Chairman of the Bored Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Tartanowl, you're the first sensible Sheffield Wednesday fan I've encountered. Good luck to you.
DanTheFox07 Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I'm fairly happy with the appointment, played some decent football at Soton if I recall correctly in his brief tenure there I dont know if Im right or wrong here, If my memory serves me right wasn`t pearson in charge of southampton when they beat us? Anyway I think we do need to get behind the new man, he needs to succeed where all managers have failed in so many places, hopefully get linked with some decent players in next few weeks.
thecannon Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I'm absolutely delighted to see Nigel get a chance at a club like yours. I hope he is as successful for you as a manager as he was for us as a player. Nige was my hero and personal favourite player during the time he was with us. He was our captain courageous and our rock at the back for years. He was the man who lifted the trophy when we won the League Cup in 1991 beating Manchester United in the final. We were and still are the last team outside the top flight to win a major English trophy. Those doubting him are being very unfair in my opinion. He may not be a big name or be particularly experienced but you will not find a more committed hard working man in football. He did a very good job at Southampton for the 3 months he was in charge there. Keeping them up but sadly at your expense. The result and 3 points at West Brom in particular was a massive achievement. You should back your new manager and hopefully he will get you back to where you belong. Good luck for next season, especially against the Leeds Scum, and good luck to Nigel Pearson. Wednesday Legend. You only said that cause you beat us 3 1! Didn't you?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 You must have finished watching that game early - I seem to remember a certain Chris Brunt equalising to make it 1-1. Beat me to it.

RedOnRed Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 Personally, I like having rival fans from real clubs contributing to the site - it makes a lovely change from those plastic ones from Franchise and the bitter little ones from that no-mark team from Devon. Surely you don't mean MK Dons?
morris1234 Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 got to say we had a few drinks at freemans with the wednesday fans before them game and they were souns as a pound, not a bad word to say about us and wished us luck-turned out we needed more than that!

Trav Le Bleu Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 Do they have football in Devon? Barnstaple Town FC. Western League. Get in there! And I agree with you Tartantawny. He saved Southampton, which was quite an effort. I certainly felt for much of the season that they were doomed and thus we'd be safe. Which goes to show that he could be good! It also goes to show that my opinion can be wrong.
tartanowl Posted 21 June 2008 Author Posted 21 June 2008 You must have finished watching that game early - I seem to remember a certain Chris Brunt equalising to make it 1-1. You are indeed right. It was 1-1 and Brunty scored. My point however remains the same. I should have said the 3 points against the Pigs Tartanowl, you're the first sensible Sheffield Wednesday fan I've encountered. Good luck to you. I'm surprised. On the whole we're not a bad bunch really. Good luck to you too. You only said that cause you beat us 3 1! Didn't you? No I didn't. I wished you luck in your battle on this forum well before that game. That game turned our season round and sadly for you you didn't recover. Personally I wanted Coventry to go down. We're all Wednesday aren't we?
Ultra Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 I dont know if Im right or wrong here, If my memory serves me right wasn`t pearson in charge of southampton when they beat us? Yep. There are some decent ones already here, at least for this level. If Pearson can keep them, and add some quality in midfield and central defence (while offloading a lot of the expensive deadwood), he'll have made a decent start.
Ultra Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 Personally I wanted Coventry to go down. As did most right-thinking supporters... Shame it didn't happen.

To be fair there was alot of decent players for the championship.

Lovejoy Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 I really hope Pearson succeeds at Leicester. Admittedly this is nothing to do with the guy himself, but I just want someone to have a lengthy stint at this club and improve our fortunes a bit. Having said this, NP has always seemed a hard working, down to earth, decent guy. If he can actually crack the team spirit and get the team to be a unit, I think he could do well.
RedOnRed Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 Good luck with Pearson. He looks like a good appointment. It looks like we're now officially looking for a new manager now...

You'll enjoy Mr. Holloway's experience!, experience!, experience! policies when you see Barry Hayles and Steve Howard roll through the Mk Dons doors next season don't worry.

Hollowhead to Franchise. Now that would be a right ol' chuffter!
RedOnRed Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 I think the name Steve Tilson is being bandied around for us at the moment. His playing career certainly couldn't be any different to Ince's having peaked at Southend and also having played for the mighty Witham Town and Canvey Island - what ever leagues they are in.
