Guest ttfn Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 I'm going to make it my mission, of course with your permission, to spend a match sitting next to you.He did absolutely sod all until 75 minutes, he made that strong challenge and it bolstered his confidence a little but up to then he was completely out of the game. Sometimes you give me the urge to get a copy of the match, disect it and jam a big fat hand on every mistake, but then I realise that I haven't got a week spare for a full 90 minutes. Agreed. King was absolute balls today.
Corky Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Agreed. King was absolute balls today. Yep. Oakley wasn't much better though.
dandannieldanok Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Pearson 7 Got to disagree with that one. His message obviously didn't get across at half-time because we started the 2nd half on the back foot and a continuation of the one-dimensional 'hit it to Howard' tactic. His substitutions were naive with Dickov still not playing in his only position and to throw on Campbell to make it 4 strikers left the team with absolutely no shape whatsoever. The players let him down with a shite performance but there was no plan B and his substitutions were hard to understand.
Ajax Treesdown Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 King 6.5 (MoM for us even at this poor level. He was the only player who kept trying to play the ball contstructively along the ground whatever the situation. Started well but self-doubt crept in when Gilbert missed his pass though he was in no way to blame. Indifferent early second half but took a more defensive role when we went three at the back and he immediately blossomed again making one vital clearance and doing much to clean up and set our attacks in motion. His only corner might easily have produced a goal and he sent a shot wide from one of our few clear-cut opportunities). Bolllocks!!!! What is it with you and the kids at Leicester?!?!?
Munzie Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 This is the type of game we are probably going to have to get used to in this league. Credit where credit is due, Millwall duly delivered on a performance today. I wouldn't call it good football (or on occassion football at all) but everywhere you looked there was at least one white shirt. It didn't matter if we were attacking of defending. They made good use of closing us down effeciently. I felt sorry for Steve Howard today as he has been trying lately. I lost count of the times he was pulled back before the referee finally found his whistle. The team performance was not good today and I put that down to the visiting side stopping us from playing. We were never going to walk this division but if we are going to lose, let's do it with some fighting spirit.

Yes i agree, i thought after half time we would come out and really go for it, but it never happened. Taking Powell off and Dickov on sort of made sense and it was a brave move as i thought we are gonna go for it, but DJ coming on upfront aswell, we did lose shape and it reminded me alittle of last season and desperation. I thought Weso should've come on for King, we needed energy in midfield as King and Oakley both looked tired towards the end. Today the defence seemed really shakey, and Oakley and King were playing quite defensive and Dyer was getting drawn into midfiled rather than staying wide. So we lost our normal shape and balance. Millwall seemed to have a game plan and it worked, i can't believe how poor we looked today compared to the Cheltenham performance, but to be fair to Millwall they didn't let us play or get momentum going.
RowlattsFox Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Martin -5 Gilbert -5 Morrison -4 Hobbs -5 Powell -5 Gradel -4 King -4 Oakley -4 Dyer -5 Howard -5 Fryatt -4 Tunchev -5 A collective off-day, the whole team was poor. Shaky at the back, shit in midfield and the strikers were poor whe they got the ball, which granted wasn't very often. I'm going to put it down to a bad day at the office and the curse of Manager of the Month and hope we get back on track next week.
Thracian Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 I'm going to make it my mission, of course with your permission, to spend a match sitting next to you.He did absolutely sod all until 75 minutes, he made that strong challenge and it bolstered his confidence a little but up to then he was completely out of the game. I'd happily stand Kings contribution up for analysis against others today. I'm far more concerned about the people who rate Gilbert among our best players at five or six when he played about a third of the game and effectively gave the only goal away.
reynard Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Martin 5 1 good save but his distribution is poor and he looks shaky on corners/crosses. No better than Henderson. Powell 3 Dire. partly at fault for the goal and he has no right foot. Consistently had to turn back to use is left. Morrison 3 Looked like a non league standard player today. Also partly at fault for their goal. Hobbs 4 Didn't dominate in the air which for a player of his height is poor. Like morrison awful distribution. Gilbert 4 Took a bad knock early on and not at the races. Dyer 4 Poor. Offered nothing except poorly taken corners. Oakley 3 A skipper he should take control of midfield. Showed exactly what he is a very average player. Always has been and always will be. King 5 Did better today but our central midfield as it stands is not good enough to get us out of this league. Gradel 4 Sorry but he is so overated. He can't cross, can't shoot and his discipline is questionable. Ok so he can run fast but that's about it. Looks like his mind is elsewhere. Howard 7 He did well today and at least looked like he was making the effort. Held the ball up well with some nice touches. Fryatt 4 Completely inneffective and his lack of pace showed. subs Dickov 4 Either he plays up front or not at all. A pale shadow of his former self. Tunchev 6 If he is fit he has to start but at centre back for he is no full back. He did ok considering the crap that was all around him. DJ Not on long enough to rate. Probably should have been given longer.
Tilley Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Why the fook did he bring Gradel off? Because he was shit.
Asha Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Why the fook did he bring Gradel off? Just wasn't effective today. Set pieces were piss poor.
Rocky Dennis Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Why the fook did he bring Gradel off? Because he was very poor today (and for what its worth, poor and over-rated generally IMO)
lcfc81 Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Martin 5Gilbert 5 Hobbs 6 Morrison 5 Powell 6 Gradel 5 King 6.5 Oakley 5 Dyer 6 Howard 6 Fryatt 6 Finally some sensible ratings!!!! Why is everyone on at the defence, its not like Millwall over ran it attack after attack, they had about 3 decent attacks and a few corners. From what I saw the defence were okay most of the game (although there was a 5 min period like every other game when people gave them 7 and 8s) The attack didn't have any ammo. (Because our wingers crossed the ball about twice all game). Millwall stuck 11 hard working men behind the ball all game and brutalised us with the consent of the ref. (We are in league 1 and need to get used to this) Our manager won manger of the month (and are therefore legally obliged to lose the next game). What I don't like about today is the over reaction of everyone. Suddenly we are the worst team ever and everyone gets a 2 or 3. Also why everyone thinks Hobbs is so great and Morrison rubbish is beyond me, they are quite similar if you ask me (and are both very young so I expect the odd mistake). I think we have a good player in Morrison, one to be developed for the future. The only player for me who doesn't deserve to be playing is Martin, but Hendo. is not much better. And I thought Howard did well today with the service he got.

Fox You Forest Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Fives for all except King and Tunchev who get a 6. What wank.
Anish Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Martin - 5 Gilbert - 5 Hobbs - 4 Morrison - 4 Powell - 6 Gradel - 5 Oakley - 5 King - 4 Dyer - 5 Fryatt - 5 Howard - 5 Subs: Dickov - 5 Tunchev - 6 Campbell - N/A
hebangsthedrums Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Martin - 5- Indecisive, also perhaps should have done better for goal? (at other end so couldn't see too well) Powell - 6 - Did ok, not as slow as I thought and played his way out of some tricky positions. Also lots of encouragement for Dyer. Mattock would be better for me but Powell as well as any others who've played there last couple of seasons Gilbert - 5.5 - Not as good as other performances Hobbs - 6 - Very good in the air, yes did hoof but we had no CM today Morrison - 5- Sloppy and a slip nearly made it 2-0. Gradel - 5 - Some good crosses but Howard doesnt have the pace to change his position that quickly so they went adrift, nothing much aside Dyer - 6 - Worked hard but didnt really get anywhere. Good coupld of bursts but resulted in nothing. King - 4- Anonymous except for giving the ball away and the odd square pass. Does get his head up so the signs are there but we really lacked a CM today. Oakley - 4- See above. Where were the bursts forward like last home game? Not a captains performance Fryatt - 5.5 - Too ponderous today and didnt really threaten Howard - 6.5 - Won most of his headers and brought other players into play. Tunchev - 6 - Did ok, especially after moving to CB where he was more comfortable.Unlucky for booking 0 looked like shoulder to shoulder to me. Dickov - 4.5 - Cocked up then pretended to be injured and did little of note. Almost seemed like he was playing behind front 2 for a spell - surely Fryatt would have been better there? DJ - 3 - Wank. How Milan parted with millions for a non league player I'll never know. Thanks Allen Never really got going and even last few minutes there was no push. A blip hopefully.

James_lcfc Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Never done a 'ratings' thingy, so gonna do it by Football Manager, where by a 6 is average. Martin- 6- Didn't inspire confidence today. Flapped at a few crosses and his kicking wasn't the best. He did hold onto a few tricky crosses into the box though and made good save in the first half. A lot of you have been calling for Henderson to replace him and I would be inclined to agree. Gilbert- 6- Have to say he did look slightly shaky during the minutes he played. Picked up an arm injury early on though so overly critical judging would be slightly harsh. Morrison- 4- A '4' is a really poor score but i felt it was justified today. He really was poor today as a lot of you have pointed out. To be honest, I've always been unsure of him, his touch isn't the best and he lacks composure but he more than made up for it with his commitment and simplicity. In my opinion he was 'found out' today. Hobbs- 4- Another player who in my opinion deserved such a poor score. I was his biggest fan before today and spent the whole journey to the Walkers 'bigging' him up to my mates. But he was poor today, didn't win any first balls, his passing was shocking and was just generally off his game today. Has to be a one off though surely.... Powell- 6- To be honest, Chris Powell didn't do much wrong today, he dealt with things when he had to and didn't make any mistakes. Having said that, he really didn't offer anything going forward and his distribution isn't what is used to be. Gradel- 6- Maxi is a bit of a golden child at Leicester at the moment, loved by everyone, including me. Today however he wasn't at his best. Gave the ball away too often and his set-piece delivery was poor. BUT, I think he was the only LCFC player who showed some enthusiasm, he was always demanding the ball and making himself available. He put a decent ball in aswell just before he was substituted. Therefore I marked him up for his refusal to give up the cause and not letting his head drop despite the dismal situation. Oakley- 5- Matty was poor today and offered very little. I remember him making a very good tackle in the first half which brought a chance but very little else. Shame really because he has impressed me so far. He needs to forget about the game as soon as possible. King- 5- Andy King was almost anonymous today. He played a few nice passes but i recall little else. Just about warrants a below average '5'. Dyer- 5- Was really looking forward to seeing Lloyd today (HOW good was he against Cheltenham!) but he was a massive disappointment. His off the ball runs were predictable, his touch left a lot to the imagination and he really looked like he didn't want to be out there today. You could just tell he wasn't in the mood today and dreaded the ball being played to him. Im sure (hope) its just a blip!. Howard- 6- Looked like he'd reverted back to his 'strictly no jumping' approach he adopted last season. Didn't win enough in the air. Having said that though, he gets an average score because he held the ball up quite well and lets be honest the service was abysmal in every sense of the word. Fryatt- 6- Fryatt wasn't brilliant today but its harsh judging a striker on a game like today's. But he still didn't look his usual self today, his movement wasn't the best and he didn't link up well with big Steve. I felt the Millwall centre backs dealt with our front two far too easily. Subs........... Tunchev- 7- Our best player today, clear for all to see. Came in at right back but looked far more comfortable at centre back. He was more calm, assured and confident than Hobbs&Morrison put together. Actually came forward and attacked the ball and swept up well. I'd expect nothing less from a 26 year old Bulgarian international though to be fair. Dickov- 5- I love Dickov, he's great at what he does but he is not a midfielder. At times today he was trying to pull the strings in the centre of the park...come on. If we're gonna use him, lets shove him upfront for the last 10 minutes, he's a fantastic goal poacher and that's exactly how Blackpool used him (to great effect). Campbell- 6- Not going to give him anything less that that because he wasn't on for long enough. But when he was on, he looked lively and like he actually wanted to be out there. Had a chance he perhaps should have done better with.
Lovejoy Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Martin 5 Gilbert 3 Morrison 3 Hobbs 6 Powell 5 Gradel 6 Oakley 4 King 5 Dyer 5 Fryatt 3 Howard 5.5 Tunchev 6.5 Dickov 2 Campbell 4

Now if we lose to the O's and Hartlepoodle then maybe cause for some concern but ffs, it's one game.
