Where Is....Andy King

Recommended Posts

Firstly I have to say I was pretty pleased with yesterdays performance and although we did score two cracking goals the finishing I think could still improve more Importantly, where is Andy King?

In the younger team for tonight i would guess.

Played excellent at Quorn, but this was a stark contrast from his game at Hinckley.

Good player, and as soon as he gets some consistancy i'm sure he will become a regular.

i agree at quorn he looked impressive and im sure we will see him in the centre this season

Yeh I hope we do, I thought he did ok couple of games he played last season and he certainly did well for the reserves, he scores some crackers aswell as decent finisher and good passer of the ball.

Low in the pecking order, pretty simple really, he can't play everyone.

Exactamundo ..

Dont think you'll see much of Andy this year ..

Loan experience is what I feel he needs.. ;)

let's send him to bournemouth for a year, who knows he might come back as good as Gradel, in fact lets send all the youth team

He's in the squad for Ilkeston tonight which at the moment is about his level. He may turn out alright but he has looked a bit limited (with the exception of that great goal) when he's stepped upto first team level.

I agree with others a loan deal for 6 months would benefit him. Div2 or blue square.

If Oakley's the level of our first team I'm damned sure King is.

Apart from the experience aspect there's far more to King's game.

King can play as defender or attacker and can win the ball in the air.

He can shoot, he can pass the ball accurately forwards and he can get into the box.

Unfortunately he only ever gets cameo first team appearances and it's as if he's scared to make a mistake now.

He never tries any of the things that make him a good player in the first team, even when he gets time and space, he just does the safe and simple thing.

Even then he doesn't give the ball away as often as Oakley but, let's be honest, his star is looking less and less likely to shine and he'll doubtless go the way of Dodds and Sheehan if he doesn't start grasping any chances that come his way.

Which reminds me. We still have no-one who can take a decent free kick or who looks as if they've ever done any free-kick practice.

Gradel's little effort at the end last night was nothing short of embarrassing.

You would think coaches at a club like Leicester could come up with something better than that.

Don't think I can be bothered with a haul up the M1 in nose to tail traffic.

think we should send him out on loan...not going to get many games here at the moment.

I agree! He is a very decent player without being anything special but a season playing first team football at a league 2 club would do him and us the world of good.

At this particular time, the last thing we need is for King to go out on loan but I won't bore you with details.

I think King will be in the first team squad if not necessarily a starter. He should get his chance sometime this season.

He's about the only one that can score from outside the box. Good long-shot ability. We need ones like that. Even if they don't score from range, there's always a parry or a rebound that can fall anywhere in the area, ready to be swept in.

Last season, you could count goals scored from outside the area on one hand I reckon *lol statto*.

I really rate King.

He's great in attack and defence.

He scores goals when getting forward, not just scoring in the area but outside aswell.

And also creates a lot.

He will definitely be in and around the first team.

I'd rather have him in the team than Oakley, problem is, i'm not sure who i'd play him alongside.

I agree, especially with the problems we're having defending set pieces and our lack of shots/creativity from central midfield.

From what I've seen pre-season King and Porter have orchestrated most goals. Those two have played together lots in the reserves and seem to compliment one another. Both are well capable of scoring.

They also know exactly the kind of service Gradel/Fryatt needs and are capable of providing it.

Trouble is if Porter moves inside would Dyer be good enough wide left? His record suggests he's an almost constant threat but he's not overimpressed me so far and I'm left wondering if Adams could play in a midfield of Gradel, King, Adams, Porter.

Obviously Wesolowski's the safe option and he's looked fit and committed throughout pre-season but I just don't see Weso/Oakley supporting either attacking or defensive situations as well as King/Porter nor certainly being involved with as many goals. To me Gradel, King, Porter, Adams/Dyer looks potentially the strongest attacking midfield we've had for years.

Put those four with Campbell and Fryatt up front and the opposition will find they've got some serious defending to do.

Trouble is I cannot see Pearson contemplating anything but Oakley as a surefire starter and captain.

I thnk that a loan to a L2 or BS team wouldn't be of any use to King at all. If it did happen, I feel that we'd be in a Dodds-esque situation where there is distinct possiblility of losing a player who was never given a real chance here once he finds his feet at another club. I don't know how long King's contract runs for though.

If he was linked with a loan to Yeovil last year then I'm sure he could cut it in this division, and so far his pre-season has been above average.
