Father Ted Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Martin 5 - Worst goalie I have seen in a Leicester shirt since... Ermm... I dunno, no communication, poor kicking, no urgency, very dozey and unaware. Powell 6.5 - Solid enough but backs off. Strong though and a decent long throw. Hobbs 6 - Won every header and solid enough. Still, can't do much with the ball at his feet though. Morrison 6.5 - Good in the tackle, great on the floor but should have got back up at the end and decked their dirty moron Gilbert 6 - Didn't really get into the game, subbed early. Tunchev 6 - Good in the air but looked a bit dodgy at right back, bit better at Centre-Back Gradel 5 - A bad off-day for him. Oakley 7 - A good match for him, got stuck in more than any other player. King 5 - Like Gradel, had an off-day, pulled out of too many tackles, struggled with the physicality of Millwall. Dyer 6 - Never really got into the game Fryatt 5.5 - Marked out of the game very much and struggled. Howard 6 - Won a few headers but that was about it. Dickov 6 - Tried but why on the wing again!?!?!? He's a striker, he scores goals for crying out loud! Campbell - Not enough time but missed a great chance... Ref - Can you even call him a Ref...? What a load of rubbish, even worse than some of last year's game. No fighting spirit, we were pulling out of tackles and we struggled. At the end when Morrison got decked, why did no-one fight back?!?!, If I was on the pitch I would have helped my teammate, got stuck in but nobody did, I'm sure many people would stand up for their teammate! King pulled out of too many tackles and the full backs kept backing off. Their goal was a real good goal/fluke, but we deserves to lose today. As for Martin, just like Clemence - living in his dad's fame. We looked slow, lethargic, we didn't close down the ball quick enough and we had no buzz or energy, could have been because of the two week break but it better not stay like that!
DB11 Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 We were shit. First time I've seen Gradel and I hope it was just an off day and that he isn't always that crap or been over rated
Tilley Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Oakley 7 - A good match for him, got stuck in more than any other player. Erm, were you watching a different game? He got stuck in a few times, but he was AWFUL. Martin - 5. Morrison - 4 Hobbs - 5 Powell - 5 Tunchev - 6 Gradel - 5 Oakley - 4 King - 5 Dyer - 6 Howard - 5 Fryatt - 5 Dickov - 6 Gilbert - N/A DJ - N/A
DB11 Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Martin - 4 Morrison - 5 Hobbs - 5 Powell - 6 Tunchev - 6 Gradel - 4 Oakley - 5 King - 6 Dyer - 6 Howard - 6.5 Fryatt - 5 Dickov - 6 Gilbert - 7 DJ - 2 Ref - 6 Pearson - 6
Tilley Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 DJ - 2 8 Minutes? How can you give a rating after under ten minutes of football.
Benji Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Martin 4 - Terrible I'm afraid, every corner they l;ooked like scoring and spilled a shot giving them an open goal which fortunately they missed Powell 6 - Did his job, good tackling but poor on the ball, takes too long to get rid of it Hobbs 5 - Not very good at all, seemed happier near the end when he was more of a left back than bang in the centre, as a centre pairing with Morrison they were as shaky as any defence we have ever had Morrison 5 - As above, plus why do we keep giving him the ball expecting him to create something for us? MIDFIELD!! Gilbert 4 - Glad he was subbed Tunchev 7 - Did very well, a lot less shaky than Gilbert and very good in the centre although they had fk all in attack Gradel 6 - I thought he did ok, hada couple of shots and made attempts to cross the ball, the ref did not help him at all he was crocked left right and centre which shook him up a bit. Don't moan about him shooting, no one else did! Oakley 6 or 7 not sure - Played a two man midfield, covering up King's shit and looked knackered by the end, find him a partner! King 1 - give someone else a chance, he only gets a 1 because he put some effort in on 75 minutes with a tackle! Dyer 6 - Did well, very lively and tried to run at the defence, as good as any other Fryatt 4 - terrible, takes too long on the ball Howard 6 - Very good in the air, but their blonde haired lad did well as the game went on Dickov 6 - I liked him today, so very direct - get the ball and shoot or pass to the wings, it helped Gradel out no end but pointless when put on the wing Campbell N/A - Banjo and barn door? Ref - Didn't stamp his authority on the game, should have shown a lot more bookings to millwall first half, it ended up 3-2 on yellow cards by HT yet it was about 15-5 on fouls! As bad as anything we saw last year, £50 for two tickets that was, screw you LCFC
Joe. Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 We were ****ing awful. Martin 5 Gilbert N/a Hobbs 5 Morrison 4 Powell 6 Gradel 5.5 Oakley 5 King 5.5 Dyer 6 Fryatt 5 Howard 5.5 Subs: Tunchev 6 Dickov 6 DJ 3
Bert Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Erm, were you watching a different game? He got stuck in a few times, but he is was AWFUL. Fixed. Martin 5 - Hendo please. Gilbert 5 - Was doing ok until he came off. Powell 5 - Clear the ball and stop faffing around with it. Morrsion 4 - Awful, absolute dogshite, his mistake (amongst many others today) lead to their goal. Skinned a few times too. Hobbs 6 - One of the few players to come out with any sort of credibility. Gradel 5 - Nothing came off for him today. Dyer 5 - Same as Max Oakley 5 - Got stuck in and won some tackles, but his general play wasn't up to scratch today. King 6 - strong in the air, made some important tackles, but also lost the ball a lot. Howard 5 - Back to last season's Stevie? Fryatt 4 - Pass? We had a number of possible openings that may well have been created if Fryatt had've passed. Tunch 6 - Fairly solid. It needs to be him and Hobbs next week. Dickov 5 - Poor. didn't offer anything more than Gradel DJ - NA.
DB11 Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 8 Minutes? How can you give a rating after under ten minutes of football. Because he had multiple opportunities in those 8 minutes. And he also managed to find himself offside again
Father Ted Posted 13 September 2008 Author Posted 13 September 2008 Because he had multiple opportunities in those 8 minutes. And he also managed to find himself offside again Bit OTT, but he did miss a great chance - that's 1 chance not multiple.
Tilley Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Because he had multiple opportunities in those 8 minutes. And he also managed to find himself offside again You must have been at a different match, He missed one good chance, not multiple.
Joe. Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 You must have been at a different match,He missed one good chance, not multiple. Well, two.
Bert Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 DJ looked very lively when he came on. He was offside once, it's always going to happen as a striker. He could've done a lot better with his attempt, but his movement and link up play with others was encouraging.
Mark Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Whats with the DJ hate? He did more than Dickov in 8 minutes and the chance wasn't exactly easy, the ball was bouncing up. Martin - 4 astrocious kicking. Gilbert - 5 Morrison - 3 nightmare, why not play Tunchev there? Hobbs - 5 Powell - 4 too old, offers nothing going forward, Berner or Mattock please. Gradel - 5 Oakley - 4 King - 4 Dyer - 6 Howard - 4 Fryatt - 4 Dickov - 4 absolute waste of time and money. Tunchev - 5 DJ - 5
DB11 Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 You must have been at a different match,He missed one good chance, not multiple. I didn't say he had multiple GOOD chances did I? No. I said opportunities and good strikers make opportunities into something better. He had chances to pass but he didn't he just kept the ball at his feet and got tackled.
Benji Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Whats with the DJ hate? He did more than Dickov in 8 minutes and the chance wasn't exactly easy, the ball was bouncing up. I'd be more inclined to compare him with Fryatt, I didn't see any reason in Fryatt being on the pitch and Dickov at least had an attacking mentality. He started very brightly but then Pearson decided to bring Gradel off and so at right wing he was as you say completely useless.
Narborough Bod Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Martin 5 - caught badly in no mans land for the goal but not too much else to do, didn't seem to show any urgency though. Gilbert 6 - could have done better for the goal, closing down earlier Powell 5 - Seemed casual too, always trying to usher balls out for corners / throw ins rather than clearing away. Morrison 6 - see Hobbs below, also nearly gave them another goal first half, but reacted to put it out for a corner Hobbs 6 - average, seemed casual, couple of dicey moments with Morrison / Martin Dyer 7 - slightly better corners than Gradel, but the last 2 during that spell in the first half were crap. maybe should have shot instead of passing at the end. Gradel 6 - 2 men marking him (again) so tough to run at the defence, some good corners but also some shite ones. Oakley 6 - average, not great, not crap King 5 - Has gone about his business quite well in the past, being underated and doing the basic stuff well, breaking down attacks etc. I saw none of this today, made one saving tackle at the end but was getting in a mess with Oakley and seemed to duck out of a few lively challenges Howard 6 - won flick ons in the first half and retained the ball but anonymous second half Fryatt 6 - ran the channels well but well marshalled by Whitbread (6) who I thought was MOTM Campbell 4 - has that shot come down yet? Dickov - 5 out of position and didn;t really seem to know where he was playing Tunchev - 6 actually thought he made the defence more solid but think he is a penalty waiting to happen Overall, we seemed to have a bit of a casual / arrogant air about us. The defence in particular. We weren't that bad in the first half but it was as if we expected something to happen without having to work for it. The defence have made 1 or 2 errors in the games I have seen so far (Home) but not been caught out, today they were and I am sure Pearson will work on it. I don't blame the strikers, because really, we lacked the final pass to give them something to latch onto / finish.
Mark Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 I'd be more inclined to compare him with Fryatt, I didn't see any reason in Fryatt being on the pitch and Dickov at least had an attacking mentality. He started very brightly but then Pearson decided to bring Gradel off and so at right wing he was as you say completely useless. Agreed, Fryatt nor Howard was working and extra strikers is just going to cause congestion up there, it doesn't work but we try the same tactic every time we go 0-1 down at home, and just look how many 0-1 defeats we've suffered over the last four seasons.
ousefox Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Martin - 2.5 What did Hendo do wrong!! Gilbert - 5 Morrison - 5 Hobbs - 5 Powell - 4 Gradel - 5 Oakley - 6 King - 4 Dyer - 4 Howard - 4 Fryatt - 4 Dickov - 5 don't play him on the right Tunchev - 5 DJ - 5

C-man Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Martin - 4 (Gives me no confidence whatsoever, I can only think that it's football politics that's keeping him in team) Gilbert - 5 (Didn't do a lot wrong before being replaced) Hobbs - 4.5 (Hobbs and Morrison obviously both believed the hype around them because they both tried to do too much at the back early on and because we didn't clear our lines, they scored) Morrison - 5 (See above) Powell - 5 (He did alright to be fair) Gradel - 4 (Had a shocker - gave the ball away far too much and couldn't beat his man at all. To be fair Millwall defended him and Dyer very well as a unit) King - 6 (Thought he was our top man today, clearly I was watching a different game to you all He won a lot of ball, was all over the park and most of his passes found blue shirts) Oakley - 3 (Terrible game) Dyer - 5 (Did well in patches but his set pieces are absolute garbage, summed up by the last kick of the game) Fryatt - 4 (Looked like the lost boy he was in the Championship) Howard - 5.5 (Thought he was one of our better players today without getting any sort of decent service) Tunchev - 6 Dickov - 5
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 I don't think anyone showered themselves in glory today judging by what I've read. But we all know that these player's can do better. Lines such as "worst keeper I've ever seen in a City shirt" after one poor performance from Martin, following several promosing ones, baffle me. I just really, really son't want last season's negativity back following ONE poor showing.
