A gent from the British Transport Police was on and said this will be great for 'tackling football hooligans on trains'

Might work, but I'd rather see the money be concentrated on providing a more efficient, more regular and more punctual service.

Cameras cameras cameras - britains answer to everything.

The most watched country in the world I believe.

It's not football that's the problem. It's the disrespectful yobs who use them that are, and there doesn't have to be a football match on to have them on the trains.

Rather than spending money on installing expensive devices that will no doubt get vandalised by those they seek to capture on film, why not lower ticket prices so that there are more people on the train? In my experience of yobs on public transport, they only tend to kick off when it's empty.

No doubt someone is now going to prove me wrong....

Sheffield to Barnsley 07/08 :D

Cameras will not deter violence, or yobishness ( )

It will simply make it easier for them to be caught.

I personally have a bit of a phobia of public transport, and try to avoid it at all costs. I haven't caught a bus in over a year, and would prefer to drive/get a taxi. This is due to the amount of braindead individuals who chose to spend their time drinking cheaper cider, picking fights with whoever they like.

Cameras or no cameras, it won't stop. And Tabou still won't get the bus/train/horse drawn carriage.

No trouble on the train just songs on a platform ;)

There was a bunch of racist mother****ers on another train heading into Barnsleh...with SUAS & LD3 I seem to remember (probably incorrectly!)

If they were on your train then you'd be best place to correct me - I was on a train with some blokes trying to crash a hen party!

there's an echo in here! ;)

well the cctv didn't stop that poor woman from being pushed onto the tracks in kent (just missing the live rail) the chance of seeing more british transport police around the place may've made them think again

All this moaning, but I'm sure people would be the first to ask ''did you get it on CCTV'' when they have been smacked round the head by a drunken hooligan on a train. Although it's not nice to be watched 24/7, cameras do have their place in catching criminals.

I think it's until you are on the receiving end of it you don't realise. this is coming from someone who has been caught on CCTV

Aha - now I understand...

Cameras? What a genius idea. Money well spent again!!!!!! Awesome.

Football hooligans mentioned obviously,

So any fan with a beer on the train to be cautioned? I think so.

Waste of time and money.

Why don't the Police do their job and stop the hooligans travelling.
