Professional Footballer Arrested

Hi, I am here to ask you not to judge Super Luke. Having met him on many occasions I can tell you he is not your average chavvy young footballer.

I also pose the question, have you ever broken the speed limit on the motorway?

I think this is just a sheer tragedy.

I am so gutted for the kids family and for Luke.

I am not judging him, I'm just giving facts.

I don't drive (yet) either.

Indeed I have.

Don't think I've ever been held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving though.

As a friend of someone who is still being dragged through police procedure after a fatal car accident despite there being nothing the person could have done, I would also be very wary of criticising McCormick. I now know that these things are taken very seriously, take months and are generally brought to court no matter what. This will be long and drawn out and he is set to face a lot of stick no matter how culpable he is. He won't draw any from me until he's found guilty.

sorry.... if it was down to speeding how can you justify that someones kids are dead one of the worst things that anyone can ever imagine happening by trying to say because everyone speeds, therefore it's just an accident is so wrong on so many levels.

IF he was speeding or drink driving and responsible for the accident then he should imo be sent to prison for Manslaughter and would deserve everything he gets.

but as we don't know many details yet you have to reserve judgement.

If he was driving dangerously or over the speed limit then it is his fault and should be punished for it regardless of whether he's a footballer or not.

Did anyone else read "The dead children had been travelling in a silver Toyota Previa people carrier with two other children and two men." as being a bit... blunt

Yes :(

I'm judging nobody until someone is convicted. What an awful tragedy :(

What else do you expect them to write? :dunno:

My thoughts are with the families of those involved. What a terrible accident.

Even if Luke Mcormick is an alright bloke or whatever, he shouldn't have been breaking the speed limit.

Come on, were they supposed to write 'not quite alive' children...?

Shame this, tragic loss, and the culprit will get a reduced sentence like Lee Hughes. Wankers.

Assuming he did it, what would be the likely sentence/charge that he would get? I would be expecting him to get a prison sentence... but then again, I don't know the exact circumstances.

Are you sure? Think hard, you might have forgotten. It's not like you're a young man anymore.

The only reason this thread was created was out of a bizarre and morbid fascination with celebrity that permeates through society nowadays. "Oh my god who was it, let's search for footballers who are 25 years old" blah blah blah.

2 children died.

Hmm, bit heavy for a Sunday morning, I think I'm going to go and get some sunshine.

If the accident was caused by his recklessness, he will be punished. If it was a genuine accident, I'm sure he'll be suffering enough without people speculating and becoming judge and jury without all of the facts. It's the way of world now, the curtain twitchers will prevail.

And who are you to judge me?

If a professional footballer hadn't been involved would you have still created a thread about this story?

Terrible tragedy. Wonder who the footballer is?

If a professional footballer hadn't been involved would it have made the news at all? It's not my fault it's only news worthy because a footballer was involved. And on a football related forum I feel it's fairly topical.

You didn't answer my question anyway. Who are you to judge me? You have no idea how I was affected when I read it.

I was highlighting how the media feed our obsession with celebrity. My original comment wasn't aimed solely at you, it was aimed at all the people in this thread speculating over who it was.

"Who are you to judge me"?

What's that mean? I can pass an opinion like anyone else, that's what we're all here for. You don't have to agree with it. I'm not claiming to know how you were affected. My point was that had a professional footballer not been involved this thread wouldn't exist. Celebrity involvement overshadows the real tragedy.

I'm gonna need to ask around now. Can I let you know for sure later?

The children who died or something?? The way it reads is as if the children were already dead travelling in the car... like the car was carrying corpses to travel somewhere or something
