Floating Fox Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Well that's bollocks because C2 was rocking all game. The atmosphere was electrifying at times.
Fosse Boy Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 E-mailed Peter Jones last week, imploring him to stop goal music, or at least to make it relevant to the club and less generic, also to bring back the old PHG as the teams run out. No reply as of yet. Couldn't believe how loud they were playing stuff of the tannoy ten minutes before kick off too. Surely the club must realise that the best way for fans to create an atmosphere is for fans to create an atmosphere, not to be told what sort of music should make them feel adrenalised before the game?
Sods Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Absoultely dislike the music after a goal, would rather hear the fans showing their joy. Fair enough its all about the entertainment, but seriously theirs a time and a place to start dancing to Chelsea dagger next to 10 year old kids. Makes me stop all my exicitement and stop celebrating. Goals away from home are awesome.
Maybes Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Yesterday was embarrassing especially as Allen decided to go ahead with Chelsea dagger as the MK Dons fans loved it
blueharmie Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 After the second it stopped halfway through. well theres a start!! who pushes the button to play this music? im thinking of a kidnapp ive also emailed PJ about this.
Sods Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Is anyone in favour of the music and Chelsea dagger? Like to hear views to be honest, I wont shoot you down.
leicesterseddon Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 we all know that most proper football fans don't agree with goal music. eventually i think this nationwide fad will soon disappear, but i'm worried about chelsea dagger becoming expected at matches....that god-awful song they play at st.andrews before kick-off (you know the one - when they all clap in time with it) has practically become tradition. however, there are many difficulties in getting the thing scrapped, namely: 1. the club mistake people's celebrations after a goal for chelsea dagger-style dancing 2. it is a very effective method of crowd control. i'm sorry, but it just is 3. i genuinely think there are enough mugs in the ground most matches who like it this last reason means that a 'city or fosse' - style vote with cards in the crowd is a dangerous move...after all, if it did go tits-up for some reason, it would give the club a mandate to keep the bloody thing for ever. let's face it, this music didn't start emanating from the PA system because there was a huge fan-backed move for it. people weren't e-mailing the club pleading for chelsea dagger to be played after goals. it just appeared out of nowhere - probably because martin allen insisted on it. and that's the only way it'll ever get scrapped. but if it doesn't get scrapped soon, i fear we might just get stuck with it. i also feel that an amnesty on the music for a home match or two wouldn't work, because you'd still have to have a vote at the end of it. if someone at the top can be convinced to move against it, then it might go. it's pointless e-mailing peter jones because it's quite obvious he likes it. the hard bit is finding a way for the fans to convince a big-wig at the club to stop it....
Ultra Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 The poll is showing nearly 80% against at the moment. Hope the club take note.
Corky Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Is anyone in favour of the music and Chelsea dagger?Like to hear views to be honest, I wont shoot you down. No, I am not in favour of goal music. We never had it at Filbert Street so I don't see why we should have it now. Chelsea Dagger is a song I disliked before we started playing it, so I don't want it at all. If the club insist we have to have goal music, I would like the chance to give my choice, not have some god-awful tune foisted upon us.
davieG Posted 11 August 2008 Author Posted 11 August 2008 Noticeable how singing followed the celebrations where as following the shutting down of the Chelsea shit everyone sits down and shuts up - how people can be in favour of goal music is completely incomprehensible to me, celebrating a goal in your own inimitable* style is the quintessence** of attending football * incapable of being imitated or copied; surpassing imitation; matchless. ** 1.the pure and concentrated essence of a substance. 2.the most perfect embodiment of something.
Kilworthfox Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 I have on many occasions. Have you?I urge anyone who hasn't already to write into Peter Jones and tell him your views, more the better. [email protected] Hi Peter, Season ticket holder here from L1. Music after a goal is scored is awful! Please do your utmost to rid our wonderful club from the sheep following that our club and Health & Safety seem to be obsessed with. Just because Bolton & Middlesborough do it does not mean it is a wonderful idea. If everyone thought that they would go an watch them. However I notice it has been a while since they sold out if ever. Also on a side not L1 seems much better & louder this year as more people appear to have moved over for a bit of atmosphere. Regards Tom Hancock.
GLC Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 wouldnt a local band be better, someone like kasabian cant stand chelsea dagger edit: it was funny when it came on and i had a high pitched women behind me singing along to it
Jordan Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Now that everybody is accustomed to Chelsea Dagger, if the club do decide to get rid of that, it'd be funny to see what happens to some fans during the first music-free celebration.
Kilworthfox Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 wouldnt no music at all be better?cant stand chelsea dagger edit: it was funny when it came on and i had a high pitched women behind me singing along to it Yes, yes it would most definately
20mj08 Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DY4pNG9ckNw&...feature=related thats some celebration and comentry
purpleronnie Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Don't you think IF we have music after goals to have something that gets the fans involved more than singing to a crap song. Like holding scarves aloft or twiling them around, that would at least look cool.
GLC Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Yes, yes it would most definately ur putting words in my mouth
Hackneyisblue Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 E-mailed Peter Jones earlier, here is his reply: Thank you for e mail and your thoughts on the goal music. I am aware of Bentleys Roof and Foxes Talk forums and the various topics that appear. I also receive lots of e mails direct like yours expressing different opinions. It is a classic case of not being able to please everyone but I have noted your thoughts on switching off the music for 6 weeks and I have passed that idea to the staff involved in match day entertainment. Thank you for taking the time to contact me. Best wishes Peter
