverpool. Scouse bastards. Even worse than Brummies!!!!
Marcoos Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Liverpool!!! I Hate anything to do with Liverpool. Scouse bastards. Even worse than Brummies!!!! I disagree - there is no-one worse than Brummies - FACT (although they are a close second). Plus Liverpool women are on average very fit. It's just the stupid accent that lets them down
Katy Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 The problem is with Liverpool it has a massive chip on it's shoulder for some reason
Zingari Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 i quite like it i think the "special community spirit" thing is all a bit of myth though and not too keen on very strong Liverpudlian accents
Durnerz Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 I found Liverpool a very friendly place when I went. Like any other city its got its bad areas, I never felt threatened.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 3 June 2008 Author Posted 3 June 2008 The problem is with Liverpool it has a massive chip on it's shoulder for some reason Hence it being up its own a-hole...
Durnerz Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 I think Londons worse, i've been to quite a few cities, especially abroad and they are all friendly and welcoming and are patient and tolerant towards language problems and enquiries, Londons just a shitpit for people who think they rule the world because they can memorise all the lines of 'Rabbit' by Chas and Dave.
stez Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 i have a view of liverpool, which isn't to flattering, but i'll be watching ths alexi sayle 3-parter on liverpool to see if i'm right or not. obviously though, with their world famous sense of humour, they should be great people, being able to laugh at themselves and that.....

ASH17LCFC Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Liverpool are still living the past, Beatles, 5 European cups and all the other crap. I hate Liverpool with a passion. I think i hate Liverpool more then i love Leicester.
Stevosevic Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 I prefer it to Leicester, it seems most people do to, i've never met anyone outside of Leicester who has a good word to say about the place.
Katy Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 I prefer it to Leicester, it seems most people do to, i've never met anyone outside of Leicester who has a good word to say about the place. It's not about leicester though is it

His 5Live interview with Simon Mayo is what sparked me off yesterday!! Liverpool - Beatles this, Cavern Club that, Capital of Culture, Anfield, Champions League, Paisley, American Investment, that massive hotel that had its own tv programme, music capital of the world, Thomas the Tank Engine, Brookside, the 60's, Red/Blue, the Mersey, theft, the down trodden (boo hoo), blah blah blah blah....
Durnerz Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 they do seem to have a reputation for great comedians but i can only think of jimmy tarbuck and ken dood who are all the others ? there must be loads Ricky Tomlinson? Oh wait you said great......
Zingari Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Ricky Tomlinson?Oh wait you said great...... yes ; him and tom O'Connor ..........not exactly "greats" though are they ? is the "liverpool comedian" thing all a myth
Katy Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 yes ; him and tom O'Connor ..........not exactly "greats" though are they ? is the "liverpool comedian" thing all a myth The thing is they all THINK they are comedians, that's the difference. People are laughing at them not with them
