AjcW Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 Im sure im not the only one whos thought that the manager whos top of league one is bound to be of interest to championship teams looking for a manager... Hopefully if any approach is made milan handles it alot better than he did last time and any approach is simply laughed off. Mind you pearson seems alot more loyal than u know who haha.
Corky Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 Charlton will go for either Boothroyd or Holloway I think.
Pegosteve Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 If NP reads some of the rubbish on here about his perfomance then he may well go if offered the position. But lets hope he doesn't get linked with the job.
Brainy Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 Curbishley John Ward Iain Dowie (for Watford anyway)
Daggers Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 CurbishleyJohn Ward Iain Dowie (for Watford anyway) Keegan Peter Monkeyheeed O'Leary ...and so the usual names begin to trot out.
JakeShingler Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 I think he will stay with us no reason not to.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 I think he will stay with us no reason not to. More money? Longer Contract? Higher Standard? Chairman's not as mad as a hatter? (unless Elton's still in control at Watford?) Watford - Elton agree's to play tiny dancer on request for you? Better set-up? Better players?
DB11 Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 I wouldn't be bothered if he went... surely anyone could be top of League 1 with the players we have here. He has shown when it comes to things like formation, tactics, substitutions etc. that they have not paid off for him.
Matt Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 I wouldn't be bothered if he went... surely anyone could be top of League 1 with the players we have here.He has shown when it comes to things like formation, tactics, substitutions etc. that they have not paid off for him. It's comment and people like you why he might be tempted away. Same as Fryatt - If I was in his position or to some extent NP's position i'd be thinking i'm not getting the credit I deserve not only that i'm getting slagged of for doing a good job i'd seriously contemplating a move.
Thracian Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 If NP reads some of the rubbish on here about his perfomance then he may well go if offered the position. But lets hope he doesn't get linked with the job. Pearson gets stacks of praise and credit. In fact I was wondering last night how many marks he'd have accumulated under the plus/minus system I adopted for Rob Kelly and Martin Allen. Twenty three games, four defeats, plenty of goals, reasonable defence, top of the League, I reckon he'd be would be closing in on +100. But he gets criticism the same as he'd get anywhere. Sometimes he confounds it and sometimes he has to think again. Football supporting is an emotional business. The roller coaster ride for your feelings is a big part of the draw. People live the game and want to win as badly as the manager and the players. Would he rather manage where hardly anyone gives a shit? Criticism wouldn't disappear and it wouldn't disappear in the Championship either. Pearson gets well paid here and he's well thought of by everyone as far as I'm aware. But City fans have had a torrid time these last years. Not just in terms of their results but the way they've played their football. Last season's tragic comedy was beyond any defence. And whenever there's the slightest hint of repeating that sort of shit it bothers me and it bothers some other people too. And it should bother the boss. He forks out big money for our players and can reasonably expcect some sort of performance, not just in terms of the result but in terms of the way we play. It is bloody lovely to see City at the top of the table but anyone thinking we've seen the best this team can offer is kidding themselves. There's a damn sight more to come from them and some of us won't hesitate to keep encouraging that improvement. Yes, we'll be a while yet before we're back setting the standards I'd like to see and was brought up on. But I've every hope that Pearson will be making the journey with us all the way towards that end.
Tilley Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 Pearson won't go Watford or Charlton, or anywhere else for that matter. I'm sure after the way Southampton treated him, he is very grateful for the opportunity Mandy gave him. & as I said in the Scunny post match thread, Nige loves his songs, it brings out a smile
GloverFox Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 ... But I've every hope that Pearson will be making the journey with us all the way towards that end. ... Hear, Hear ... it would do both the Club and NP a great service to finish this season on Top with promotion; great for us to hop back first time of asking back to the Championship and great for his CV. I'm all for Nigel staying the 'journey' (very business click-word that Thrac); in fact I'm all for the bloke and his team leading us out into the Championship next season (confidence is a gift!) ... and us getting behind 'em and 'really' supporting 'em!

I don't think Fryatt is doing too good either tbf. It'll take a lot for him to wipe away last season.
Rich Fox Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 We are bigger than bloody charlton and watford put together, 8th biggest city in the country massive fan base, proud history come on have a word with yourselves we will be back!

Scow Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 More money?Longer Contract? Higher Standard? Chairman's not as mad as a hatter? (unless Elton's still in control at Watford?) Watford - Elton agree's to play tiny dancer on request for you? Better set-up? Better players? I'm not sure if you're being entirely serious with that post, but I don't think it's as simple as that. More money? Maybe, who knows, though Watford are in their last year of parachute payments (I think?). They look more likely to get relegated than promoted at this point, so they're seemingly a club on the slide both on and off the pitch. Longer contract? Wouldn't be much longer than the one he's on here. Higher standard? Well, yeah, can't dispute that, but we're heading in different directions at present. To gratify your Elton John obsession, he no longer fulfils that capacity at the club. Better set-up? Debatable. Better players? Possibly, though they have lost some key players like Shittu, Bouazza, Mahon and King. The point is that just because the likes of Watford and Charlton in a higher league, it doesn't mean they're in a better situation. After going through one relegation battle, I'm not sure Peason fancies another one by taking over a team on the slide midway through a season.
JakeShingler Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 More money? Hes allready loaded Longer Contract? We can give him that. Higher Standard?Next season Chairman's not as mad as a hatter? (unless Elton's still in control at Watford?) Watford - Elton agree's to play tiny dancer on request for you? Better set-up?No Way! Better players? No way!

It was mainly tounge in cheek to the post above it - HOWEVER, they are all considerations, and what you've posted above may not be seen the same way by the most important person of all - that being Nigel Pearson. (oh and Elton John - if he wants his man, he gets him with a bunch of flowers on top!)
Corky Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 I wouldn't be bothered if he went... surely anyone could be top of League 1 with the players we have here.He has shown when it comes to things like formation, tactics, substitutions etc. that they have not paid off for him. And he also shown what it's like to attack and win games- we are not top for nothing. Also, he put the squad together- another manager wouldn't have looked at the players he's brought in. And have we not learnt from last year about managerial changes?
NewquayFox Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 I think Pearson will stay, but we are going to lose Mattock to Everton in the January window, Fryatt may move on as his contract is about up and considering the amount of stick the so called City fans give him i dont think he will extend it, just hope that Dyer, Morrison, Tunchev and even King dont attract any offers. Lets just get out of this feckin division please, oh and great result yesterday by the way even if a Chelsea/Plymouth twat at Golf today said we are a Mickey Mouse team in a crap league.
Legend_in_blue Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 Why would Pearson go to some small, insignificant club in London? I cannot believe people think he would even be tempted by it. Charlton are nothing. They are a small club who have been playing far above their level and stature as a club for years and now they can wallow in their misery. Good luck to them. That small suburb of London can clear off as well.

Daggers Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 For God's sake - will people STOP going on about Pearson needing to be sacked. How many times does it have to be pointe... ...what? This isn't the weekly "People should stop trying to find people demanding Pearson's sacking" thread? Oh. I confuse easy. What shouldn't Pearson be doing this week?
Koke Posted 23 November 2008 Posted 23 November 2008 Wednesday will sack Laws soon and they'll certainly will be linked with Pearson. I think we can resist the Championship clubs to be honest. It's not Pearson will be approached by a Premiership club i.e. Gary Megson.
