Changed the game? We were 3-1 up against a tiring team ranked 131st in the world. Barring a collapse of Titanic proportions it was over.

Figo is a world-class player, Beckham isn't. Beckham plays for an awful team in the MLS.

well at least becks is a great professional ..be it a very good or world class player .....and wants to play for england unlike his 'replacement bentley' ...who cudnt be arsed to represent his country

beckham still wants to play for his country no matter what ...and to me that is a great attitude ...and perhaps that is the factor we're missin in the current team ...bring back captain becks !!! ferdinand ...captain yh rite ...anyone that does a programme called world cup wind up's needs to be shot ....lol nxt i'll be sayin bring back blair !!

and becks is blates too good for galaxy ....one man cant run a team !!

Gerrard and Lampard will come good. First time they have played well together and we have scored 5 goals in 45 mins. Under Capello.

Barry plays 45 minutes and we score 0 goals.

they didn't play well together at all!! they completely destroy each other. there's no balance, no one know's who's doing what. we won 5-1 despite them not because of them. not once in 40 odd appearences have they looked decent together. and against better opposition we'll be screwed.

Sorry mate, I think he's been a very good servant to England and Man Utd, given his all, and shown some real quality in his career, but to me world-class players are Figo, Zidane, Henry, Ronaldinho, and Beckham, in my opinion, isn't as good as those players.

Barry is such a good player and he will sit there and play a 5 yard pass to either a centre back or a centre midfielder. He is such a brilliant player.

Rather than playing the best players, surely its better to play the best team, the team with the right balance. Gerrard and Lampard both quality players they might be, but the two of them in the middle doesnt work, the balance isnt right, as neither have the discipline to sit. If you check the stats, you will see the win percentage is far greater with Gerrard and a holding midfielder in the middle, rather than with Lampard. Sorry to quote you, but that is "fact". Thats why Fabio is paid £6m a year, to make tough decisions.

correct me if i'm wrong but didn't Lampard and Barry ease England through a 4-1 away win in Croatia?

It was clearly a one off England performance, it's not like they're ever going to form a world beating partnership in the centre. Up to that game Lampard was getting slated for his England performances but as per usual the English have suddenly decided he's brilliant after one good performance.

Gerrard and Barry in the centre for me.
