I know ched was going to do something similar (and I hope I'm not stealing his idea!) but over the course of this season I will be keeping record of exactly how much I spend and see exactly how much at the end of the season and if other people do it compare them. Obviously it would work better comparing other clubs but different fans will spend money on their club in different ways, so we could compare members on here i.e. those who get programmes, get hammered pre match etc. I will update my spendings every few weeks and hope a few others would too just for interest and to see how much modern football really does cost the fan. Despite going to a few friendies, I'm only going to include League and Cup game, but I will include any expenditures that include LCFC or the way I support them. So far: Season Ticket- young adult, early renewal, L1 - £225 Close season (shirts, accessories etc. - £0 MK Dons H Got a life with a mate, parked at the phoenix parking was £4, so £2 each Then put on £5 worth of bets at the concorse Ladbrokes. So total £7 Stockport A Ticket - Student £11 Travel - drove worked out that it was about £30 in fuel total, had 2 mates paying £10 making it £10 for me. Food & Drink - Burger at ground (crap) £3, Mcdonalds on way home £4.29. Lucuzade at fuel station £1.50 Other - N/A Totting that up it makes £260.79 so far. I'll probably do a next update after Cheltenham.

I've done pre-season, but apart from Palace it's worthless really so I'll leave that. I'm comparing mine with a United fan on Standupsitdown, who does all aways and most european games, so I think he'll just edge it. I'm not calculating home games on my spreadsheet, I just average that at the moment, it's about £8 a game. £2.50 travel, then a drink and a subway or something. So, thus far... Season ticket - £255 Replica kit etc - :laugh: I don't think so. MK Dons - £8 Stockport - £11 Ticket, £15.50 travel and £8 food. Current total - £297.50.

Benji Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Out of interest how will you do the betting money, like you put a fiver on mkdons, if you lose then fair enough you've lost money on the club but if you win will you take it off the total? aside from that maths cr@p, good idea I give a lot of people grief about stereotype L1 folk but when you stand back and see what some my age spend on the club, at a time they're doing GCSE's, A levels or working at 17 it's amazing they can afford it and the club are lucky to have them.
Asha Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Haha I've been doing this as well So far, Season ticket - £207 (Get taken to all home games etc so no extra cost for all home games - no programmes or bollocks) Stockport away Ticket - £11 Fox Travel - £14 Food/Drink - 2 Relentlesses (£1.29 each=£2.58), 2 fruit pastilles at services = £1, Balti Pie at HT = £2.50 = TOTAL = £6.08 Stockport cost = £31.08 Total Cost so far = 238.08

I'm told doing a betting spreadsheet is also a good idea by someone on Standupsitdown, but incorperating football bets on City into the same one would make for more interesting reading I guess!

Are there signs on the roads coming off Aylestone road saying football parking zone? I know theres one on Burmoor street near the ground. Appealed + got nice pictures of my car back

I reckon it could run in to the low thousands. Mind you, had I not gone to the games i'm sure there'd be some spending going out on the piss anyway, but i'll still be adding everything I spend on the day of the game that's involved with it. Season Ticket - £349 MK Dons (h) Food, Drink and other bumflufferies - £80 Stockport (h) Ticket - £10 F&D - £15 Stockport (a) Ticket - £16 Travel - £10 petrol F&D - £40 Total so far: £520

Oh and dont forget to include your flag contributions!

If you want to see how much you spend on football fine but I don't really see the connection/comparison with someone paying their sky subscription of even watching Sky down the pub. You can compare the basics like tickets and travel but I'm sure the armchair fan is just as capable/likely to spend excessive amounts on food and beer. Best of luck anyway, personally I'd sooner not know. PS you should try improving your diet options - 2 burgers urgh!!!

It would probably put me off in future if I knew how much I was spending a season. I get paid roughly £600 a season for basically watching all the home games, yeh I get a bit of stick and most supporters hate me but I can live with that. I'd rather that than paying for a season ticket.

I'm pretty much the biggest cheapskate there is. I can never afford a season ticket at the time of them coming out as it's always when i've just come back off holiday/going on one, which always hits me for about 6 months. I pay for every ticket on the door so that's £15 per game. Add on a few pints before+after the game, maybe some food and it's easily going up to about £30/£40 a game. Sometimes a few drinks after a game will turn into 'ah fook it, let's go out' which then obviously doubles the amount spent. I walk to the games too so that's probably where I save most of my money. Every now and then I manage to get to an away game, usually after christmas/birthday/a decent pay day. My favourite game's for being a cheap-o are the tuesday night games. Soar point is £1 a pint. Can't complain about that.
