Jonezy Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 Decided to have a look at the squad. As it stands, it looks like this (might have forgot someone, its an easy mistake with the player turn around we operate with): Goalkeepers: Paul Henderson, Conrad Logan, Carl Pentney & Alex Cisak (?) Rightbacks: Richard Stearman, James Chambers, Lee Cox & Joe Magunda (?) Leftbacks: Joe Mattock & Alan Sheehan (?) Centrebacks: Patrick Kisnorbo, Bruno N’Gotty, Harry Worley, Lathanial Rowe-Turner & Scott Garner Right Wingers: Max-Alain Gradel Left Wingers: Levi Porter, Ryan Beswick & Jonathan Hayes Centre Midfielders: Stephen Clemence, Matt Oakley, Radostin Kishishev, James Wesolowski, Sergio Hellings & Andy King Forwards: Iain Hume, Dudley Campbell, Matt Fryatt, Louis Dodds (?), Barry Hayles, Reneil Sappleton, Eric Odhiambo, Steve Howard, Ashley Chambers (?) & Billy McKay - The questionsmarks I'm not sure if we have signed for next season. Also some players can cover other possitions, than were I listed them. So we are overloaded in the striker and forward department and look very thin on the wings (as frickin usual, Gradel better live up to the hype). Also leftback and centreback positions are concerns as I see it. On the left Sheehan hasn't signed a new contract yet, and Mattock is attracting interest from the rich boys in the Prem. In the centre Kisnorbo is out for quite a while, Worley and Rowe-Turner are a bit of unknown quality and N'Gotty is a tad slow. So how do everyone think Nige (its that what we are going to call him?) should go around making a decent squad for next season's tour around League One?
Cheese Me Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 * Sign a new centre back, a replacement for Stears and / or Mattock if they have to go (but fight to keep them) and maybe a new midfielder who can cover CM or play wide right * Play a side that looks something like this: Hendo Stears / J Chambers : Kisnorbo : New CB : Mattock / Sheehan / New LB Gradel : Weso : King : Porter Hume : Fryatt / A Chambers / DJ * Ship out one of Clem or Oakley plus Howard, N'Gotty, Kishishev and Hellings and maybe DJ if we can get a good fee * Give chances to McKay, Worley, Beswick, etc where possible to see if they're really ready yet * Don't go and sign a load of sh!te who don't improve the team * Kick some fighting spirit and passion into the lot of them and we should be OK

Candidcamera Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 The team needs a complete overhaul but give the players we have got a chance. I will be pleased to see the youngsters in the team. I don't look at the list and immediately think Clemence, Howard, Hayles and DJ are starters. This time in fact I don't think we need them. Central defence will need a change which is a shame but give Worley and the others a chance.
turkish14 Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 Im still optimistic we can get bell (if you believe whats been said in the transfer section of foxes talk) think he would do well for us,and he has experience of playing in this division.
teblin Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 Basically, i don't think there will be numereos changes unless lots of players leave. The side we have there is more than capable of getting promoted, with the addition of a centre back or 2. It depends if Nige can shake the losing attitude out of them.
smokey Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 I think sign a Centre Half, left and right winger and that will do if no one leaves! Im sure ther will be 3 or 4 leave so they will need replacing. Yes they all under peformed last year but if Pearson can get some belief in the camp then surley those strikers can get plenty of goals in League One and Oakley/Clemence can run the show, i just hope some of the promising youngsters are given a chance.
Flynny Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 We need to sign David Bell and a centre back and we'll be laughing, if the old heads stay focused and bring on the potential of the young-uns. Maybe a forward in and 10 or so out, too. It'd be embarrassing to have almost as many strikers as goals scored again. For some reason I see Clemence as instrumental this coming season. I criticised him last season but there's no questioning his attitude and commitment, it was his game that got him dropped and his injury that stopped him being recalled.
Tommeh Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 Kishishev & Hellings both have 1 year left on their contractsWe have had no news, that I'm aware of that Dodds, Sheehan, Cisak, and Magunda have signed their 1 year contract offers Scott Garner has signed a one year contract I'm unsure of Ashley Chambers situation Foxestalk Squad Thread Dodds is waiting on Lincoln to make him an offer, with Peter Jackson only just returning to work for them he's got a lot to get through, offering Dodds a contract is on his to-do list. If they offer him a 2 year he's almost certain to take it and be off.
Ultra Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 We really need a leader on the pitch, which we lacked at critical stages last season. If Pearson can bring one in (a centre-half would do nicely), it will be a massive step in the right direction.
dog_4 Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 not only a leader but we need pace in the team, we we're too slow going forward last year. asomah from barnet and elito from colchester would do nicely. Hopefully get kavanaugh and sign nicky maynard. leave it at that. four signings will do.

We need a Howard type player, you might think we need a better version, and you might be right but we shouldn't get rid until we have a suitable replacement.

I reckon our entire back four from last season will leave so thats where we really need to strengthen agree with the wingers being a problem but in this division to be honest it will be a lot of long ball back to front football
SussexFox Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 Howard Hume Fryatt Oakley Clemence Wesolowski Sheehan Worley ???? ???? Henderson A nice continental style for League one would be nice!

filbertway Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 Why?He's still here. Filbertway your sig is perhaps the worst I've ever seen on here. It is atrocious (sp) and appalling and pointless now Time for a new one.

davieG Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 Where do Garner and Magunda play? Both centrebacks? I've only ever seen Garner play CB Magunda I believe is normally a FB Though I can't remember whether it was left or right - so not much help there then.

They're worth much more in the bank than they are on the pitch
