Dr The Singh Posted 10 June 2008 Posted 10 June 2008 I've also heard that he had stopped in a hotel, but as you say. He was up extremely early to drive back to Plymouth, or wherever he resides. What this also raises is, I wonder how much he'd had to drink and the time it does actually take for that alcohol to completely leave your body and for you to be under the limit. This is something thousands and thousands of people are risking doing each and every day and they probably don't feel in the slightest bit drunk come the next day.Something needs to be done about that. I know it's a very flawed concept but having to take a breathelizer test each time to start your car may solve part of this. So true, hence I never drive the next day after a sess and never during the week on work nights!!! No matter how sober you feel the next day, the alcohol is still in your blood stream!! Personally I agree with Katy and others and a total alcohol ban for driving should be inplemented, there's too many variables as to how much you can drink and how long the effects are!!!
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 June 2008 Posted 10 June 2008 Obviously the biggest sympathies have to go out to the familes of the children, butI do feel for him, a bit, he's not the first person to go and drive the morning after a night out, probable thinking he's fine, and that the roads would be clear anyway. Now he's got to live with the fact he's killed two children and is looking at Prison for gawd knows how long, and after that a seriously damaged career which was looking quite promising. Yes stupid thing to do and why he had no insurance I don't know it's not like he's hard up but we all do stupid things, I've got in my car the morning after a piss up and have probable been slighlty over the limit. Doubt im the only one on here.
The People's Hero Posted 10 June 2008 Posted 10 June 2008 A few times I've been out to watch City, drank all day and then been in pubs/clubs/casinos etc, got my head down around 4am and then driven home after a few hours sleep. Not clever I suppose.

Exactemundo my friend, if found guilty he'll be looking at being eternally hated in this country becuase there's children involved and I doubt that after serving a lengthy prison sentance (after being made an example of) the national press will allow him to get another proffesional club. His name will be mud. And I bet half the people half the journalists, people who listen to the journalists, people who write into 606 or here saying "throw the book at him" have done something similar at some point in their life, only difference being they didn't get caught.

McCormick was stupid, and his career etc are now over...but a lot of people have drunk while over the limit etc and as Mablo mentioned, they just didn't get caught or didn't have an accident.

Next day, big difference, I have little sympathey who go out get twattted and drive home the same night. My point is also alot of people would have done something similar to McCormick and thought absloutley nothing of it, I was watching the report on the TV with someone who was shouting abuse at the tele like theres no tomorrow, about three years ago we were at a wedding he drove back the next day (granted in the afternoon) but he would of more than likely still been over, I certainly still was.

Just Cause i have 'Alcohol is the answer, but I cannot remember the question' in my sig does not mean i drink and drive ok,and what gives you the right to make stupid coments like that, you dont even know me. and has for people doing it and not getting caught, well this footballer got caught, and 2 kids are now dead.

Yeah that's what I meant, but being still over the limit maybe? I learnt somewhere it takes an hour to get one unit of alcohol out of the system. So a few hours sleep before driving off would hardly take a whole day's worth of drinking to somewhere under the limit. I'm not condoning McCormick's behaviour at all, it just seems some people believe it's ok to drive the day after, possibly still over the limit, just providing you don't kill someone.

It's yet to be proven that it's his fault.

But there's still a difference between getting up the next morning to leave at 10am or whenever, and getting up early enough that you managed to get to Bolton from Staffordshire by 5:45am.
Dr The Singh Posted 10 June 2008 Posted 10 June 2008 But there's still a difference between getting up the next morning to leave at 10am or whenever, and getting up early enough that you managed to get to Bolton from Staffordshire by 5:45am. Yep, the issue is we all know that alcohol remians in your system for 14 hours or so...going a bender the night before and then drivin 6.00 am in the morning dpoesn't take a cenius to know your over the limit!!!

Thats true but again we don't know how much he drank either.
Dr The Singh Posted 10 June 2008 Posted 10 June 2008 Thats true but again we don't know how much he drank either. Very true, from what I know from the media is that he was at a wedding reception, hence can only assume he was razzled the night before or atleast consunmed more then 2 units of alcohol!!
Alexikokopops Posted 10 June 2008 Posted 10 June 2008 Thats true but again we don't know how much he drank either. Well we know he was over twice the limit at 6am, from that I guess he'd drank enough to know he shouldn't get up at 5am to drive.
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 June 2008 Posted 10 June 2008 Well we know he was over twice the limit at 6am, from that I guess he'd drank enough to know he shouldn't get up at 5am to drive. Hadn't herd that. Twice over the limit aint actually that much though is it, I bet loads of people are that far over after a night out. I'm not trying to justify his actions it was very carless and stupid as said, but I think more people need to be made aware of the fact that alchoal doesn't leave your body just becasue you've been asleep.

Twice over the limit. just let you know, the police use the lowest reading to use in court,so it could have been quite high, poss nearer 3,but we will never know,it appears he was swerving all over the motorway, according to witness reports. any way we will have to wait untill the court case, cause till then its all paper talk. and no i dont drink and drive after weddings the next day, cause i'm a grumpy old ****er no one invites to weddings,
Father Ted Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 What's the latest on this, does anyone know? Not heard much for a while
Manwell Pablo Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Not heard much for a while ...should think he's been charged and is awaiting a court appearance.
purpleronnie Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 I think the funeral for the 2 kiddies was the other day, brings it home. Just don't drink & drive how hard is that to understand.
