Player ratings v Dirty Cockney's

I don't think anyone showered themselves in glory today judging by what I've read. But we all know that these player's can do better. Lines such as "worst keeper I've ever seen in a City shirt" after one poor performance from Martin, following several promosing ones, baffle me.

I just really, really son't want last season's negativity back following ONE poor showing.

You're right, he didn't have a chance with the goal apart from that he wasn't bad. Some of the critisism of him is way over the top.

Morrison - 1 One of the worst CB performances i've ever seen. Full credit to Kandol for twatting him at the end. :appl:

Shame it wasn't you he twatted

Gradel 6 - 2 men marking him (again) so tough to run at the defence, some good corners but also some shite ones.

We have to find a way to use this to our advantage.

I see where you are coming from but they are paid professionals who entertain us as part of their jobs. Having just spent £50 for two tickets you can see why people are so pissed off with such a terrible preformance. I'm glad my dentist doesn't have off days like they do, or I'd see him in court every 6 months.

Daft comment, over reaction and just makes you look a bit silly tbh - the frustration bit I can understand though after many a year...

I think some of you are being overly generous with your player ratings. But then you have to put it into the context of the game and the opposition. To suggest that Millwall play "football" is a disgrace to the great game itself. Today was a case of 1 shot, 1 goal and a flukey one at that, and 11 men behind the ball, commiting fouls every 2 minutes or so - some seen, some not so - delibrately too.

Anyway, onto the ratings...

Martin - 3 - Offered nothing in terms of distribution, but then he did save their only shot, apart from their goal itself.

Gilbert - 4 - Ineffective. But then he was half crocked by a challenge that was, of course, "unseen."

Morrison - 4 - Lost count of how many headers he missed.

Hobbs - 4 - Ditto.

Powell - 4 - Offered nothing other than blocks. No distribution.

Gradel - 4 - Unfortunately when you take on Millwall with head tennis, Gradel will come out 2nd every time.

Oakley - 5 - Glimpses of control - but muscled out for the most part.

King - 3 - Non-descript.

Dyer - 4 - Don't take freekicks. Ever. Again. Stick with corners.

Fryatt - 5 - Not a lot went right for him. But he looked up for it more than others.

Howard - 5 - Again, looked up for it. Was fouled countless times though which, of course, were "unseen". Holding onto the shirt in the penalty box is not illegal. Clearly.

Subs:

Tunchev - 4 - Looks out of place at LB and RB for me. Never had an outlet ball.

Dickov - 5 - He looked good through the middle, but then ended up on the right. So that was that.

DJ - 3 - Unfortunately, our late comeback resulted in DJ being involved with the final effort on goal on more than one occasion. Make the goal 20 yards wider and scrap the offside rule - he'll come good.

NP - 5 - Needs to find an answer to opposition who refuse to play football. And fast.

Ref - 2 - Go to specsavers. Numpty.

The number of teams that come to us this season without the intent to play football may well decide on whether we make it out of this league or not. It's something we've got to get through and find a way of playing against. Fast.

Today felt like last season all over again.

If teams come at us like MK Dons and Tranmere with the intent to play some football, we'll pick teams off. If however, they play 11 behind the ball, foul, waste time, refuse to play football and put themselves about with a weak referee, we'll continue to struggle.

NP has some thinking to do.

Martin 5 - Made me very nervous. Didn't have huge amounts to do though but still looked a bit iffy.

Gilbert 5 - Seems like he was ill or injured?

Powell 5 - Was exposed a few too many times.

Morrsion 4 - Hoof.

Hobbs 4 - Hoof.

Gradel 6 - Did attempt to attack. Please learn to take corners! Missed Gilbert's assistance.

Dyer 6 - Same as Max, needs a better Left back to keep up with him.

Oakley 5 - Hindered by Howard thinking he was a central midfielder. Couldn't take hold of midfield.

King 5 - Too deep for my liking, playing as a defensive midfielder when he should be the one doing Lampardesque runs into the box and walloping the ball into the top corner.

Howard 4 - Thinks he's a central midfielder, his feet hardly saw the ball because like a seal it spent most of the time bouncing off his head into the wrong direction. Helped the millwall defence greatly by either breaking up speedy counter attacks or playing inside the central midfield tripping over oakley's legs. Gave the team an excuse to play hoofball.

Fryatt 4 - Takes the wrong option. Completely ineffective - millwall done their homework but obviously fryatt hadn't.

Tunch 6 - Showed the defence how to pass on the ground.

Dickov 5 - Ran around slid on his arse, added some urgency.

DJ - 5 - missed a golden opportunity with a shot that had as much power as a watch battery. At least he had a shot, Howard take note.

Pearson 5 - 4 strikers?! Taking Howard or Fryatt off earlier may have helped. Oh well. Please practice corners and free kicks in training.

Millwall fans - like em or loathe em they outsang the rest of the fans

Millwall team & manager - outfoxed the foxes with a super defensive display. Did you see them celebrate at the end? This will be a massive boost to them and to others in the division.

Yeah fair enough I'm as dissapointed as anyone about today's result but I'm just trying to reinforce the point that it is only one game. I know you're sensible and won't get carried away but the "I want to twat Morrison" line that someone wrote is an example of the type of stuff I don't want to read, especially considering that some of these players have actually endeared themselves to the fans.

Honest and spot on for me, although I thought up until their goal millwall fans were non-existant, but I don't care about that as much as the cack 90 minutes.

Millwall fans were decent.

Some of them were so cockney it must of hurt. Seen Billy Bright's right hand man on the way down to the ground.

Whats with the DJ hate? He did more than Dickov in 8 minutes and the chance wasn't exactly easy, the ball was bouncing up.

Martin - 4 astrocious kicking.

Gilbert - 5

Morrison - 3 nightmare, why not play Tunchev there?

Hobbs - 5

Powell - 4 too old, offers nothing going forward, Berner or Mattock please.

Gradel - 5

Oakley - 4

King - 4

Dyer - 6

Howard - 4

Fryatt - 4

Dickov - 4 absolute waste of time and money.

Tunchev - 5

DJ - 5

I'd go with that except give Howard a 7 instead of a 4. I thought he did really well today. Held the ball up, battled hard and won the majority of headers! I even saw him tracking back today

Martin 4 - Bring back Hendo. DIRE distribution.

Gilbert 5 - Injury probably didn't help matters

Tunchev 6 - Looked ok but this guy is not an international centre back surely?!

Morrison 3 - I have no idea why he's in the team. He looks very inferior to Hobbs and Tunchev and looked out of his depth today.

Hobbs 5 - Good solid defending but HOOF!!

Powell 4.5 - Looked too old and too slow. That said, his experience did come in handy when getting out of a couple of tricky situations

Gradel 5 - The good, the bad and the downright shit today from Gradel. A couple of great crosses but some mesmerisingly crap incidents as well. Lucky not to get sent off in the first half for kicking out at their player

Oakley 4 - If there was a rating lower than 0 for his first half display I would have given it to him. Second half was much better until the last ten minutes when he was crap again.

King 3 - Not good enough. Gave the ball away all the time and just seems to get in the way. We've got to give someone else a chance in that position. Good tackle near the end though. :frusty:

Dyer 2 - Barely noticed he was playing apart from when he was taking shit corners

Fryatt 5 - Tried hard but zero end product today - too much dallying.

Howard 7 - Our best player. Some fantastic first touches and some good flick ons in the first half. Should have had a peno.

Dickov 6 - Buzzed around and made himself available - tried to change the game.

Campbell 4 - Wasn't going to rate him until I remembered how comically far offside he was when we went forward near the end and Dyer played it to him.

Ref 3 - Had a good first half but in the second let Millwall continue to kick us up in the air. A firmer referee was needed and he was shocking in the second period to be honest. Also missed an absolute stonewall penalty for us at the start of the second half

Well, those ratings are very generous...

It's silly going to extremes. I very rarely give 9s or 5s.
