Monk Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 Can you get it with a half decent contract?e.g. more texts than minutes? (i currently get 300mins and 1000 texts) The one I got is £35 and has 600 mins 500 texts. Easily enough for me. I'm well beyond the days where I send 30 + texts a day to justify 1000 a month. Much more like 3 or 4 texts a day
Monk Posted 4 August 2008 Posted 4 August 2008 I find the predictive text sooo irritating! It's ok when it corrects your grammar and adds an apostrophe etc, but when it makes you type the wrong words it's quite fiddly to change it back.Few problems with the phone as well Like randomly quitting apps and sometimes the iPod starts by itself. But apart from that, incredible phone! Never had the problems you speak of. With the text - if you watch as you type you can watch the suggestions & decline them. Some of the applications are awesome. I got a guitar tuner with a metronome. brilliant. Also the Labrynth game is great.
MC Prussian Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 The iPhone 3G does have its flaws and leaves some U.S. owners disappointed: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-10017657...amp;tag=bubbl_1
Monk Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 Show me a phone with no flaws! Interesting reading this article. I have some reception problems too. It's still an awesome bit of kit though. The GPS has so far proved very useful when I was trying to find my hotel in Edinburgh in the pissing rain last week. I love the way it connects to my gmail, the ipod is great, I can place spreadbets on a nice interface, couple of decent games, a guitar tuner. The music on loudspeaker is also very good quality for a phone, at least as good as my laptop. Definately far superior to any other phone on the market.

That's £46ish a month, but saying that I'm beginning to be tempted...are you suffering the same "82 percent of all respondents, reported a variety of reception problems, from inconsistent data connections to 3G networks in their area to multiple dropped calls"?
Alexikokopops Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 Show me a phone with no flaws! If I was spending a billion pounds a month on a phone I'd expect it to get good reception.
Dr The Singh Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 The mrs wants one, where's the best deal\place to get one!!
Monk Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 18 months and £200 down though? That's £46ish a month, but saying that I'm beginning to be tempted...are you suffering the same "82 percent of all respondents, reported a variety of reception problems, from inconsistent data connections to 3G networks in their area to multiple dropped calls"? it was £100 upfront not £200 The main connection problem I have is that the phone would rather hang on to a shite 3G signal (0-1 bar) than switch to a 5 bar non 3G signal. I've had no problems with call quality however, and no calls dropped.
Daggers Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 it was £100 upfront not £200 £159 from the horses mouth
Monk Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 £159 from the horses mouth I have the 8gb version which was £99
Daggers Posted 19 August 2008 Posted 19 August 2008 I have the 8gb version which was £99 I'm having a special day

Finchy Posted 20 August 2008 Author Posted 20 August 2008 People with an iPhone, go on the app store and download the iFooty app for free. It's very good
potter3 Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 People with an iPhone, go on the app store and download the iFooty app for free. It's very good A lot of these things for the iPhone, would they work on the Touch?
Finchy Posted 20 August 2008 Author Posted 20 August 2008 A lot of these things for the iPhone, would they work on the Touch? Yeah as long as you have the 2.0 software upgrade. All the apps will work on a Touch as long as they don't use any of the features that are only on the iPhone, like the Phone for instance
Finchy Posted 20 August 2008 Author Posted 20 August 2008 I can download apps for my iTouch? http://www.apple.com/uk/ipodtouch/appstore/ Yeah you just need to ugrade your iPod software if you haven't already to 2.0. Although iPod owners have to pay £6 for the upgrade, iPhone users get it free. But i think it's worth it, there are loads of free apps to download.
