LeeCovFox Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 All joking aside, it does sound as though the lad has something troubling on his mind. Just disappearing is a classic sign of depression getting too much for somebody. I know, I've done it. Sometimes it can be therapeutic. But it is cause for concern. I hope it's not too serious, whatever it may be. He isn't just a footballer, he is also a human being, with feelings like the rest of us. If/when he does return to the club, and if something is having an emotional effect on him, it is our job as fans to support the guy when he is back. I'm not suggesting that people won't do so, just highlighting the importance in support from others when one experiences the kind of difficulties which Levi may be right now.
Babylon Posted 3 September 2008 Author Posted 3 September 2008 Who's suggesting Dyer should be dropped? But Porter could easily have played on the right instead of Dickov who has done very little to justify his place so far except against Fulham (reportedly). Besides it is not so much a case of dropping people, simply of involving them. He could have gone central midfield for the tiring Oakley at Stockport for instance or on the right side instead of Dickov. Mostly though, I simply hope he's okay. Surely the club would let him go if he's unhappy. Especially the value they seem to place on him. Maybe it's known he had problems of some kind and that's why he hasn't been selected. Nobody knows the truth so there is no point in going on about it and suggesting it's the managers fault for not making him feel "included".
Thracian Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 Thrac no-one mentioned him being missing from last nights squad because until now no-one would of thought it any more then he simply not being selected, stop trying to make out there is a vendetta against him amongst the fans because there isn't, we just don't think the sun shines out of his arse like you do...anyway hope this turns out to be nothing and the lad is fine There are plenty dislike the guy and it's been apparent on here on various occasions over quite a long period and for no justified reason that I'm aware of. Some of the comments have been quite nasty. I've not suggested that amounts to a vendetta, there are plenty who rate the guy and encoiurage him, but the undercurrent has been there whether you want to deny it or not. If I could be bothered I'd trawl back and regurgitate some of the posts but it's not my scene.
filbertway Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 Someone should check Thracians dungeon. Unbeleiveable!!! How did it take 11 replies for this to crop up, I'm disapointed in you foxestalk.
Cat Burger Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 Hope he's ok and that this isn't another Mark Speight storyline.

Thracian Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 Someone should check Thracians dungeon. You know I'd normally laugh at that in the spirit it was intended but if Levi really is missing then I'd imagine it's a matter of serious concern.

Gradel was never one of his chosen ones in the first place, he only latched onto him when he was at Bournmouth. Dodds, Sheehan, Porter, King and Beswick are the Thracian dream team. Maybe Levi is upset at not going to Villa... http://www.villatalk.com/index.php?name=PN...ght=levi+porter
Babylon Posted 3 September 2008 Author Posted 3 September 2008 it's a matter of serious concern. And I'm sure we all are if it's true.
Jimmy Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 You know I'd normally laugh at that in the spirit it was intended but if Levi really is missing then I'd imagine it's a matter of serious concern. actually its not unless knowitall confirms the club have had no contact with him, otherwise it is probably just another in a long line of wild internet rumours
James. Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 Bit strange if it's true. I would imagine there's a perfectly innocent and happy ending though. Would it be a silly idea if we e mailed the club? Good old PJ might be able to ask around and ease our concerns. Then again if something is wrong they wouldn't tell us. Guess we'll probably just have to wait and see.

Some of the comments made about Porter had nothing at all to do with football. I give my opinion on what I see and, in Porter's case that's been a lot of good football. I've never claimed that any of the players I've mentioned are superstars but most of them, Porter, Gradel, King, Sheehan, Mattock. all made satisfactory starts to the senior careers and even Dodds seems to have done okay at Lincoln and Port Vale so far. If people want to pretend I say more than I do then it's hardly my fault.
whitlock Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 Everyone better check the bottom of there shoes
Jimmy Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 Thrac you have gone on record as saying that our Youth team would practically got promotion to the prem in the past, you pick a player and make them out to be the second coming, then call US blind when they don't get anywhere near that standard, because they simply are not good enough, your constant unjustified praise (based generally on nothing more then youth team football) for players pisses people off and they start abusing the wrong people, the players
Thracian Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 I've said it myself before but he won't believe you. Maybe Levi is upset at not going to Villa... http://www.villatalk.com/index.php?name=PN...ght=levi+porter I've rated Gradel since I first saw him years ago. It's only since he's grown stronger that I've thought he would survive the rigours of first team football and I campaigned strongly for his inclusion in the City side last close season, weeks before he ever went to Bournemouth. I saw no reason why we'd ever prefer Sean Newton and said so countless times.
LeeCovFox Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 It's a little rich to blame Thracian for the fact that some people may dislike Levi Porter. If people are going to base their expectations purely on Thrac's opinions of a player, then that is suggestive either of laziness, or a lack of resourcefulness. People should use their own brains, and make their own minds up on players. It really isn't Thracian's fault if they don't live up to people's own expectations, however they may have been built up.
Thracian Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 actually its not unless knowitall confirms the club have had no contact with him, otherwise it is probably just another in a long line of wild internet rumours Did anyone see him at Hartlepool? Did they see him at Cheltenham? If he remains an active member of the first team squad you might think he'd have been seen at one of those games if only sitting in the stand with some teammates.

Most everything I've said about all the youth players' football ability has been reasoned, accurate and based on performances. The greatest praise for Porter came, not from me, but from fans who witnessed his performance at Chelsea. I said King was actually quite an attacking midfielder who was being used far too defensively when playing his earlier games for the first team and most can now see the much wider contribution he's making under Pearson. I said Gradel would always attack people and make things happen and that's been the case. I said Porter would score and make goals and that's there to see in his statistics. Sheehan I thought to be a more attacking left-back than Mattock and valuable for his set-pieces which would be greatly missed when he left. That's how it panned out. But, for all the above, I've never said the youth team would get promotion to the Premiership and doubt that I'd have used more than four Academy/ex-Academy players at any one time last season. But with those four we would never have been relegated. Not even under Holloway.
Flynny Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 I'm fairly sure Thracian wanted Gradel used after christmas during Kelly's last season, if not before?
Lcfcman Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 Rumour has it Levi has gone missing... From TB. I actually saw someone hinting at this on Bentleys too."After speaking to one of our reps whose grandson works at the club, it seems as though Levi hasn't been training with the squad since sometime last week, as one of Levi's friends has been ringing the club asking if he had been in contact with them. Someone I work with knows him(same local blah blah blah) and said on Friday night Levi's girlfriend came in the pub in a state cos she couldn't find him, his phone was switched off and no one had seen him for two days. Tis very strange." Didnt Sol Campbell do this few seasons ago?
Jonbluefox9 Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 Hope he returns safe and well if this is true! He's a decent player to have in the squad even if he doesn't start regularly throughout the season.
FleckneyFox Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 Someone should e-mail Peter Jones? Hope Levi is safe and well though.
