BlabyFox Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 I know a lot of people want us to progress through the cups and do well in all competitions. but i know a lot of people who are glad we are out of the cup (so we are fresher, injury-free and can focus on the league). So, lets have a vote
bigneville Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 I want Leicester to win every game they play in every competition. A good cup run is always good for morale.
syston_fox Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 I think that depends on who we would have got in the next round. If it's Liverpool or someone like that away then I'd be gutted we were out but I don't think I could take another mid-week trip to Southampton after last season.
Corky Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Still in it. A win away to a Premier League team would have been a fantastic result, and as a supporter I want to win every match, no matter what competition it is in. A good cup run can sometimes help the league form and lift a season, so I'm gutted to be out.
Huuuuume Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Bittersweet really. Noone is gonna be 100% happy with being knocked out! But I said it before the Tranmere game (sitting outside New Road Inn...or was it Donkey? ) anyway, I said, i'd rather we spank the League and give the Paint cup a good run. We can realistically win that and end of the day it's a trip to Wem-ber-lee, aint it?!?!

James. Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 The 5 people that are glad we're out, I'd be keen to know your reasons.
FilboFox Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Positives: We can now concentrate on the other cups and our league performance which has to take priority as we need to get back to the Championship. Negatives: We are out in a game we could (should?) have won and it is always nice to see us having a good cup run... would have been great for the moral as well... Ah well, we are out so there is no use moaning about it... lets just forget it and get the 3 points against Cheltenham on Saturday! UP THE FOXES!!!
dandannieldanok Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 I definitely rather be in it, especially if we were to draw premier league opposition again.
davieG Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 How can anyone be 'glad' we're out / we've lost a game Irrespective of whether you think it's a distraction or not the games are there to be won or lost the thought of being 'glad' we've lost is an anathema to me.
Corky Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 I think there are many more positives than negatives from last night. How can anyone be 'glad' we're out / we've lost a game Irrespective of whether you think it's a distraction or not the games are there to be won or lost the thought of being 'glad' we've lost is an anathema to me. I don't know either.

whitlock Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 I think maybe because it was a tight game and lost in the last minute im still gutted and would want to be in it still, but if we had gone and lost 4 nil then i cant say i would be too bothered.
davieG Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 I think there are many more positives than negatives from last night. The only negative is we lost. I don't understand and never have all this talk of concentrate on the league, a defeat like that could have just as much a negative impact on the well being of the team as the thought of bollocks we've got an extra game to play. Good management should be at work for both, successful teams aren't glad they've lost games and been despatched from competitions.

Similar to putting in the effort to post something which 95% of people here won't understand.
He's not bald Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 At the end of the day, if you have a good cup run you are winning games, which brings confidence to help the league form. It's a bummer to lose that's for sure but if I had the choice of win last night or on Saturday there'd be no contest, let's move on,get behind the lads and come away from Whaddon Road with 3 points (and as we'll be in the Carlsberg stand we are probably the best supporters in the world! )
Daggers Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Come on there's 8 of you now. One of you must have an opinion... I seriously thought I was in a minority of one on this. I'm not happy to see us lose but let's be honest about this for a second: did anyone seriously expect us to lift the League Cup? We were going to lose sooner or later and so an exit brimming with pride and without any injuries is the best we could hope for...and we got it. There's no loss of face from last night's result, there's little chance of a hangover to Cheltenham - probably the opposite as I think we are going to massacre them now, this Saturday. I don't buy into the benefits of cup runs this season, we have enough important games on our plate as it is. Glad? No, that's the wrong word but I firmly believe the less time we spend fighting cup ties the better chance we have of promotion. Losing to third and fourth Div teams on the other hand is something I can't equalise - as much as I don't want to be involved in the Pisspot Cup I'd absolutely hate to see our first team being beaten by a club with three sheds for a football ground. I'm in a quandary on that one.
maddog Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Bit of a obvious question for me. Of course id rather us still be in, as should every other fan We would still win league 1 even with a few extra cup matches. Also it's an opportunity to play one of the big clubs in the Prem, home or away.
Zingari Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 How can anyone be 'glad' we're out / we've lost a game Irrespective of whether you think it's a distraction or not the games are there to be won or lost the thought of being 'glad' we've lost is an anathema to me. stress brings on my anathema
Scow Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 I'd rather be in the cup. We know we're not going to win it, but, we all love a cup run, don't we? The excitement it generates, speculation on who we'll get next, games with no pressure against the so called 'bigger sides'. I understand that cup games can cause potential injuries/tiredness, though that's the nature of football - Pearson's attitude has been spot on about this by reinforcing the League as the priority, though cup games are good at maintaining a winning mentality and building confidence. Despite last night, I'm sure the players would have taken a lot from the game and given them confidence knowing they can compete at a higher level.
