maddog Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 With the season just a week and a bit away, i feel i am 100% looking forward to it, a hell of a lot more than any other season in the not so good years we have had recently. I think Nigel Pearson has done an unbelieveable job so far and has really won the fans over including me. I was sceptical (have i spelt that right ) about his appointment when he arrived, but his attitude, and geneal ora when he speaks has really impressed me, listening to interviews and reading what he has been saying in the Merc. He seems a lot more serious than Ollie and less media orientated, i like that as the joker would say(From the film not Pearson ).I think the signings he has made have been fantastic. Dyer, Adams, Morrison, Tunchev, for me are shrewd signings and quality for the current League 1 level. And with the addition of Gilbert and Hobbs on loan, i rekon we could have as solid defence as last season in the League, despite leaking goals in pre-season so far, i think we can defend just as well, without Stearman and Mcauley, and Kisnorbo for a bit. Il admit i aint been to a pre-season friendly, but i've got my season ticket as i've had for the past 11 seasons or so, and am ready to go enjoy watching L.C.F.C. I have been listening to the radio though, and with the addition of Ian Stringer, who seems to sound like he is enjoying commentating on L.C.F.C and knows some stuff about our players, that could turn out to be a lot more bearable than Barber. With the large amount of goals we have been scoring, our problem last season, i think we could stand a real chance of a top 6 finish, which i would be happy with. And Fryatt seems to have got his act together, a player i have heavily criticised, but, dare i say, i am actually looking forward to seeing him in action again. Pearson has got the players 100% fit and i am thrilled. Also with Gradel, Wesolowski, Henderson, Campbell, Howard, Clemence (or maybe not Clemence), Porter etc we could be a real force this season. I do annoy a lot of people on here with my views, which i do enjoy sometimes , but i'm just a Leicester fan through and through, don't go causing trouble at matches, just watch and enjoy. Man i can't wait till August 9th. I'm just so looking forward to the new season and if we can play like i heard and read we did against Birmingham, V MK Dons then they won't stand a chance. This season i'm going to be 100% positive about everything and fook it if we lose, i'm just going to make sure i enjoy it. It's going to be another rollercoaster ride and i am now ready for it. For me the first and last home games of the seasons are normally the best whatever the result, MK Dons better be worried. C'mon Leicester
Austin Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Preach!!! haha .. To be fair, you've pretty much just answered everypost on this forum in the last week Hope I enjoy it as much as your hoping you can .. CMON CITEH!
The Stig Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 This season i'm going to be 100% positive about everything and fook it if we lose, i'm just going to make sure i enjoy it. If we're in mid table by January with no hope of promotion, on our second manager of the season with Leeds ten points clear, which lets face is more than possible, will you still be saying that?
Asha Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 If we're in mid table by January with no hope of promotion, on our second manager of the season with Leeds ten points clear, which lets face is more than possible, will you still be saying that? Mid table in January? There would be every chance of promotion.
renards Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 A big difference also is that we have decent backroom staff also. People who have acheived something as players and decents cv's since playing. Hollowhead surrounded himself with yes men who had no particular pedigree, can you name them? (Gerry and Mike the plank aside) In fact when was the last time we has decent support for a manager. Taylor had that muppet who had only ever played in div 3 telling internationals how to play football
Bellend Sebastian Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 I'm looking forward to it because it will get me out the house
Nationwider Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 I'm looking forward to it because it will get me out the house Have you considered Bingo?
billyfox1 Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 Did any of our many managers last year win their 1st game in charge or will we have all that bollox in the mockerey again about how is not been done since 1842 B.C

Bellend Sebastian Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 Have you considered Bingo? Considered and rejected it. There's always bowls
billyfox1 Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 Holloway against Bristol City. oh good, so they'll only keep going on about the back 2 back wins thing then
Monk Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 I'm very cautiously optimistic. This board is like an unstoppable steam train when it comes to pre season optimism and predictions. Seriously, when was the last time our collective predictions were correct!? I think we have a lot of promise but I'm not jumping to any conclusions. We will not walk this league, there will be some tough fixtures, and I think we will see exciting, but at times scrappy football with a whole lot of goals at both ends. As posted in the Weaknesses thread, I think we have few, but potentially there are several risks that could really screw us over. For example, what happens if our strikers still cannot put the ball in the net?

C'mon Leicester Use paragraphs Maddog, please it's so boring to read when it's in a big block like that. I'm trying not to be so optimistic after last seasons expectations.

For example, what happens if our strikers still cannot put the ball in the net? to be fair though, there is a separation between a sense of enthusiasm and what one predicts - i'm really excited about the season, but only midly optimistic... i pretty much agree with your assesment here, but i still feel that buzz that you get before any season, knowing that it could be a great year, any year - it's when that excitement starts to fail as we teeter above the bottom three that i fear.... here's hoping that this year the pre-season anticipation is converted in to season long delight...

Last season everyone (apart from the pesemists) predicted we would be pushing for the play offs and we got relegated, atleast if everyone predicts promotion we should have a chance of survival
Phlashman Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 I really can't wait either, the only thing I'm not looking forward to is that first defeat in League one. But other than that I'm looking forward to our best chance at a good season for a few years and hopefully finally see some sort of team spirit evolve, the players, management and fans all happy and going in the right direction together.

But for once I think we have a reasonable shout at being optimistic about the forthcoming season, we don't have a paper thin squad, unlike some of the smaller/less well supported and so less wealthy clubs in this Div and I have to agree the manager finally walks the walk and talks the talk like a real quality bloke (not like the joker Hollowhead). As long as we're top ten by Christmas (when the injuries and harsh weather tends to deplete the smaller teams) I reckon we'll be fine .... so C'mon City ....

Just to watch some football again will be good (although not the same type that we played last season). It's going to be so important to hit the ground running and show the division why we are one of the favourites for promotion. I agree, our squad is strong (for this league anyway). Let's hope Pearson can inject the same buzz into the players that the fans on here are getting.
Raj Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 WOW!!! I wish i shared maddogs enthusiasm and optimism. I am neither enthusiastic or Optimistic. In fact the season is starting far too early for me. Even the thought of promotion BACK to the Championship doesn't fill me with too much cause for an all out celebration!!! Boy am i a miserable cvnt at the moment!!!

No mate ... your only miserable 'cos the season is not unway yet, you wait and see ...
