chamfinn10 Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 PLAY THE YOUTH - the old uns aint a part of the club's future - after the performances of howard and bruno last season get em out for whatever we can get for em I agree Pearson needs to look at the youth not the old uns. I think we have a lot of potential in the young lads, thye are all hungry for it.GIVE THE YOUNGSTERS a chance, PS they cant do no worse that what LCFC achieved last season
iancognito Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 The team needs a spine in more ways than one. Hendo should be alright in goal but we need two new CBs, a proper midfield general and a main striker to take the load off Hume. Bell, Gradel & Porter will solve the wing problems.
Flynny Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 a proper midfield general Clemence. He was only a little bad whilst out of form in the Championship. In form in League One he'd be lethal. Most of the reason he looked bad was our total lack of movement for 3/4 of the season anyway. He thrived on making a killer passes but there was no-one making runs. I'd expect this to be sorted if Pearson's to have any success.
Sparky Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 If Stearman stays then i hope he is played at centre half , his natural position growing up. Think he could be a class act in the centre at this level

Think he could be a class act in the centre at this level Im not too sure about that as I think he adds an extra dimension to the team as an attacking right back. He loves to get forward and was certainly improving towards the end of the season on his crossing abilities.

Joe. Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 I don't see why Stearman can be touted as our future centre back when he's actually never played there for the first team yet From what I saw at the back end of last season he was useful as a full back both defensively and for attacking purposes.

Dont think he is being touted for the role purely my opinion and something id try in pre season . Decent in the air and excellant last ditch tackler with decent pace , surely something to try

Decent in the air and excellant last ditch tackler with decent pace , surely something to try It's just I'd seen it quite a few times from people that's all. It may be worth a try in pre-season, I wouldn't reject that but I still see Stearman as our right back next season (well, that's if he stays of course)...

Thats what friendlys are all about , during a tough season not many chances to experiment so at least worth a shot
smokey Posted 22 June 2008 Posted 22 June 2008 And it's his natural position. Yes your right, played there for the youth team for a couple of years, think it could be a good move to try him back in his proper position!
mancunianfox Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 I can't say I'm too bothered about clean sheets this season. I'd like to see a Leicester side scoring some goals tbh. I'd like to see Stearman at CB alongside Kisnorbo but I think he would have to work on his strength over the summer. Sheehan is good enough for L1 and I think we really missed the chances that he could create and Chambers would be able to get forward from RB as well. I think King should be given a chance now we have dropped down the distance and he has already shown that he can strike the ball from distance. I'd also prefer Clemence over Oakley if we wanted to keep one of those two as Clemence and Wesolowski have shown in the past that they can play well together. Gradel is a player that we must keep hold of and I would like to see him in a forward role as he has shown that he can score goals in this division. Fryatt and Hume are proven goalscorers in L1 and they already have a good understanding of each other. I think a long-term Hume/Fryatt partnership would help Fryatt regain his confidence and a confident Fryatt will score goals. He is a player that has to have a good season this year as his career is already in the last chance saloon. I think we should also look at keeping DJ Campbell as an option if Fryatt fails to improve. I wouldn't mind getting rid of a few of the less committed players that were brought into the squad. Howard, Kishishev, Hayles, N'Gotty, Oakley, DJ Campbell are all players who wouldn't be missed and I would understand if we offloaded Fryatt as well. I think we are best to cash in on Mattock now while we can as Sheehan could do a perfectly good job for us. I think we would maybe need to bring in a goalkeeper, a central midfielder and a left back but lots of transfers in is the last thing we need. Ironically Allen built a pretty good league one squad last summer and with a proper pre-season and some good coaching I think we are already all set for next season. Henderson Chambers Stearman © Kisnorbo Sheehan Wesolowski King Clemence Gradel Hume Fryatt or Campbell
Sods Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 20 Players that give a shit about the club and are proud to put the shirt on. That will do me, give me 20 Barry Hayles.
Durnerz Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Stearman would get bullied at this level by centre forwards in the middle so I feel right back is still his position where he can produce the most from. We desperately need a midfielder in the centre who can work his bollocks off for the 90mins and a gobby brick-shithouse style centre back.

James Wesolowski? Has to stay injury free this season I feel, but this could be the year for him. Their is lots of players who I think need to come out their shell more, Jimbo, King, Sheehan (if he stays), Obviously Gradel and Ashley Chambers. Chambers has been said to be the next big thing for us for a while now. I would like to see him being used a lot more and hopefully he will progress.

I think thats always the concern with having a player like Stearman at centre back but against big and slow strikers he would have a speed advantage and he would also be less prone to being caught out by the other L1 weapon - the pacey but talentless forward who thrives on catching out slow centre backs. I think a combination of sticks and someone who is stronger may work against both types of player.

Wesolowski - in response the the poster above Mancunianfox- will be a huge risk and we cant pin all our hopes on someone with a track record like his, Kishishev may be a sound option for this level but i'd look at covering our bases on that one.
teblin Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 We need to inject more pace in the side, A pacey foward and some pace on the flanks. The squad on the whole should be more than good enough to get us out first time. First of all though we need 2 new centre backs as cover for kisnorbo and replacemtn for mcauley.
Ric Flair Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Mark Jones from Wrexham would be a quality addition to our central midfield, he's available for a pittance as well as his contract is up.

By the sounds of it we have the perfect league one strike partnership; the lumbering oaf that is Howard and the rather quick and devastatingly talentless Hammond...
Tevez Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 I hope Magunda, Rowe Turner and Garner play a part in the League one campaign.
filbertway Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Stearman CB and Chambers RB seems a sensible option to me. Ideally Melchiot Dubes Stearman Mattock
Webbo Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 I don't know why people are planning a Kisnorbo, Stearman CB partnership. Stearman will almost certainly be gone soon and Kisnorbo is out till Xmas.
teblin Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 I'm guessing the first thing that Pearson will do is speak to all the player or players agents to find out which ones want to stay. That well influence where he needs to stengthen hopefully it will all be alot more methodical than last pree season.
