Vardinhio Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Well I have dropped Clemence for my FM08 league in league one. He's not a drafter, got Andy King and Oakley tearing the league to shreds!
hebangsthedrums Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Dogshite - bite their arm off. P/ex for Eastwood :w00t:
Flynny Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Keep. Old, determined, calm head that we need while blooding the kids, assuming we do so. Get rid of Oakley instead.
dandannieldanok Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Please sell, he coasted through 90% of the games and that isn't acceptable.
Noodle Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 apparently forest are interested http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/displayN...e=sidebarsearch
Joe. Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 apparently forest are interestedhttp://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/displayN...e=sidebarsearch And he was one of the few players to escape last season with any credit at Leicester, many believing his absence through injury in the final month was an important factor in their relegation. What a load of bollocks.
Head Honcho Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Talk about deja vu I remember last pre season when everyone was bigging up Clemence only for him to turn out to be, for want of a better, SHITE! Taxi for Clemence.
Staf Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Let him go i agree he shouldnt be made into a scapegoat for the last season but he wasnt good enough he had his chance he is probably on a big wage as well
Candidcamera Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 The player is just not of the calibre we expected. No point in keeping him is my opinion.
Matt Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 See ya Clemo, Close the door on your way out. ...and for 700,000! If the rumour which was about weeks ago with Stearman going there (Which I doubt with Prem clubs being interested) i'm definetly considering having a quid or two on Wolves to be relegated. Some of the players there being linked with it looks like there preparing for League One - Considering they were up near promotion last season. Mind you no wonder the Wolves fan I know will rate Clemence and Stearman (If the rumours are true) as "top 4 class"...Just like Jarvis, Keogh, Kightley, Murray, Hennersey - No joke he has said these player could make a Prem - A top Prem side. Then I said to him today "Haha - Your players don't want to play for you" (Talking about Olofinjana) and he said "Ah on his day he could fit into a Man Utd side - But on a whole we won't miss him". You might think he is taking the piss and winding me up but he is being deadly serious. Poor, deluded kid.
Vo Rogue Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Keep. Old, determined, calm head that we need while blooding the kids, assuming we do so. Get rid of Oakley instead. While he was flaffing around the field passing the ball to the opposition young Weso was match fit for 3 months keen to play and and didn't. So if he's going to keep young hungry players out get rid.
Darkzzz_ Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 I dont think he is as bad as what some make out, ok so he was poor for us, but we were just poor in general!! I remeber how class he was for Birmingham and i was just hoping for him to sign for us, i can honestly say i was disapointed! But i would keep him at this level... Let him prove his worth.... shake off that big time charlie tag!! I am sure he will stay, it seems as though he wants to !!

But that really is very questionable, Our players (Almost every single one of them) didn't want to play for us last season until the reality of a relegation on the CV set in, They didn't want to play for us last season in the Championship, Why would they want to play for us in League One. I didn't think he was that poor, but he was hit and miss. As we have all said before I'm sure no players go out to have a bad game, to play poor, to get a team relegated, however those things compared to not really wanting to play or not turning up and expecting to beat the opposition are very different and that mentality which i'm sure was in alot of the players minds is what got us relegated.
filbertway Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 I really don't see the benifit of letting Clem go unless we can find a good replacement. We should have our four main CM's as Clem, Oakley, weso and King in my opinion.
Nod.E Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 He was poor for the most part of last season, but so were most players. All you need to do is look at the cup game against Forest to prove he is a top player at the level of League 1. Forest came 2nd last year and he took a firm hold on that game, if he can pull out that kind of performance against weaker opposition and the odd opposition equal to the Forest of last year, he'll be a vital part of our season next year.

With fear of living in the past 5 years ago I remember saying "We have players at this club that are too good for the Championship but not quite good enough for the Premiership"...It's changed - We have players at this club that are ok for League One, but certainly no good for the Championship.

Unquestionably, Clemence did perform very well on the odd occasion like the Forest game, but we can't rely on this type of player anymore. He has the ability to piss all over League 1 but he hasn't showed the application anywhere near consistently enough. Also, when he does actually put 100% effort in he's just a poor mans Tiatto.
Super Arj Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 the way i see it is.. if he wants to leave, he can do one and that goes for every other player at this club because if they dont want to be part of our promotion battle, we dont want them so if clemence wants to leave, no one should stop him but if he wants to be part of a great club, stay ... simple as
Legend_in_blue Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 The whole situation revolving around Clemence is extremely irritating to say the least. He does "the captain role" at the end of last season and he does his radio interview. "I'm staying here to put this right. We shouldn't have gone down. I am staying here and getting us back up next season to where we should be. I'm not going anywhere, etc etc..." Yeah, yeah whatever. NP then comes in and within a few days is making his mark on the club. And fair play to the bloke, he's got a lot of sorting out to do. So what does "the team captain" do? Not a lot. Doesn't come out and say much. Stays pretty much quiet in the corner. Let's Wolves and Forest come knocking to see what's all about. But of course, he's not going anywhere, he's staying here. He already said so. Perhaps it's time for him to come out of his hole and reiterate this point. And I don't buy the 'maybe he'll have to go because we can't afford his wages' argument. If we're that serious about making the great escape in one season, we need to be serious about keeping on our so-called better players. I wouldn't quite put Clemence into this bracket based on last seasons inept performances, however, he has a lot to prove, and he has his word to stick to. You are "the team captain". Act like one, come out like one and tell us what it is you and your team are going to do about this season. We need leaders. You ready to step up to the plate?
filbertway Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Again, who can we bring in to actually replace Clemence. If we want to push for promotion next season don't we need to keep some of our better players?
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 Again, who can we bring in to actually replace Clemence. If we want to push for promotion next season don't we need to keep some of our better players? A two-legged stool in the middle of the park would probably perform better than Clemence did in 90% of his games for us last season. If you want a serious answer (a stool would just be silly) - Weso or Andy King could easily take his place.
Daggers Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 Is Clemence still here? Go on, get out of it you hopeless excuse for a captain, you. Shooo! Shooo!
Maybes Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 Mirror mentions him going WBA. WBA Jesus. They are far too good for him.
