teblin Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is lining up a bid for Leicesters Stephen Clemence (Mirror)Wolves plan a £700,000 bid for Leicesters Stephen Clemence. (star)
MikeyT Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 He's one of the ones who came out, right at the end of the season saying he was and wanted to stay here!
Moreton Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 I don't know whether to try and keep him or not. At Championship level for Leicester he was balls but when in League 1 things change.
teblin Posted 24 June 2008 Author Posted 24 June 2008 I personally think he's a good player, just didn't show it often enough last season, but he wasn't the only one.
teblin Posted 24 June 2008 Author Posted 24 June 2008 Mick McCarthy has lined up a £700,000 raid for Leicester captain Stephen Clemence. The Wolves boss wants to hand the 30-year-old an immediate return to the Championship. The Foxes are prepared to listen to offers for the former Birmingham midfielder, with Nottingham Forest also in the hunt.
SamL Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 A lot of players were poor last season, including Clemence, so it would be a little harsh to scapegoat him. I think he's a good player, he just didn't show it last season due to injuries and inconsistency. If we manage to keep him I think he'll be a big asset next season.
billyfox1 Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 I think we will be great for us next year. Seemed to be one of the few players that actually cared that we were going down.
eaststandtom Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 the guy was what we needed at the start of last season until injuries and a million different midfield partners came along. his form suffered and he looked crap at the end. not all his fault i feel. i think he would be a good asset. if he leaves he would be a total knob jockey after saying what he has said

Ric Flair Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 He'll be 31 if we go up next season. Still would do a job at that level for a few more years, but if we get anything near what we paid for him then i'd get rid.
Benji Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 He's one of the ones who came out, right at the end of the season saying he was and wanted to stay here! But if the club say pack your bags we need the cash what do you want him to do, i doubt he asked wolves and forest to make bids
Bryn Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Sell, he'll never be worth that much again, he's getting on and he's injury prone and he's average at best.
kidder_wolf Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 I think we could do better than him. We need a top quality replacement for Olofinjana who is leaving for £3m

MC Prussian Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Sell to the highest bidder! (I'll never forgive him for his inept performance away at Watford)
mancunianfox Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Who replaces Clemence if he leaves? King, Wesolowski, Oakley, Porter are all central midfielders and I wouldn't mind seeing another one come in.
RowlattsFox Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 I stuck up for Clemence a bit last season, I thought he was made scapegoat and he wasn't the worst perfoermer. But, I wouldn't be disappointed to see him leave. I think one of Oakley or Clemence needs to go, they are similar players in my opinion and I don't see them working well together. One of them alongside Wesolowski would be good and then we have King and hopefully sign a central midfielder who we can rely on to cover.
ronnup Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Cheeri****ingo! agree, never really saw him take hold of anything or sway the direction of the game. Don't hink he's got hte drive, didn't have it last season. Smaller stadiums and less spotlight will hardly be a boost. Get Rid. Get some hunger in the squad please.

ASH17LCFC Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Get rid now, when we signed him thought we were finally going places and we were ...
Joe. Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Personally I'd like to keep Clemence. I know he had a poor season last year but lets face it, who didn't? We know he has the quality, especially for League One and I think he could potentially be a class act in this division. Time will tell I guess.
