Nath. Posted 12 July 2008 Posted 12 July 2008 Hendo (Even though Logan did play well) Gilbert - Morrison - Worley - J. Chambers Gradel - Adams - Oakley - Dyer A.Chambers - Fryatt Based on todays performances, that would be my next squad. What about you lot? Both Chambers' today played brilliant, the others should follow example, Both of them two I reckon may play big parts next season, James is a great defender, whilst given the right support, Ashley could be a brilliant striker.

Or possibly: Hendo Gilbert - Morrisson - Worley - ChambersWeso - KingGradel ---- Adams ---- DyerHoward I was going to say 'nah' to the second one, but then I looked again and thought... YES, but with a couple of changes, I would have Oakley or Kish instead of King in that role.

Ozwin Posted 12 July 2008 Posted 12 July 2008 Was Worley good then? I really like the look of him myself, thought he had a proper solid game last day of the season. I really think this team will shine next year.
Guest Gist Posted 12 July 2008 Posted 12 July 2008 Hendo Gilbert Whorley Morrison J.Chambers Gradel Weso King Porter A.Chambers Fryatt That's only based on today though, wouldn't be my choice overall for next season.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 12 July 2008 Posted 12 July 2008 I think Howard's main problem is that he gets too involved in the buildup play and is never the furthest man forward. If we are going to play with wingers who look as good as Gradel, Dyer and Adams do on today's showings then we will need a targetman who is bang up with play and getting on the end of crosses. Personally I would still prefer us to sign someone both quick and tall. Howard is far too lumbering for my liking. But if we are going to get the best out of him then we need to make sure he stays as far forward as possible and stops fannying around (I'm halfway there, I may as well go the whole hog) in the hole (OLE!). Harsh to leave out one of Dyer, Adams or Gradel I think - bit of rotation may be needed there. Based solely on today though (and the fact that we have on our books a Bulgarian international - sorry but he will stroll into our team) I'd go with; Henderson Gilbert Tunchev Morrison ChambersGradel Wesolowski Adams DyerHoward Chambers I thought Adams looked really good today. His passing is very clever. We have two very competent attack-minded full-backs, a wealth of riches in midfield and some particularly exciting wingers. The only worry for me is that Pearson will need to get the strikers spot on. It might help if someone comes in for DJ and Howard. I have a feeling this could be Ashley Chambers' breakout year if he is given the chance. He looked excellent today.

Thracian Posted 13 July 2008 Posted 13 July 2008 Interesting nobody picks Porter who came on when we were 3-2 down and left having had a hand in the two goals that gave us victory and who's appearance coincided with us totally controlling the last 15 minutes of the game. Ashley Chambers too made a huge difference. What pleased me most was that Pearson seems to have signed proper players instead of the long list of wallies we brought in for the start of last season. It makes for some proper competition. As for James Chambers, on yesterday's form, I'd have him in any team of mine.
jaybee Posted 13 July 2008 Posted 13 July 2008 For the most part I think everybody can see that we will have a half decent defence sitting in front of Hendo, as well as a competitive midfield. It's the misfiring front line that is still a worry. Young Chambers apart, the old guard of Howard, Dudley and Fryatt are not going to set even league one alight. You can see that Pearsons new boys will inject a bit more pace and hopefully in proper match conditions a bit more quality and a few more goals. I don't think it would hurt Milans pocket too much if Pearson could move on 1 or 2 of the old guard and spend some cash on a decent partner for young Chambers.

Porter made a difference and would think by August 9th he will have a good chance of starting on the left side of midfield , lets face it he aint gonna get picked in the centre

bigneville Posted 13 July 2008 Posted 13 July 2008 Henderson Gilbert Morrison Worley J.Chambers Gradel Adams Wesolowski Dyer A.Chambers Howard It's interesting to see a lot of people put J.Chambers at left back. May he be the answer to the left back problem it Mattock leaves?

Ashley Chambers too made a huge difference. I don't think anyone would disagree with you particularly, but that no-one's picked him is really more a testament to the strength of this new-look midfield than anything. I'd be happy to play him. In fact if we did attempt to play something quite fluid with three attacking midfielders, which would really confuse defences at this level, Porter's ability to play left-mid and centre would be a massive asset.

Vo Rogue Posted 13 July 2008 Posted 13 July 2008 Hendo Gilbert - Morrison - Worley - ChambersGradel - Adams - Wesolowski - DyerChambers. - Fryatt . What we should go with. A youthful team with the desire to win matched by their ability. Anyone considering the likes of Howard or Oakley must seriously not understand that their chance was last season where they should have taken that League by the scruff of the neck. Play people that want to play for us and want to do well. At least learn from last seasons disaster.
dog_4 Posted 13 July 2008 Posted 13 July 2008 I'm hoping by the start of the season our team should look like this: ? gilbert tunchev Morrison mattock Gradel oakley ? Dyer Campbell ? ? signal the areas we still need to look at strenghening, I'd love to see the highly rated Greek Goalkeeper people have been talking about, Graham kavanaugh in the middle and Nicky Maynard from crewe come in. But managers don't tend to have good taste like me when it comes to signings.

Halfsy Posted 13 July 2008 Posted 13 July 2008 No DJ? Haha! I can just see him banging in goals in pre-season now! That's if he is still at the club! Most of our teams are pretty similar so far, although Ashley Chambers and Levi Porter played well, i think its important to remember their pace was dangerous against a tired non-league side. I think they may struggle in League One.
