mikey54 Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 From being a villain for the past couple of seasons Matty Fryatt has quite rightly become a bit of a hero for his goals (so far). Got me thinking about other 'villains to heroes' and 'heroes to villains' in the past. Prime example being David Speedie - I can remember the fury it created when we signed him (after the famous dive for Blackburn in the play-offs) Also remember Brian Little - turned the club around 'post Pleat' - but when he p***ed off to Villa became the (first of many) managerial villains. Any more?

Any more? Ian Oldmandroyd Phil Gee Walshy was seen as a bit of a loose cannon before Little came! Megson? Martin O'Neill, yes you remember!

Any more? I wouldn't go as far as hero for Fryatt just yet. Long way to go. Gerry Taggart certainly started off as a villain in my eyes, no-one rated him at all, whenever his name was read out, people were saying, "Oh no, not him" then after scoring the winning goal against Tottenham, he started to perform very well, week in, week out and became one of the best defenders the club has had. Mark McGhee. Tuwaat.
Kilworthfox Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 Pisspot started off ok + then ....... Kitson Steve Corica
Ric Flair Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 Savage went from villian to hero to villian again when he left. Savage was piss poor to start off with for us.
izzetafox? Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 Paul Dickov Hero-villian...........hero again??? jury is out but i hope so!
Corky Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 Trevor Benjamin. Loathed when he joined us but did well in 2002/2003. Not really "villian to hero" but nevertheless Robbie Savage.
mikey54 Posted 9 September 2008 Author Posted 9 September 2008 Remember Mark Bright - bought as a replacement for Gary Lineker who went to Everton. First game of the season, we played Everton and Bright scored 2 - that was about it from him
Fox You Forest Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 Frank Sinclair changed between the two on a weekly basis.
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 David Speedy Although I personally will never forgive the diving twat.
diggler Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 David SpeedyAlthough I personally will never forgive the diving twat. Can anyone remember his first goal vs. Peterborough at Filbo? They were building the new main stand at the time, so there were no away tickets available. Speedy scored, only to be greeted by deadly silence.... Will the same happen when Dickov scores on Saturday?

He's not bald Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 Don't forget Wisey,he went from Villian to c***t! MON is probabably the all time best example,he was not at all a popular choice and now he's a legend!
The Blur Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 Fryatt was a hero when he first came His goals saved us from going down I think so he doesn't exactly started off as a villian?
