Almunia-Future England keeper

Recommended Posts

He is able to play for England next year and is thinking about doing it cos he knows he will never get into the Spain team! He would be much better than any other keeper we have got and is worth a go. People are saying that he shouldn't play cos he isn't english but that doesn't matter to me any more cos he is quality and hardly makes errors.

your thoughts?

He has the right to play so if he's picked I won't mind.

A replacement for James? :dunno:

Almunia is no better than a number of English keepers, and he is hardly one for the future either. Why on earth Rob Green doesn't get a call is beyond me, probably the most consistent performer over the last season of any premier league keeper never mind just the English ones.

I'm not really for or against him playing for us. If he's the best available goalkeeper around at the time of a squad, then by all means call him up.

English Players play for England, not Spanish rejects who can't make it into their national team.

Exactly.

If he does play for England then we will be a laughing stock, a bigger laughing stock than we already are.

Not good enough for Spain but good enough for Englands that sound about right what a joke

Right now I couldn't give a toss about who plays for England. Having said this, doubtlessly I'll jump on the band wagon if we reach the world cup as per usual  .

Rather to throw in one of the english goalkeepers in deep end after James retire they would learn more faster and would be more benefitcal for long term than to put a band aids on our goalkeeper crisis via Aluminia

Young Folks by Bjorn, Bjorn and that other Bjorn or whatever they're called is played on a lot of adverts these days isn't it?

It's also often chosen on FIFA 08.

I've got a friend who likes exactly like Almunia. He's quite a good footballer, but rubbish in goal. Good lad. Never afraid to buy the first round. On that basis, yeah, let's pick Almunia but play him on the left wing.
