ousefox Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 this is what i got.................. Alex Thank you for your feedback. Kind regards Peter Peter Jones Customer/Supporter Relations Manager Leicester City Football Club Tel: 0116 2294527 Fax: 0116 2294549 E-Mail: [email protected]
Vestan Pance Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 I think the club are mistaking our enthusiastic goal celebrations with approval of 'Chelsea Dagger'. To be honest I think if someone recorded a song called 'All Leicester City Fans are little sh*ts' and it got played as goal celebration music I would still dance around like a lunatic but not necessarily aided said tune. Personally I like to wait for Chelsea Dagger to die down before starting my goal celebration, it mainly involves trying to knock the wig off the bloke in front of me.
Simi Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 The replies given so far are no real surprise, I've had them many times before. It's about all PJ can say. But what I don't get is "we can't please everyone.". Yes it's true, but surely the supporters of Chelsea Dagger wouldn't be bothered that much if it was taken away, they'll still be able to celebrate a goal. Just not dance to a song. It seems now that it is really effecting the way people celebrate goals, I don't see personally why that area of support should feel uncomfortable. There were never calls from our supporters to introduce Chelsea Dagger, we were fine without it before, so why after the manager that introduced it has gone does it continue? Crowd control, thought so.
Darkzzz_ Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 I had some fat chick jigging away next to me, I must have swallowed her armpits a dozen times. I was hoping the score would stay 1-0, but Matty ruined it for me and I was tormented yet again. But hey, if it burns a few calories I'm all for it.

As you say, no supporter was ever asked, or ever said they wanted Chelsea Dagger. Apparently Martin Allen wanted it, so why wasn't it taken away last August when he left?
lee7 Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 This is the reply i got: I am aware of the forum and the thoughts of fans. Bearing in mind we have played one match and the music has become topical over the weekend I will promise that all ideas will be considered. The policy of trying matches without music is an option and will be discussed – I promise. Best wishes Peter
Father Ted Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 The reply I got: Thank you for your e mail.I have noted your thoughts and passed on your comments on ‘House of Pain’ to my colleagues involved in match day entertainment. Great to start with a win on Saturday and fingers crossed lots more goals to come. Best wishes and thank you for your support. Peter

Apparently Martin Allen wanted it, so why wasn't it taken away last August when he left? There is no apparetly about it. It is 100% fact Allen wanted it. This was confirmed to me by Peter himself. I think regardless of what happens, PJ needs to be thanked for his efforts in individually replying to each e-mail he has been sent, I do trust HIM, in that he will pass on the thoughts. It's higher up that needs a kicking.
Milky Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Thinking about it, i did actually just sit down a couple of seconds after the goal. What can you do? Clap along like a robotic gimp?
Tommeh Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 The reply I got: House of pain yeah? Shit in a club and the though of it coming on at the walkers after a goal makes me not want to score
Joe. Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Father Ted I think you've completely missed the point of trying to banish Chelsea Dagger forever...
hebangsthedrums Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Just so he doesn't think its an 'over the weekend' topic I'll delay my email for a week or so. He responded very well last time I was in touch - even following up with a phone call so I personally appreciate his efforts.
Asha Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 The poll shows the majority on here don't like goal music. That's fair enough. But that doesn't show the majority of all Leicester fans. Surely a possibility would be that at the Tranmere game they give every fan a double sided piece of paper saying 'Yes' and 'No' and asking the whole crowd to vote on goal music at half time, like when we voted on the City/Fosse thing. Wider range of opinions. Everyone gets a say, whatever the outcome we stick with it.

Magictv Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 If there's gonna be a vote like that then a few matches should be had before where there is no goal music.
Asha Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 I actually like the sound of that Have put that idea to PJ.

Besides it's a flawed option because people naturally vote for the status quo - they don't like change. I'm confident that you will get a majority for it but I'm also confident that if the question had been asked before it was introduced then you would have got a majority against.
Anish Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Get rid of all goal music. The arguments have been well versed by those before me so I don't need to repeat them. Away goals are definitely much better - fans should be allowed to celebrate however and for how long they like after a goal, and not have an embarrassing tune imposed on them for 15 seconds to jig to. I will be emailing Peter too and have voted.

Alternatively they could blast out Chelsea Dagger at random when no goal is scored during the game, anybody who thinks we have scored and jumps up should be escorted from the ground, this would sort out at least three quarters of the people that like it.

Suffolk_fox Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 I told Peter Jones that I wasn't expecting a reply, but he sent me one anyway. Nice chap.
Raj Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Got a reply from PJ today. Dear Raj. If you ever email me again i will kill you. Regards Peter Jones Supporters Liason Officer.
lcfc_jme Posted 12 August 2008 Posted 12 August 2008 Got a reply from PJ today.Dear Raj. If you ever email me again i will kill you. Regards Peter Jones Supporters Liason Officer. ! At least it's a positive thing that they're going to consider cutting the music out after goals in the future at some stage. My only fears are that if they do, our performing seals fans will just stand around not knowing what to do without their beloved Chelsea Dagger, or that if it proves a success and the atmosphere created is great as expected, the club will miraculously receive a lot of "complaints" asking for the Chelsea Dagger to be brought back. We shall have to wait and see, I guess.

IF we keep winning games regularly, the fans will start to remember how we 'used' to celebrate without music.
