Matt Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Bastard Setanta Sports? I'm not overly bothered about the Community Shield (Man Utd v Portsmouth) but it'd have been nice to watch but no I need to subscribe to fuking Setanta Sports. Sky is bad enough but atleast you have a huge choice of channels when you subscribe to Sky, but IMO for what Setanta host it is a huge rip-off. What else are Setanta hosting? F.A Cup? Carling Cup? England games? Setanta Sports £ £ £

It's certainly not cheaper.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 I *was* watching Celtic vs St. Mirren....it's just gone kaput!!! (The ref has Specsavers sponsorship on his shirt!! )
lildave3 Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 I know, not happy at all. Especially the bit about England's away qualifiers.
Lovejoy Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 We won't be investing in Setanta til there's something worth watching on there aka Leicester City! SKY all the way .
Matt Posted 10 August 2008 Author Posted 10 August 2008 We won't be investing in Setanta til there's something worth watching on there aka Leicester City!SKY all the way . Exactly. Other than a Calzaghe fight which I watched in a bar I have never watched anything Setanta but I just have the thought that Setanta has an "ITV" feel of its coverage and we all know how painful it is to watch sport on the ITV, I certainly wouldn't pay for it. As I said in my first post you really don't get alot for your money on Setanta IMO, It does seem poor mans TV coverage...Which you have to be a rich man to order the channel
Samilktray Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 I get it free in my room. I honestly have never watched ti from what i can recall.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Get yourself Virgin Media. Good man. For those that don't have Sky (me (probably the only person in the country NOT to have it)), Setanta is a bit of a lifesaver. I can actually watch alot of LIVE football now.
act smiley Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 What's the problem? You don't get it free with Sky? Big deal. Its not the future, its 1993.
Floating Fox Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 What's the problem? You don't get it free with Sky? Big deal. Its not the future, its 1993. What he said. Obviously Its just another way to swindle you out of more money, but you can't take sides between sky & setanta. Both as bad as each other. However, Setanta does show Bundesliga games. HAPPY TIME.
WetFlannel Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Aren't we the only country in the world who has additional charges to watch their national team play??? Could be wrong.
Lovejoy Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 If anyone's in doubt as to which is better there's one factor to decide it. Sky Sports News vs. Setanta Sports News ? Not even close to being a contest!
Jordan Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Want Sky and Setanta, but can't get 'em both? Here's how you can: 1) Move to the United States. 2) Get DirecTV and subscribe to one of their packages for $25-75/month (including ESPN and ESPN2). 3) Add the sports channels for $12/month (including Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports Espanol and GolTV) 4) Add Setanta Sports for $15/month. Problem solved. For example, on the Premiership opening weekend, if you have both of those channels, you can watch: Arsenal vs. West Brom (live) Everton vs. Blackburn (live) Sunderland vs. Liverpool (live) West Ham vs. Wigan (delayed 4.5 hours) Chelsea vs. Portsmouth (live) Manchester Utd. vs. Newcastle (live) Aston Villa vs. Manchester City (delayed 3 hours) Bolton vs. Stoke (shown on Monday morning) Hull vs. Fulham (shown on Monday afternoon) Middlesbrough vs. Tottenham (on Tuesday afternoon) for those of you keeping score at home, that's all 10 matches from opening weekend. You'll also get matches from the Championship, cups and all over the world throughout the season (plus SSN, Setants Sports News, rugby union and rugby league, cricket, Aussie rules, Gaelic football, hurling and all of the American sports you get on your other channels). One of my friends just did this and has extended an invitation for me to come over and watch games on his HD televisions. Don't mind if I do! I started by watching Man U-Pompey and Forest-Reading today. And if that seems like much too much, you'll have plenty of time if you move to New York where the bars and clubs are open until 4:00 a.m.
Matt Posted 19 August 2008 Author Posted 19 August 2008 So who's bothering to buy Sultana TV/go out to watch England tommorrow? TBH if it was on Sky/Terrestrial i'd no doubt watch it, but really I don't get excited or find England games that interesting - Especially friendlies, they bore me to tears, If it was a qualifier/competitive match i'd no doubt go out to watch it but i'll just ignore the fact England are playing tomorrow. This/These (As there are a few countries playing) friendly is one of the most pathetic matches ever anyway - 1 week into a new football season (Premiership season) and they have a friendly already. Don't get me wrong i'm a big fan (And jump on the bandwagon) of the Euro's/World Cup's e.t.c, but on a whole England bore me. As you can probably tell i'll a big Club over Country fan.
Ultra Posted 21 August 2008 Posted 21 August 2008 Setanta's coverage last night was so dire it even made ITV seem professional in comparison. Having Harry "uncle of the fat fraudster" Redknapp as a pundit was hardly an inspired move, especially with two Pompey players in the starting eleven.

You can pay an extra £10-15 a month for Setanta through your freeview box. To get Sky Sports you have to pay £34 a month. For that you get a similar amount of football coverage plus hundreds-of-channels-of-crap™. I have Virgin Media's XL package and watch about 10 of the hundreds-of-channels-of-crap™. Hopefully a bit of extra competition will stop Sky charging so much for sports.

Yes. That is EXACTLY what Harry Redknapp will be remembered for.
purpleronnie Posted 21 August 2008 Posted 21 August 2008 After the last couple of years why on earth would you want to watch England?
