lookwhaticando Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 What really matters now is the shirt number. Will he get the number 5 vacated by McAuley, or the number 40-odd to replace the now departed Douglas? Shirt numbers are key. Just look at McAuley last year... he got upgraded from 14 to number 5 and went on to appear more times than any other player. N'Gotty came straight in as number four and appeared plenty often.
Candidcamera Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 This is a departure from the has beens we have so far rumoured to be after.

Father Ted Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 Sounds very very promising, looks as if he has plenty of potential. Will be interesting!!
reynard Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 No one good has EVER come from Cambridge United. Steve claridge??
Super Arj Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 With this guy and the brick shithouse from Hartlepool coming plus Lucketti as a guiding hand, you'll need a tank to get through our backline next year.Though, clean sheets aren't the problem it's the other end we've got problems hhahaa quality mate
isaidno Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 I hope he's not like the last M. Morrison associated with Leicester
reynard Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 Saw him a few times and he looked ok. Have to say having watched a lot of blue square games on setanta there is a big gap between the standard of fitness/speed/skills between that league and even the one we are now in. Good luck to him.

the_bowman Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 Just to quote a Cambridge fan from another forum (duzzercufc if he turns up): Central [defence] capable of playing on the right, very confident and ambitious, he's a bit of both but rarely gets beaten in the air and is very composed on and off the ball.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 From the Cambridge Rivals site; Yet again another Cambridge player sees fit to leave the club, this time in the shape of defender Michael Morrison, who joins the Foxes as of tomorrow for the usual 'undisclosed' fee... From tomorrow morning, Cambridge United youth product Michael Morrison will become a League One player with Leicester City. The youngster joins the Foxes after making 124 appearances for the U's, scoring five times. The defender was brought through the successful youth system at the Abbey and made his debut in the LDV match against Chester in our first Conference season and never looked back. Always assured at the back and very classy, 'Morro' has always been connected to the bigger clubs, with the likes of Southend, Peterborough and Bristol Rovers all making advances for the Haverhill born defender. The deal is said to be undisclosed, including add-ons for appearances and a sell-on fee, but AmberArmy can reveal Morrison had a sale release clause in his contract for £145,000. Whether it's that total we'll never know, but director George Rolls claims the monies from this sale will go straight into strengthening the squad. AmberArmy would like to thank Michael for his efforts as a Cambridge United player, and we wish him all the best at Leicester. Good luck 'Morro'.
Bert Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 I remember the last up and coming player we signed from Cambridge....
Sods Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 I always think we should have four centre backs. N'gotty Worley Morrison Lucketti/Moore/Nelson. Plus Kisnorbo if he is here when he comes back. He would rip this league apart I think Kisnorbo would.
Joe. Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 The question is, why haven't those bigger clubs come in for him before?
potter3 Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 The question is, why haven't those bigger clubs come in for him before? Didn't they reject a few bids for him?
ThePlateCUFC Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 Hello. Cambridge fan here. You've got yourselves a decent young player in Morrison - has been almost ever present since he was 17. He plays very much in the style of John Terry, a very confident player. He's good in the air, got a good head on him, quick, very hardworking and on the very odd occasion he has made a mistake seems to always get back to rectify errors before anything comes of them. He really won't let you down, and I can't say I know anything about your defence at the moment, nor have I even looked who plays for you lot, but I'm sure he is good enough to walk straight into any League 1 starting XI and slot in comfortably, because he is just that type of player. He certainly won't show signs of nerves as thats just not what he is like. You've seen already, he's had trials at Chelsea, Newcastle, Watford and I think Charlton too. Southend have put a few bids in which have always been rejected, I'd be surprised if there weren't other bids too that we just haven't been told of. I appreciate none of these clubs have taken the gamble and signed him - but I think that it also shows testament to a player at our level - and I guess scouts are always going have a look at 17/18 year olds who are ever present at any level anyway but for so many clubs to then take him on trial, it can only show a good thing. If I had to think of the only criticism of him, then the one thing i've ever labeled him with is that he had a tendancy to stand with his hand in the air waiting for an offside flag rather than waiting for the whistle, but then in saying that I haven't seen that for a while from him so he's probably had that coached out of him. Make sure you get the best out of him, get a promotion with him, then sell him on for several million - ensuring as many of the clauses we've got included get activated! I'm sure we'll see you next year for a pre-season friendly!

And btw are you ThePlate off of Tff?
knowitall Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 No one good has EVER come from Cambridge United. Dion Dublin
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 Very pleased by this signing, and all the names we've been linked with so far. No doubt the usual prats will write into the Mercury though, the kind that don't have the faintest idea baout football and slag off everyone. The type that expected Allardyce to be appointed manager.
Dames Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 If he can run then he's certainly an improvement on McAuley.
Floating Fox Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 Brewer fox, did he play at the home leg of the play-offs semi?
