lcfc_jme Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 I actually think this could be the season to try out the no music scenario.IF we keep winning games regularly, the fans will start to remember how we 'used' to celebrate without music. You talk sense in the small hours of morning, Raj. I don't think it's so much our fans forgetting how to celebrate without goal music, more becoming used to celebrating with it. I'm pretty sure many people would still jump around hugging each other, shouting / screaming very loudly and join in with any chants started after the initial roar had quietened. It's just a case of giving it a go, which the club has implied it may well do, and persisting with it, not scrapping any trial after only a week or two. What would actually physically upset me would be to see our fans, with no goal music at all, start singing Chelsea Dagger and dance around to it as they would if it were on after a goal was scored. That would be devastating.

davieG Posted 12 August 2008 Author Posted 12 August 2008 Some started doing that after the second goal on Saturday when the music stopped abruptly. In some ways good for them at least they were ignoring the music to some extent although something of their own creation would have been better. It also begs the question did it stop abruptly on purpose?

I think it did. Normally they let it fade out a bit, but it stopped instantly on Saturday.

I doubt it. Remember last season a couple of times when they played Chelsea Dagger before a game it used to go really messed and stop and then go really fast, I think it's a shit CD that League One budgets can't afford to replace.
Ultra Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 Looks like we're stuck with CD for the next five years at least. And guess which area of the ground dances to it the most? (Clue - it isn't the Kop..) There's no getting away from it. Even when watching an Olympics hockey playoff this morning, whenever a goal was scored, that "tune" was played (and worse still, it sounded like a Chinese cover version.. )

lavrentis Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 Looked like the Tranmere fans to me...... Yeah that was embarrasing for me.
lifted*fox Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 Had to hear it three bloody times today! I would have been ALMOST happy with 2-1 if it meant they didn't play it a third time. It's just awkward imo. Just kill the music altogether ffs. It's such a shit song. And the Tranmere fans were loving it . Fair play to them dancing about when we scored.
TrickyTrev Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 Being mocked by the Tramnere fans has to be the nail in the coffin! Oh Please let it be the end.
Daggers Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 Looked like the Tranmere fans to me...... Come for the disco You've only come for the disco Come for the dii-sco You've only come for the disco
Lillehamring Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 I think someone needs to show people at the club my video of the celebrations at Palace. They went on for over a minute without any bloody music. as beautiful as that video is, it emphasises one of the reasons why we have the music - they don't want people dancing around for 50+ seconds, sad as that is... this video would scare them shitless... ...and what's with all this 'maybe we can see what it is like without music for a few games' - eh, how about every game during the last century - they talk about having no music as if it's never happened before, that's how comfortable they are with it... i think the best we can hope for is to get a better song, i think music is here to stay, shame they can't get a song that is featured in a chant - anyone know if there is a punk version of 'when you're smiling'?
Matt Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 At least our club make sure its a goal or not before playing the music, Was watching the highlights of the Plymouth game (Think it was Plymouth) and they had a goal disallowed but the second it hit then net (Literally) the music started, everyone in celebrated, but the referee ruled it offside and they decided to play the music out anyway. How embarrassing.
Uncle Monty Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 fooking hate the goal music. fooking Chelsea dagger? wtf has that got to do with citeh?? i think someone commented about our fans act like a bunch of trained chimps when the music goes off and i completly agree. I felt like a twat at the dons game when i didnt dance with everyone else, sorry but untill they get rid of the music i aint dancing - i am no chimp. If music is here to stay why not play a song with Leics connections. Club foot would perhaps get me out of my seat.
The Stig Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 E Mail to Peter Jones I was bored the other night so thought why not send an E Mail to Peter Jones. Anyway what I sent him and the response. Nice of him to E Mail back so promptly. Dear PeterFor a year now Chelsea Dagger has been playing over the PA system when Leicester City score. My personal opinion is that the club has lost part of its individuality and the music lowers atmosphere levels due to the fact that we can't create our own noise and the noise is instantly killed when the music stops. I am not alone in my opinion. http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=52647 http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.ph...p;hl=goal+music Foxestalk is a LCFC Forum with over six thousand members. These links are to a topic and an opinion poll regarding the music. Many fans would be grateful if you could look through the fans opinions on this matter. There are MANY other topics regarding this matter on the site, most of which are negative towards Chelsea Dagger. Kind Regards Chris Hewgill. Chris Thank you for your e mail. In the past few weeks I have received a number of e mails on the same subject. I am aware of the messageboards and keep myself up to date with the topics. There is no doubt there are supporters who seek a change from the Chelsea Dagger ( a change of music or no music at all). In considering a possible change the club has taken into consideration all of the views and at the same time watched the fans reaction when we have scored a goal. It appears that the fans are positive in their cerlebrations and it leaves the club wondering whether a change is needed. There will be a Fans Consultative Committee meeting in September and I intend raising the topic at that meeting. Minutes are published on the website and I would hope we can make progress at that meeting. It is an interesting topic and I wish to thank you for bringing it to my attention. I hope that you enjoyed the 3-1 win yesterday. Best wishes Peter Jones

I won't be surprised if we hear the fans "sing" it anyway, whenever we next score an away goal..
Stevosevic Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 Time to bombard Peter Jones with e-mails? I think so
leicesterseddon Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 he's right tho...i'm sorry to say it, but until people stop dancing to it, it will continue to be played. and i'm going to stick my neck out here - the worst offending area is the kop. if people would stop dancing to it, it won't get played. i don't think i could take the ribbing if we score against millwall. to see some tranmere fans taking the piss was humiliating
Uncle Monty Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 Time to bombard Peter Jones with e-mails? I think so I agree, there must be a formal petetion we can send him
Maybes Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 I remember watching MOTD when I was a young boy and I saw/heard teams like Bolton etc playing music after goals. I didnt like the idea of it then and I still dont now. Get rid of the shitting music.

Guest Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 I agree, there must be a formal petetion we can send him I have posted the poll, but with just over 200 responses, and an average attendance of over 20,000, it isn't a representative sample. It's not even a representative sample of the membership of this forum! Given the apathy the majority of our fans show, I wouldn't expect a petition to be any more successful. I will be putting forward my views at the Consultative Committee meeting.

Not going to happen! Lisa tell Peter this at the committee meeting, also bring to his attention that Leicester Fans celebrated goals before we heard of music at football
Simi Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 I've seen the majority of people that go to these meetings and nothing will ever change if they have a say in it.
