Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night

I have my hands on a very good copy (Illegal so what, I will be buying the real album for sure to go with there others)

I have to say It still is not up to the standards of Youth And Young Manhood, but all first albums are hard to beat.

I think KOL have now done 4 great albums. They have been consistent at least.

I am looking forward to seeing them yet again in December.

I would give this a 8/10 so far even possibly a 9 after a few more listens.

I love the first track " Closer " really good song.

Sex On Fire is a great track and Manhattan is another that stands out.

The rest are very good too.

Overall, it's a good album, however I prefer their older stuff. This album seems to be a bit more toned down than previous work by Kings Of Leon, which is fine, but I prefer songs like King Of The Rodeo, Four Kicks, Red Morning Light etc better.

Yeah there southern roots really shone in the first album especially, I much prefer the songs you listed, but I think for them to release 4 decent albums is a testament to them, certainly beats a lot of the drivel out now.
