Father Ted Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 My email: Dear Mr.Jones,I am writing to you to show my dissapointment at the goal music that was played yesterday. The Chelsea dagger to many fans symbolises the season that we got relegated and if you were to visit www.foxestalk.co.uk, you will see just some of the comments on the situation. I am a season-ticket holder and sat in SK1 yesterday, the atmosphere was a massive improvement on last year but the goal music just killed it off. Fans were looking at each other in disbelief and shock at the thought of looking like a mug again dancing to a song that was played during a season that we had 3 managers, scored very little goals and the performances were a disgrace. Even worse was that there was a 5 second break where everybody was cheering and celebrating their own way but was then spoilt when the tune was put on! It has to be scrapped, it is disgusting that the club even dared to play the tune, it is already played at too many clubs and just spoils everything. I wouldn't mind us having goal music but please please please not the Chelsea Dagger! And instead something that gets the crowd cheering and jumping up and down and adding to the atmosphere instead of doing some silly dance. Maybe something along the lines of 'House of Pain - Jump around' would be a good option but then again, we might not be allowed because it may cause 'structural damage'. Thank you very much, Bob
J.Lisemore Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 If you ask me ...i dont see the point in goal music altogether.
Guest Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 If you ask me ...i dont see the point in goal music altogether. Have you voted?
Ozwin Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Doesn't that music get played at hundred of other grounds around the country when a team scores too? It feels so unoriginal.
TrickyTrev Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 I noticed a few people in L1 yesterday completely stop celebrating when it came on.Tommeh, Kilworth and myself all looked at each and just stopped when it came on. It's painful. I literally cannot celebrate to it, it's now become impossible. Call me miserable or whatever, but I feel such a clown dancing to it like a mug. I did exactly the same. It completely ruins the moment.
Guest Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 it might be an idea to put the same poll on TalkingBalls so the club can't just say that the opinion of 1 forum It would, however some of the posters on here also post on TB () and the results could be skewed with multiple voting. But I will think about it.
Lovejoy Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 I'm consider asking PJ if there's any chance we could trial for just one match without goal music and see what the general reaction is after that.
lildave3 Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 The bloody stadium was bouncing yesterday again after the goals.
davieG Posted 10 August 2008 Author Posted 10 August 2008 I'm consider asking PJ if there's any chance we could trial for just one match without goal music and see what the general reaction is after that. Not very useful if we don't score and it may take a few games before people realise they can actually celebrate in their own style without having to wait for some faceless arse to let them know. I don't believe the music will ever disappear because it's a control tool and enables them to control the length of the celebration and to 'force' people to sit with out having to be told to by stewards.
Asha Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Simple poll to gauge opinion. If it gets a good enough response (i.e. enough people respond) I will bring it up at the next opportunity. Yes, and yes. Oh and btw I'm contacting the club aswell. Call me a twat or whatever, but it's my opinion
LoughboroughFox Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Dont really care, as long as we keep scoring il keep singing!
davieG Posted 10 August 2008 Author Posted 10 August 2008 Dont really care, as long as we keep scoring il keep singing! That's the problem though you can't keep singing because you've either got the chelsea shit playing or you're having to sit down and shut up once it stops.
Guest Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Yes, and yes.Oh and btw I'm contacting the club aswell. Call me a twat or whatever, but it's my opinion It's not about calling anyone names, I just want to see what the real split of opinion is. If yours differs from mine, so be it, unless you want them to play "Come on Eileen", in which case, you are a bigger twat than Raj!
LoughboroughFox Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Dont really care, as long as we keep scoring il keep singing! you suggest another goal song and il sing it aswell!
The Reverend Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 The thing that baffles me is that peopl are saying they dont want to have to do the silly dance - well you dont have to! You can celebrate in your own way. I dont like the music, but you dont have to celebrate when it starts and not celebrate when it doesnt (waiting until it does), its ridiculous.

I wasn't saying that you would...it was just half my post was replying to yours. I've been absolutely berated before for liking Chelsea Dagger as a goal tune. Come on Eileen? Meh. YMCA would be quality though, as I've said before.

DB11 Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 I'm consider asking PJ if there's any chance we could trial for just one match without goal music and see what the general reaction is after that. That´ll be a game that we don´t score at then

You can celebrate in your own way. I dont like the music, but you dont have to celebrate when it starts and not celebrate when it doesnt (waiting until it does), its ridiculous. Of course you don't have to but the thing is so over powering and blots out all natural instinct and individual thought. As for carrying on afterwards it seems pretty clear to me that anyone still standing after the music stops is at risk of being chucked out as witnessed yesterday when there was a string of expulsions from different parts of the ground following the second goal.

Agree totally! sit down jump around, people are different but lets all get behind the lads in which ether way your comfy with!
blueharmie Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 people were getting thrown out for standing up? what part of the ground was this in? did L1 or k block stand up through the game?
Guest Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 people were getting thrown out for standing up? what part of the ground was this in? did L1 or k block stand up through the game? I sat down like a good girl, just like what the sticker told me to do.
davieG Posted 10 August 2008 Author Posted 10 August 2008 people were getting thrown out for standing up? what part of the ground was this in? did L1 or k block stand up through the game? There were people being escorted out of the ground, after the music had stopped for the 2nd goal from East Stand / Kop corner area. I may be wrong but it's somewhat coincidently otherwise.

Well I cannot do that anymore, you can say what you think people can do all you like but it's simply not true. I feel so awkward when it comes on now that I have no choice but to look at the pitch really.
