Fez of Mahrez Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I'd imagine mine is over £600 so far including all the friendlies. Adult prices and no split for any petrol. I might do this when I've got some time to work out how much I've spent so far.

Daggers Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I've absolutely no desire to discover how much I waste on football.
Thracian Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Fascinating, and when you've all finished, the outlay will seem horrendous and no sane person outside the orbit of football would have any idea why you're prepared to spend it. Recent seasons have, I know, taxed even some of keenest fans, but somehow you have to live through the bad times and cope with the embarrassment of watching players who should never get chance to wear the shirt because it's part of being a fan and because it makes the better times such as we're embarking on now, all the sweeter. For me there are few things like a day out at the football. Being a fan has never ever lost it's compelling magic - though I've occasionally wished it would - and the people from FoxesTalk have only added to that enjoyment and the comeraderie that is so much a part of what makes football days special. And this season what a change it has been to be able to mostly praise people - the manager for simply bringing in some proper players and using them within a properly organised team; the individual squad members, both new and old who have, to a man shown they can at least play a bit whether they achieve all we'd hope for or not and the fans who at long last have something to cheer they can genuinely start to feel some pride in. I've no idea if we'll get promoted this season - yes I'd back them with a few quid but that means nothing - and while I'd love it to happen, to some extent it doesn't matter. I'm loving the football again and I really don't give a shit what it costs in the end because I couldn't put a monetary value on the combined folklore of a season. What can you buy for even £5,000 that's better than a season's football, lots of good company in pubs and grounds all over the country, and a stack of memories and tales to tell? For me the game's priceless. Always has been since I was a nipper. Indeed I give thanks that I met a girl who didn't mind getting married on a Wednesday so I didn't miss a game on the Saturday!

Guest Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Indeed I thank God I give thanks that I met a girl who didn't mind getting married on a Wednesday so I didn't miss a game on the Saturday! Or find a girl who will not only marry you in the close season, but during a year with no World Cup/Euro Championships.
Thracian Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Or find a girl who will not only marry you in the close season, but during a year with no World Cup/Euro Championships. If that's a plug for my vote as "Most Dedicated Fan" you usually get that anyway! :scarf:
Corky Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Fcuking hell....i think im gonna cry!!!! Get a grip Raj. We are in it together, we can't cope with you softies.
Corky Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 If that's a plug for my vote as "Most Dedicated Fan" you usually get that anyway! :scarf: What about you Thrac? You've been going down since about 1946. That's commitment
Raj Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 What about you Thrac? You've been going down since about 1946. That's commitment Waheeeyyyy...nudge nudge wink wink say no more...... I'll just fcuk off......
Thracian Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 What about you Thrac? You've been going down since about 1946. That's commitment If I'd been "going down" in any sense since 1946 it might have explained why my mum told me I was always smiling from the time I was born - in 1949! My earliest recollection of watching City was in 1957 when the legendary Arthur Rowley scored a goal with his "wrong" foot. I was eight and used to walk down from Livingstone Street with my late grandad.
Guest Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Gonna have to give this a whirl when I have time to do so. Gotta be a fair amount for me I reckon, travelling up from London for each home game ain't cheap, plus ST/Programmes/Food/Beer........ actually, it could end up being a scary amount
syston_fox Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I'm not even going to start counting. I'll give you a clue..... three comes after two!
demon_dog Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Must admit it's something I've never done, worked out the cost of following the city. I do recall though that about seven years ago, a married couple used to sit next to me in the kop at Filbert St. They had just decided that they were no longer going to attend away games. They had worked out that at that time they spent over £2000 between them following the City. (we were in the premiership then) Net result: they spent the money on holidays, going to the likes of Las Vegas, Goa, Maldives, etc. Can't say that I blame them, they had been true fans for many years.
Floating Fox Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Ched, Blantantly stole this idea from SUSD Had mine going from pre-season. Mine is over £150 already. Thats without a Season ticket
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 You sad accountant wanna be's! Clearly work must be very slack and boring at the moment. A couple of things you may want to consider though... Highlight the money that goes directly to the club as a seperate item? That way then when we sign a player you like you can work out what % of your money went towards it and claim you own that player by that much. Season ticket holders - keep a tab on normal ticket prices - that way you can check how much your Season Ticket actually saved you. Travel to and from in your own car - you may want to calculate the price per mile at 40p per mile (like my company used to reimburse me for.) to include things like tyre wear and general maintance of the car. See if there is any tax loop hole to allow you to claim any back on what you have paid!
smokey Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Where some fans think that their £30 sky subscriptions every month and a new shirt every season can make them really support a football team, I don't. I know ched was going to do something similar (and I hope I'm not stealing his idea!) but over the course of this season I will be keeping record of exactly how much I spend and see exactly how much at the end of the season and if other people do it compare them. Obviously it would work better comparing other clubs but different fans will spend money on their club in different ways, so we could compare members on here i.e. those who get programmes, get hammered pre match etc. I will update my spendings every few weeks and hope a few others would too just for interest and to see how much modern football really does cost the fan. Despite going to a few friendies, I'm only going to include League and Cup game, but I will include any expenditures that include LCFC or the way I support them. So far: Season Ticket- young adult, early renewal, L1 - £225 Close season (shirts, accessories etc MK Dons H Got a life with a mate, parked at the phoenix parking was £4, so £2 each Then put on £5 worth of bets at the concorse Ladbrokes. So total £7 Stockport A Ticket - Student £11 Travel - drove worked out that it was about £30 in fuel total, had 2 mates paying £10 making it £10 for me. Food & Drink - Burger at ground (crap) £3, Mcdonalds on way home £4.29. Lucuzade at fuel station £1.50 Other - N/A Totting that up it makes £260.79 so far. I'll probably do a next update after Cheltenham. What you Moaning about? I spent more than £7 on my first round at the Mk Dons game! You also get student ticket prices and what student dont drink? If a Lucazade and a Mcdonalds is your pre-match entertainment then most city fans will spend more money in the pub before every game than you will including tickets all season!!
Lichfieldfox. Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Last season I spent well over £1000 not including parking, betting food or drink. So far this season its been £10................hard times

cecchini Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Hmmmm, costs me about 500 quid PER GAME - Just to get to the match! not counting what the wife and kids eat/drink/generally waste on the 8 hour 600 mile (one way)drive from the smallest country in europe.... <_<
act smiley Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 That is uh, quite a lot. Makes my £45 to Stockport seem a little bit small change. Still skint from it though because my landlady still hasn't given me my money back.
