Ultra Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 I seem to remember plenty of noise at the last home game - at least in the first half. We also had a 30000+ crowd. How many on here can remember having that at Filbert Street?
DBEightyFive Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 We also had a 30000+ crowd. How many on here can remember having that at Filbert Street? Never as it only held about 22000
Uncle Albert Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Walkers looks better than Filbert Street, are you serious? Well said Ronald. Filbert Street was alot better, week night matches were always the best.
Sparky Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Fooking loved Filbert street , so many great memories from the place . Feel sorry for lads 15 and under who never experienced it and think that the walkers atmosphere is the norm , L1 and the Kop in the walkers have absolutly fook all on SK2 and SK3 and later when we went all seater SK1
DBEightyFive Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Filbert Street was alot better, week night matches were always the best. That 3-3 draw with Arsenal midweek will live in my memory till I'm in a wooden box!! What an awesome night!!
Uncle Albert Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 That 3-3 draw with Arsenal midweek will live in my memory till I'm in a wooden box!! What an awesome night!! Athletico Madrid aswell, before the game. **** me.
wurmer Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Filbert Street without any doubt. No atmosphere at Walkers because the away fans are sooo far from the Kop.
demon_dog Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 No hesitation with this question, FILBERT STREET. Remember going way back in the 60's when the terraces were all standing. Over the years have seen some goodtimes there. The new stadium lacks the atmosphere and camaraderie of the fans for some reason.
fox123 Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 I remember some study done late 90's where we had the loudest fans in the prem Now I was just about to post the very same thing....the study was focused on our 'Kop' and all other grounds loudest sections....Leicester's Kop had the loudest out of all teams in the Prem....that will never be re-created in the Walkers amazing days.....but I guess we have to move on and make the most of what we have!
ibbosuk Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Never as it only held about 22000 Give over!!!....I seem to remember clinging to a rail squashed in amoungst 42,000 sellout crowd against Arsenal in the FA cup got a 0-0 here and losing 0-1 in the reply Charlie George goal I think ???
Webbo Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 I remember standing amongst 29,000 at the back of the double decker against Shrewsbury in the cup quarter finals, with rain pissing down my neck through the leaking roof. Great atmosphere, crap facilities. You pays your money you take your choice I suppose.

The study was taken from a game that we actually LOST 4-2 at home to Chelsea
melrose Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Never as it only held about 22000 22,000 my arse! 1983 last game of the season against burnley 29,000
Anorak Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Got to be filbo, even the odd time with a concrete pillar in the way or craning my neck at the back of the east stand.
Guest Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 The magic of the night time game at Filbo has been missing since we moved to the Walkers. There was a glimpse of it against Birmingham last year, but it was never the same.
MikeyT Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 You don't know what your doin Hahaha! I think im actually half and half to be honest mate!
Corky Posted 12 June 2008 Posted 12 June 2008 Most definitely Filbert Street. I have such great memories of the old place, and I keep reading "Leicester til I die- The final season at Filbert Street" and "Farewell to Filbert Street". I can't help it. I don't mind the Walkers, but the atmosphere isn't great and the football crap. In time, I'm sure it will grow on me.
DBEightyFive Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 22,000 my arse! 1983 last game of the season against burnley 29,000 I wasn't even born then!! But then I can't even remember what figures I put into my very important spreadsheet yesterday let alone 15 years ago!!
thybluefox Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Tbh, I still don't think fans have settled in the new stadium. When everyone has found the best place for them, it'll improve. Like this coming season, loads of people are moving to L1. Really, I'm clutching at straws. Good football makes it a good atmosphere, but lets not get into that debate.
Shrenchel Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Obviously Filbo every, single, fooking time. However, there are worse new grounds than the Walkers and hopefully gradually L/K will establish itself further as the new kop and we'll get some decent atmosphere going at most games and not just the occassional few. I'm sure in 80 years time some city fans will be moaning about how much better the Walkers was than Super-Extreme-McDonalds-Calsberg-Red Bull-Alan Sheehan Tribute- Dairylea Dunkers- Arena Bowl Stadium Extravaganza
Halfsy Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Has to be Filbert Street for me too. Some amazing memories there, including Bergkamp's hat-trick in that dramatic 3-3 thriller with Arsenal. Unfortunately the eerie silence of the Kop after Wycombe's winner in the F.A Cup quarter final will always haunt me when i think of that ground. The Walkers will have some great memories for us too, unfortunately we've only had one successful season there. We need to get the atmosphere of pens 1-3 of the old Filbert Stret Spion Kop next to the away fans in L! at the Walkers! -x- Jordz. -x-
OzFox Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 Filbert Street for me. It had character and a great atmosphere. Worth a goal start in some games I find the Walkers rather bland and soulless..just another identikit stadium
