Team For Cheltenham

I'd plump for:

Henderson

Gilbert Tunchev Hobbs Powell

Gradel Oakley King Dyer

Howard Dickov

Very easy for me to choose this team this week.

Yes, let's drop the striker who has scored 4 goals in our 3 league games so far.

I agree although I must admit the Howard Dickov partnership did look very good against Fulham. Dickov read Howard's flick ons well.

You're right though, for a striker who needs confidence to play well dropping him would probably be the worst thing for himself and the team. Can always bring Dickov on to have a run at those tired Cheltenham players later in the game.

I'm still not convinced by Fryatt, however many goals he's scored. Dickov showed the other night he's got what it takes to lead the line with Howard, and I was quite underwhelmed by Fryatt's performance on Tuesday. I don't know whether you went Ric but I'm sure you wouldn't have been impressed either.

I'm still not going to let Fryatt's goals this season cloud my judgement over him. Fair play to him so far, but I'd like to see Dickov start up front Saturday.

Fryatt hasn't had the best of times, and yet have scored 4 goals in 3 games. One have to wonder, how many he'll score when he start performing to the level that he can. And lets not forget, Fryatt knows this division as good as his missus' backside. He's been here, done it. And he'll do it again, score a lot of goals.

I've been his biggest critic over the years, and as Joe said in another thread he has a lot of shit to make up for. But I genuinely do believe he'll make up for it this season.

But that's exactly what you SHOULD be doing in my opinion.

The guy needs confidence. I'm not a Fryatt lover but it seems pretty basic to me that you keep a striker who's scored 2 goals in a game twice this season in the starting line up. I like Dickov with Howard but I see no reason why he can't be used for impact later in the game. Giving Fryatt the chance to maintain his impressive start while having the opportunity to let Dickov loose on a tired defence seems the ideal comprimise.

Fryatt's done nothing wrong, Dickov is still not fully match fit and so it's a no-brainer in my book: Start with the lad who is scoring goals and bring on the old lag if needs be/if the goal margin permits.

To consider dropping Fryatt (a player who never does well once out of the team) even though his form is excellent beggars belief.

Howard

Fryatt

Fryatt has been scoring in the league, so one bad game shouldn't mean he losses his place, that will really knock his confidence.

Also Dickov looked so tired at the end of Wednesday night, at his age, he will not need another 90 minutes this Saturday, lets keep him fresh and use him when needed. Fryatt and Howard have looked good, no point throwing a non-match fit and tired Dickov just yet. His time will come.

Midfield picks itself at the minute. Wesolowski made a stake for a place, but not strong enough to dislodge the current two who are linking well together. Gradel and Dyer are automatic choices at the moment.

Defence is a tough call at centre back, after Wednesday's mistakes, i'd like to see the pressure taken off Morrison for a game. So giving in my opinion our best two centre backs a game together on Saturday, Tunchev + Hobbs. Gilbert's earnt the right back shirt and Powell looks assured on Wednesday.

Keeper was a tough call, Martin did well at times on Wednesday, but Henderson has been playing well in the league, so should be given the oppurtinity to carry that on. Looks like an interesting position for keeper this season.

I did go and I was very impressed with Dickov, he has always impressed me when he plays alongside a target man. But you don't drop a player who has scored 4 goals in 3 league games. When Dickov does play for us, it has got to be through the middle, Wednesday showed that. But i'd rather he come on for the last 20/30 mins at the minute. If Fryatt stops scoring then is the time for a change.

From reading reports from the people on here whose opinions I value I would guess that that is probably our best team at the mo. Shame there's no room for Morrison though, he impressed me so much against Franchise FC, I still think he's our future captain.

fryatt for me is undroppable at the moment, you just can't drop a scoring stsriker.

Where you lead, I follow.

Except to London.

I don't like London - everyone has a knife.

And bad diction.

Everyone.

That's your justification to drop him? On one game? You're letting last season's Fryatt, cloud you're judgement.

So he wasn't great at Fulham, but you can't drop him after scoring 4 goals in 3 league games.

Anyway, my team would be the same as yours, except Fryatt for Dickov.

Nah, it's not one game. It's just Matty Fryatt in general. I don't even think he's played that well this season, even though he has scored goals. Fryatt does deserve praise for what he's done so far this season, but I'm not sure he can keep it up. From what I saw of Dickov on Tuesday night I'd just like to see him up front.

Either way, I think Pearson will stick with a similar team to the ones he's been picking so far in the league, with Henderson returning being the only change. I can't see him dropping Fryatt anyway.

People who are suggesting to drop Fatty Fry up are mental lol

God forbid you get anywhere near managing a decent standard with a view to drop your top striker in form and replace him with an unfit player who is ageing! It's a no-brainer and I would be very surprised to see Fryatt start on the bench come saturday.

Indeed.

What do some people expect from a striker.

He's here to score goals and has 4 league goals in 3 games.

If he carrys on at that rate, he will score over 50 a season, that not good enough for some people scoring at that rate?

P.s I'm not suggesting he will score 50 goals, just showing what scoring rate he is currently on.
